Tsitsipas record vs Medvedev

Kind of surprised to see him lose yet again despite being in pretty good form of late.
And it's the third time he's lost to Medvedev?
What's up with him?
Medvedev is an awesome player. Both hit well against each other, but Tsitsi's weak first return makes Med's first serve look very good. Plus Med can totally lock horns in the grinding game. Wouldn't put a lot of stock in the other losses; today's match just set the bar and its a high one.:p

medvedev is not a bad player
He's not.
But his 3-0 record against Tsitsipas is pretty amazing. And all those matches were played this year.
Saw a few comments on Twitter about how Tsitsipas gets worked up playing against Daniil, due to whatever issues they have with each other since what happened in Miami, and that has a huge effect on his game.

Tsitsipas has played a lot of matches in the past couple weeks, and is coming towards the end of his first major year on tour. I’m not worried about this loss.

He should be beating Medvedev in the future though.

I just watched the highlights and it seems that Stefanos gets a bit worked up against Daniil though, so it's not just a case of the better player on the day winning.
It's strange that they dislike each other so much, too, after what happened after that Miami match.

You're just saying this because he's attractive. I completely disagree. There will be more incidents in the future.
His looks have nothing to do with this. He did behave foolishly here and should have been more gracious at the end, but that doesn't mean he'll turn out to be a jerk.
All players have off days, doesn't mean that they're arrogant or have issues.

Med defends well and can keep the rallies long and neutral. He is patient enough to grind. He did the same to de minaur in Sydney. Very subtle grinding.

For those who don't know, it all started here:

Tsitsipas tried to start sh** with Medvedev, calling him "bullsh** Russian" but when Daniil called him on his bluff, he ran with his tail tucked between his legs.
Yes, it was Stephanos who started it but he is the one who has apparently blocked Daniil on social media and generally avoids him.
That's why I was wondering if there was more to it than the Miami incident.

Yep, love Tsitsi's game but this is all on him. Talk sh*t under your breath about someone, you may get called out. He should have apologized in the locker room and it would all be over.

That ballkid clip is bad too, if she had moved forward he may have hit her. Hopefully he matures.

Medvedev's playing great ball too, no reason to think he's an easy out.

He shut his fcku up, eh? This could be a legit rivalry if these two continue to improve as they have done this year. Very happy for both of them. Please no steps back in 2019.

I really like Tsitsipas and have followed him for the last two years, this clip really upsets me, hopping someone will clip him behind the ear and stop this rot before it goes any further.

Eh, it's not a great look, but I'm not very bothered by it.

Look at it this way. Tennis is an intense, individual sport with a LOT on the line (pride, money, fame, what have you). He was pulling the racquet, it was stuck, so he yanked it. Yes, it was rude. But so is cussing someone in the heat of the moment, even though normally one is mellow. Sure, it'd be great if everyone can control themselves and 'not' cuss, but it's not that easy when in the heat of the moment. That is what happened here with Tsitsipas. He seems articulate and nice off the courts (check his youtube channel, he even helps with disaster charity).

Yeah yeah, have watched all his YouTube videos, he always has heaps of respect in those regarding his thoughts on things and the way he portrays himself, needs to keep himself in check on court though, would be a shame to tarnish his image or worse, hurt a ball kid because of loosing his cool in the heat of the moment.

yea, but this isn't that bad, considering...

any champion has to have a certain 'edge' to them. Tpas is a natural empath, i don't want him to be like Dimitrov (who is one also) and tame his killer instinct too much either because of unfound guilt or being too much of a nice guy at all times.

i'm sure he felt bad after seeing the vid...

You're just saying this because he's attractive. I completely disagree. There will be more incidents in the future.
of course you, and your ilk, would be the ones to try and attack someone and label them a jerk in order to defend (secondarily) a known jerk and hothead in Medvedev!

You guys have not watched the match. The real jerk here was danil.....he was shouting and celebrating like a cheerleader all of the points he won on the last game and so he did when he won the first set. And that’s why the cold handshake. As for the ballgirl incident first cry me a river with your political correct comments and secondly it’s clearly that he is upset with himself.....it may looked like he could hit the ballgirl but it was due to his nerves and the frustration he got from the match. He is f 20 years old only give him a break.

If you have watched all the 3 matches of them on the first one Tsitsipas lost to a better danil....on the second one he was better but couldn’t handle the nerves he got from the first match...yesterday it was a different story danil was a world class pusher that was going for it was he was on the run on the corners and Tsitsipas was the one dictating most of the points and asking answers.....danils playstyle will not get him far away and to the next level.....it’s a matter of time before Tsitsipas will become stronger more focused and reduce his unforced errors and finally not only win him but destroy him.

Imagine the reaction if Sascha had behaved this way..

This is a bit of an overreaction. They don't get on and Tsit perhaps doesn't have the maturity to play his best against someone who he has bad blood with.

Plus Medvedev is like a lanky Gilles Simon, which is an awkward style to play against anyway.

Medvedev is 2.5 years older than Tsitsi so they're not exactly the same age, and the tennis in the match was very high quality, Medvedev could crush Fed tomorrow.
