Tsitsipas record vs Medvedev

S'in-net

Semi-Pro
Medvedev moves exceptionally well for 6'6", both laterally and up to the net for a dropshot

He wasn't even serving well in this match and was relying more on his grinding game
He's very good at working out what a player doesn't like, emotionally, and being solid behind their discomfort
At this moment Tsitsipas can't win backhand crosscourt to backhand rallies with Daniil, who because of strong return game will always get in rallies with Tsitsipas, dictated by crosscourt, hence the discomfort

When Medvedev was broken in 2nd set by Tsitsipas, serving 2 doubles, he gave nothing away emotionally, so has resolve

I think the situation is Tsitsipas is an empath whereas Medvedev is at the opposite end of the spectrum, and can catalyze negative energy in the empath. but ultimately that is the empaths weakness being explioted

Medvedev also dismantles De Minaur's game (In Winston Salem) by refusing him any pace, whilst being very solid facing De Minaur's frustration

I think Daniil is a modern day Nalbandian in some respects

He just doesn't apply the right tactic against Daniil. Simple at that. He has all the weapons to beat him but uses them not so wisely.

Medvedev is an awesome player. Both hit well against each other, but Tsitsi's weak first return makes Med's first serve look very good. Plus Med can totally lock horns in the grinding game. Wouldn't put a lot of stock in the other losses; today's match just set the bar and its a high one.:p

Will be interesting to see if Fed plays Med differently in the Basel SF than Tsit did.

Fed I think will use more slices against 6'6" Med, to make him get low. This seems to be Fed's strategy against the tall young guys, he slices and dropshots the hell out of Zverev...

Medvedev's attitude has improved since his implosions at Wimbledon last year and got defaulted for insinuating that a Black linesman was in racial nepotist cahoots with I think Donald Young or Tiafoe, I can't remember. He pulled a Hewitt from the US Open 2001, racial nepotism.

Medvedev has grown up a bit and Stefanos will too, with age comes experience and respect.

Trollvedev loves to beat the crowd favorite.:p

hmm, where did you get that from? ;)

"any champion has to have a certain 'edge' to them. Tpas is a natural empath, i don't want him to be like Dimitrov (who is one also) and tame his killer instinct too much either because of unfound guilt or being too much of a nice guy at all times."...

Yeah I really called that one. Looks like Medvedev was worn out from the long Tsitsi match.

Beat you to it. I got it from my own post from monday:-

Couldn't agree more...

The biggest weakness currently in Tsitsipas' game is poor body consciousness

I've been a fan of St.Ts since 2016 when he was playing futures finals against players like Maxime Janvier. I've followed his social media since then as well
Looking at his social media: He is a dreamer with empathic qualities, therefore he has a predisposition for developing body consciousness...

A woman I knew who was a 2nd Dan black belt has a very contained walk, like a panther. You could see the power there. Power that comes from being aware of self and the surroundings your in. None of that power was yang power. It was lithe and graceful.
Someone needs to get hold of St.Ts, move him on the path of self containment, where you expend the minimum amount of energy in your daily routine, which also reflects in your walk. Anytime you see a (particularly male) person walking down the street with their feet splayed out, they are expending too much energy, establishing too much yang energy in their field, which is also a reflection of their thinking processes

I reiterate: For an empath, I am suprised Tsitsipas hasn't as yet got more body consciousness, at this point in time

Simple: Medvedev has made it his life mission to never lose a match to Tsitsipas.

A rivalry between the 2 of them would be great because they clearly don't like each other. Shades of McEnroe-Connors.

From the long 3 setter?!?

How do you think he's going to go deep in a GS if gets tired after 3 tough sets?

It was his 17th match since USO. He won Japan as a qualifier. That's probably more matches than anybody since USO.

His first 2 Basel matches were straight-set wins.

Then a 3-setter derails his fitness?

He's 22 years old, surely he can handle 7 sets of tennis in a week?

Are you suggesting that 22-year-olds start taking time off like Fed and Nadal? :)

The Daniil Tsitsipas match finished at 12.30 am
He would have done well to get to bed earlier than 4 am, and on top of that the semi with Federer was sceduled for early afternoon
Plus he's played a lot recently, so he caught up with the lag and it showed
