Congrats to Gonzo, his FH and passing shots were amazing today. Was a great match although would have been nice if Tsonga could have pushed it to five.Sorry for Jo but Gonzo was a better player today.

Break Point Conversions

Tsonga: 1 of 14 = 7 %

Gonzo: 1 of 5 = 20 % (+ break for the match obviously)

oh Jo, why couldn't you take some more of those

Hope to see those guys play in MS as well soon. Awesome match best so far at the USO.:)

Gonzo was the better man today. Incredible ground game. What a bh. I'm hoping for a Delpo - Gonzo semi as well.:)

Ahh man!!!

Sad way for Tsonga to lose like that in the end making two DF in that last game. He should be a little disapointed with himself and hope to improve next time.

Great Great match this and I never wanted it to end. OMG that FH is a thing of beauty. One of the best shots in the game when its on. Amazing performance by Gonzo after the first set. Hope to see Gonzo make at least the semis. Vamos!!!!

Pleasently surprised by Navaratalova's commentary as well.

so two overrated players lost today, murray and tsonga!

tsonga has never done well on the us open hardcourts, no surprise

Wow, Nadal's chances of getting to the final have increased significantly after today. Tsonga and Murray can both beat him and are now out. If Cilic knocks out Del Potro, it looks like we will have the first US Open Federer vs Nadal final.

Gonzo deserved it, Tsonga let him play his game... Some dumb tactical choices by Tsonga out there on his return games.

the last game was a bit disappointing... but appart from that, it was a thrilling match ! :)
gonzalez was really strong... i'd like to see him in the final now.

Does anyone here know the best way to get US Open tickets?

Am going to be in New York, so really want to see the tennis if possible:)

I really enjoyed her commentary last night on the freebie stream that was from espn? tennistv?

anyway, tonight i had doug adler and virginia wade on the free uso stream, and they were pretty good. both agreed that, after a bad start, gonzalez played the mature game (which i guess means he's done it sooo many times that when push comes to shove, the instinct takes over? and the instinct is based on a lot of talent, which includes the mental game.

Foxsports streamthat I've left running, don't you try make me watch Jo throw away his serve and the match again you bastar...

====

I've just realised Gonzo is currently super clutch, in his last 3 matches he's now faced a combined 22 bp's and only been broken once.

WOW!!!

an obscure but impressive statistic, shadows! :D

Thank you LG, less obscure but no less impressive is that Gonzo was 100% on first serve points won in that last set

1/22 on BPs wow, kudos to Gonzo, the guy's a fighter.Verdasco was doing something similar in AO this year,he was saving tons of BPs aganst Murray,Tsonga and Nadal.

Gonzo is a stud. He's beaten 2 guys in a row who seemingly have more weapons than he does just by using his balls of steel.

er ... ummmmm ... dont you mean hand of stone?

his nick is stone hand, not steel b....

etc., it's what's between the ears, not what's between the legs

Tsonga's flashy style was blasted off the court by Gonzo's forehand. Oh well Tsonga. You can always practice your little post game ritual in the locker room.

This was one of the top matches this year enjoyment wise for me. I really loved seeing Gonzo breaking Tsonga down, it was beautiful. I can't stop thinking about how pumped I got watching the end of the third set.

ESPN, by way of TSN, only televised the first set and a half, set point in the third set tiebreak, and matchpoint! Whoever does the programming is not a tennis fan. This was another great match I didn't get to see because of money or misplaced patriotism or something.
