Yes, Fognini played well. The guy reminds me of French players from the 80s like Leconte. All the talent in the world, sometimes shows up and is brilliant, sometimes doesn't care.

With a serve as good as Tsonga, getting broken 3 times in row to lose the 3rd set was very disappointing.

That Fognini fist pump after he broke Tsonga for the last time was absolutely legendary. Right after flicking his racquet to the ground.
