TTC announcers being stupid

I was just watching the Nadal/Henman massacre and nadal broke a string(not surprinsingly) and the showed a close up of the broken string and the one announcer says "well thats synthetic hmm is that big banger?" at this point im like someone please correct him then the other announcer says it surely looks so. If i was a Babolat rep i would be pretty mad they are dropping names of other companys that are in no way affiliated with the person or equipment they are talking about but at least it wasnt mcenroe talking about his new daughter for an hour or something so i cant complain to much;)

Unlike the fanatics on the board, most commentators and ex-players do not find it necessary to keep up with a) what is being used or b) who is using it nor do they have the time to do so. It really is not within reason to expect them to know what PJ or string or gauge, etc. etc. each pro is using.

...you think that's stupid...

have you heard the things that come out of carillo's or bud collin's garbage can of a mouth. this is pretty minor. they say the dumbest things.

I remember this. He said it sure 'doesn't' look like it. It is bright yellow. So its OK...

Maybe the TV networks could use an equipment expert. Kind of like the statistic input guys except better paid.

Lucky most of use can't get the tennis channel. I would get a dish if either of them carried it.

I think the Dish Network has started to carry The Tennis Channel.

I was watching ESPN Vivo and the one who suggested it was an older British dude and the other guy was a younger dude and it looks like they said the exact same thing. Maybe both networks tuned into the same commentating box?
How does that work?

they just license out the feed that uses the same 3 guys, 2 are Brits and 1 is American.

I agree though these guys are so much better than ESPN. For one thing they don't talk in the middle of points.

At least those two knew that Nadal uses poly, which is a favorite John Barrett rant of how it changed the game. But did you notice the rope Rafa uses in that stick? How he can break that in a day is unreal. Freakin 15 gauge Poly rope. Sir Shank-a-lot, eh? Big Banger comment was probably a rip at poly and topspin strokes in general.

I like these guys. I think it was recently (this year) that the American dude (Doug Adler I think?) came aboard. He's very opinionated which is great. He picks on the player's mistakes and brings a little spice to the super dry commenting of the older of the two british guys.
