I actually think I’m a lot better at singles than doubles @mad dog1 !

I don’t feel as natural in doubles and my doubles record agrees with that lol.
Doubles is a godd@mn team sport. You're only as good as the weakest team member. Like the weakest link defines the strength of a chain.

I play doubles cuz there's no other game in town. I put up with a lot of shi#%#ty partners. However, there are lots of sh#$#ty players who enjoy doubles it always feel like a challenge for their potentials.

My singles UTR has jumped a lot in the last month because I’ve been on a 7 match winning streak in singles.

It’s now up to 10.49 and hopefully I can surpass my peak level in 2013!

On the other hand, doubles keeps dropping, so it’s now 6.37. This means I have a difference of 4.12 in my singled and doubles UTR...

Keep taking screenshots as evidence as the gap keeps widening, post it when your singles UTR gets to 11+ and your doubs UTR hits 5, and then maybe it will be enough to motivate UTR to fix the bug.

I slowly start to catch how hitting approaches like there's no tomorrow is a key to a decent TTW ranking. But I read nowhere how following - or maybe NOT following - the endless list of technical tips and analysis debated over countless thread pages does affect the equation. :-D

Key references include TTW Ratings for Del Potro at 4.5 and Sampras 4.0

Last month in Ecuador I lost 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 (in best-of-5 match over 3 days) to a dude who beat Delpo. Since Delpo is 4.5, that validates my 3.0 TTW rating.
Hold on there Mister MGR/I Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here!!! TTW 3.0, really??? You are aware LeeD is a 4.0, right? Man,,the nerve of some people. Just because you played a few close sets with a world class player!?!? Let me ask you this, how would you do against Peanut Louie?? Right.....that’s what I thought!!!

Yeah, man. 2 full levels below the legend, LeeD, would be fair. I believe even LeeD would agree to that.

the rest of the stingy TT ratings police might not agree though.

I lot 3-6/3-6 to an ex atp pro. He retired 5 years ago. Was ranked inside 150. Do you think he let me win games or was the score legit? I'm starting to think I might have a shot at an $ open men's title.

It was at a corporate retreat in Florida last year. We had golf and tennis with pro and ex pro players as part of the perks

I think we all know how a corporate meet and greet works but it still sounds like fun

Maybe a better question is do we think @MaxTennis (UTR 11) took it easy on @travlerajm? (TTW 2.5-3.0)?
(Well, in fairness he CLAIMS TTW 3.0)

P.S. Next time tell the pro he loses 17% of his fee for every game he drops. If you win 6-0 he owes you a few bucks. Should be a better indicator

I asked him to play all out. So I think it's legit. Also I'm pretty sure max and trav played full effort. Max is a rec player just like trav.

But apparently I am atp caliber. Feels good.

  les français coloniseraient ce très américain forum?! Mais pourquoi?!
This response goes far beyond the French I learned in the 3rd grade. Had to resort to Google Translate.

FYI: More than 10,000 French words found their way into English – words associated with government, law, art, literature, food, and many other aspects of life. About three quarters of these words are still used, and words derived directly or indirectly from French now account for more than a third of English vocabulary.

NYC. But will you play full effort or just let me win games? I have gotten games off all the ex pros I've paid to coach and or play me. And I told them all to play all out against me.

I'm pretty sure I am atp top 250 level. Or 1st tier D1 level. Like UCLA and such.

Meantime have you taken on @J011yroger or the ineffable @JoelDali??

You will be severely disappointed. No I have never played anyone from here. I'm up for it. Just don't care that much. Only person I really wanted to play was ttps. But he was not willing to do so. Scared.

Ha! The big problem with all of these similar discussions (he was ATP #X, played D1, etc) is that the information provided about the opponent is woefully incomplete. I beat a guy in a tournament a few years ago that had gotten to ATP 550 in singles and played some doubles with Patrick McEnroe. But he was almost 50, overcoming an injury, and had taken a long break from tennis. So, not that shocking. If the guy was 35 years old and had been playing a lot of competitive tennis I would have lost 0/0. So, issues like age, injuries, volume of recent competitive tennis, desire (is there a financial incentive to go 100%), etc are just as important as what a player's peak level was. Yes, there are a lot of former pros that 4.5s can keep up with... it's just that they're mostly old, somewhat immobile, rusty, don't care, etc. And there are a lot of former pros (and guys who never played pro tennis!) that will beat a 4.5 0/0. It just depends on the circumstances, which vary greatly. For example, to say that I could play D1 tennis today is both accurate and meaningless because the bottom 10% of teams, the only ones I could play for, are terrible, while the top teams have quasi-professionals. As with so many things in life, the devil is in the details...

But he told me he was playing serious.
