Hey guys! Good to see some of you are still active and doing well. I moved to the Chicago area recently. I haven't been playing or training close to what I used to for the last 2 years or so... having a tough knee surgery and getting married will do that to you haha. But I do finally feel good now and am planning to go pretty hard for 2019. I actually turn 35 this year, so besides playing some open money tournaments I am definitely going to do the 35's nationals and the world championship since it is in Miami. I am just hoping to have some nostalgia doing what I used to do and try to find some good form again, but it can be frustrating not being at the same level at the moment.

Want to say a special hello to BounceHit, he is a great guy and really enjoyed our meeting and hit several years ago. There were several people here that I have not met but I really appreciated their kind words and support. Hope everyone is doing well :)

congrats and gl with the -30F temps coming in the next couple days. chi town does not seem like a tennis friendly place :p

Hasn't TTW taught you anything?!?! Wheres the trash talk and refusal to meet up in real life?!

It’s all good. [emoji41]

Jolly and I have already met and played in NYC on two occasions.

I am always ready to meet fellow TTW Peeps and have a hit. But as Jolly says those with the most internet bravado tend to shy away from real life play/competition.

I’ve played LOTS of competitive tennis in my life. I’ve won plenty and lost my fair share too. It is how tennis (and life) work. [emoji56]

It's all about indoor tennis in these cold frigid parts. However, -30 is almost too dangerous to venture out away from home. It's ridiculously cold.
i'd be worried about my car starting after a couple hours of indoor tennis :p

It’s not a joking matter, but it can be managed. Layer and keep extremities covered (good gloves are not a luxury), keep up on car maintenance, and keep your phone charged!
I’ve run in -20 temps before, and while not ideal, it wasn’t horrible either.

Grass nationals?

I'm thinking of hitting up the 45's this year in Philly, but don't ever play on grass (though my game is pretty well suited for it), so not sure how much of a detriment that will be...

Yep. I'm pretty good on grass.

dumb question, how does one qualify for 45 nationals on grass?
do i just need to play a couple local tourneys? do i need a min amount of wins?
hehe, i recognize i bunch of names i've played against locally from 2018

A couple of hours should be okay. I am here at work here today for about 6 hours in a park and ride lot. Hasn't hit 30 below yet but hoping my car starts or I'll have to have my wife come give me a jump start.
Guess what? My battery was shot from my car sitting. Windchills currently -30

brutal. hope you had backup.
yeah, i have issues earlier this winter at 10F with anything other than a new or freshly charged battery.
i've since installed those 1.8W solar chargers to help keep things topped off when the car sits for a while without being run.

Never works on me, as you found out oh so well.

You'd have to pay me for your lesson, or more accurately, your beat down. (on the court)

Sorry, you don't seem like the kind of person I am interested in meeting at all, which is why I have never actually offered to play you. However, same offer stands to anyone visiting AZ for meet ups and hits. I've really enjoyed meeting the different folks here and through other social media I've met, and I am actually meeting another member from here this Thursday. I'll let them vouche for me and a person and player, and I post enough video and match stats people know the good and bad of my play. Nothing dellusional or hidden, like some.

But roll with whatever ya need to Tiger.

Unfortunately I hadn't planned well and didn't have jumper cables. A random guy that I tracked down in the lot gave me a ride to a restaurant to warm up while I waited for my wife to pick me up so I could jump start the car.

big words for a guy that ducks challenges posed to him...

why are you even in this thread? did you mistake it for "ttw poaster that has avoided the most challenges to play"?

This is probably the nicest compliment I’ve ever received concerning my tennis!!! Some people here may recognize my young sparring partner. [emoji56] BHBH

JC, the ATP pro, former Vols, from down under (playing very casually)? Or someone from ttw?

Yes. I know on video it looks “casual” but trust me those serves and ground strokes are coming with pace, spin, and placement. [emoji122][emoji462][emoji122] His ankle is sore so not the same explosive movement of which he is more than capable at his best, however.

I’ll let him tell you how hard he’s trying in our next interview. [emoji3]

@BounceHitBounceHit ... great hitting. Out of all the quality strokes, I like the 1hbh and volley (you have to post more volleys 8-B) the best. Good for you ... still bringing some serve.

Question on your body weight squats for hamstrings. Do you still do those daily. I haven't done as many as I should, but seems I might should not do daily. Sometimes I can feel the actual spot where I tore the left one.

Yeah, I thought his movement was quite sloppy to what I’ve seen before. Get well soon Jarryd!

I bet they were very highquality shots, I meant casually by his standards. Didn't know he was hurt, but looked very sluggish and threw in that casually there. Anyway, you hit well and those volleys of yours.. you know a thing or two about volleys.

I was careful not to be rude:D!
But I didn’t honestly think he was vastly better than you. Anyway I’m a fan of yours so it’s normal to be a little biased:). Can I add you to my list of online mentors if you don’t mind?
