I get irked listening to Rennae Stubbs criticizing Caroline Wozniacki's game when the best results that Stubbs achieved in the game was #64 in the world rankings of women's singles. Caroline has reached #1, SF and Finals of majors. Stubbs only qualified for maybe 10 major singles draws and lost 1st round in most with her best result being 2nd round. Rennae was known as a dbls player but not all the best players play doubles. It is obvious that Rennae doesn't know what she is talking about or she would see all the great qualities in Woz's game. Since Rennae can't find it, then it makes sense that Rennae didn't know how to correct her own poor singles game!!!

Rennae won six slams in doubles, which is a lot more than Wozniacki will ever be able to say about her career once it's over (another slam-less number one who added nothing to the women's game).

I really don't think a commentator has to be as good as the person they are critiquing/criticizing. Stubbs knows tennis, and I'm sure she'd readily admit that she didn't achieve as much in singles as Woz. That really doesn't make her analysis inherently bad or wrong.

...then I guess Gilbert and others on his singles career level should be fired, as he never had the success of some of the majors champions he observes.

Clearly, the idea of matching success in order to qualify to be a commentator is illogical, so on that note, Stubbs can criticize the self-destructive Wozniacki.

Do you need to really achieve more to criticize someone else? Does a movie critic need to make a movie before he critiques it, or even moreso does he need to generate more revenue for a movie to prove his worth? So I guess Darren Cahill can't criticize someone ranked above 22 in the world.

You need to understand something, coaching, commentating are completing different than playing and watching.

And you also need to learn something really valuable. Criticism is actually valuable because what it is, basically is information for improvement. People who have ego problems who need to self inflate see criticism as a bad thing. The only thing bad surrounding criticism is the people who don't want to listen to it. Think before you type.
