TW Blog: Meet the Playtesters

I just read Sean's interview, and the review video for the Yonex V Core 100s that he mentions as his favorite playtest was hilarious.

He's like, "So yea, I find this racquet to be kinda flimsy *cue massive one handed backhand*. It just lacked the stability I'm looking for *hits blistering forehand*. It's really maneuverable, it just didn't have the weight to fit my game *blasts one more massive forehand for good measure*."

Lol, I laughed the whole way through. Brittany had some amazing shots in that review too. Those were some really impressive sequences.

You guys should hold a TW staff tournament at the end of every year to determine who acquires bragging rights throughout the next year.

I'd be putting my money on Spencer. Can never look past the dark horse :D

We have a new Meet the Playtesters for you! Up this week, the one, the only, Spencer Boller!

Check out his interview and video here:

classic good stuff.
by the way spennie basketball was my first sport too. thats why i always wear basketball shorts playing tennis. never could afford tennis shorts

I really noticed that recently you guys have been upping your game tremendously! How do I get an interview to be a playtester!! I only live like 4 hrs away. Worth the drive if i get to play tennis as my JOB! lol

Seriously though, the progress you guys have made in your game are incredible. Spencer is killing the ball and moving alot better. Chris is hitting the line more than ever. Brittany is hitting killer shots off under high pressure from her opponents and I've been seeing all the playtesters playing smarter then ever.

Good job everyone!

Have to say that Spencer is the reason I'll be a TW customer for life. Was on my first big racquet quest (definitely not my last) and I was aching to try a certain frame out with a certain stringjob that no one had and my local shop wouldn't allow. Well, Spencer read about that in some thread and sent me an email saying he actually had that particular frame and string setup that he could send me to try out. Totally unsolicited, he just wanted to help. He's just a good dude and I've been a TWer ever since.

Hello TW!

How come Mark Boone always uses the dunlop 4d 200, or at least says so on reviews, but on the playtester profile page his choice is a modified Head YOUTEK Radical MP and the dunlop is listed third behind the YOUTEK prestige pro???

Trust me, we know how lucky we are to be doing what we're doing. :-) We play pretty much everyday, testing new gear, so about 5 hours a week. Kana has left TW to explore other interests.

Jason, TW

did she return?

i saw her review on lacoste shoes that was recent.

"Oh, Jay likes to call me Australian (I’m actually from New Zealand) — not cool, not cool at all."

And what is so bad about being an Australian? :D

There's absolutely nothing bad about being an Australian. I love my friends down under.. I just love Middle Earth more!
Siobhan, TW

brittany i went back and watched some and i loved the one you did when you played qualifiers at indian wells!!!!!

Thanks Zapvor!

I had a lot of fun filming the Gotta Want It series. It made me realize how much I miss competing in tournaments.

Possibly a little sympathy in there because of NZ beating us in the world cup :D

Can't argue with Middle Earth as well. Well played Siobhan, well played.

Up this week is one of our CSR Supervisors, Mike Marquez. Check it out:

Played tennis for less than 5 years and already a 5.0? I envy you, haha. I'm going off of the rating listed on this page: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/PlaytestProfiles.html?ccode=MIKEM

My 8.0 mixed partner calls me monchichi too! I normally cut my hair to about half inch length but befoer I started cutting it myself, I was waiting about 3 months between haircuts so I had quite the fro.

Loved that little spin you gave the racket and the way you caught it at the beginning of your video, haha.

Very smooth form for playing for under 5 years. I haven't seen you in a playtest before - hopefully that will change.

Brittany,

How many are left? These have been awesome, see you guys at Indian Wells?

jonnyjack,

We only have one playtester left, Jose. I am glad you having been enjoying this series as much as I have had enjoyed putting it together. I do have a behind the scenes surprise coming in a couple weeks. Also, Chris, Jason, and I will be in Indian Wells the first week of the tournament. Make sure to say hello!

Brittany, TW

Haha - loved it! Granville is gangsta - never seemed like the kind of guy who'd stick it back to a cheater, but I enjoy him all the more for his story. Truly gangsta!

Up this week is our final playtester: Jose Angulo. This was a fun blog series for us to do! We hope you had fun reading and getting to know our playtesters a little better.
