This was a different David Martin actually, the one youre referring to I know of since he was at the US Open Nationals when I was there the summer before last, and is an excellent player. I did not see this tournament's #2 seed but saw he had a close match with Nelson, and Nelson probably would have been my opponent in the finals but he had to leave.
Landon actually is very solid, he plays a very consistent style of game. I thought I saw that he played D1 tennis at George Mason and has had some pretty good results in open events and some futures qualifying. His style just played into my hands though and I was able to be very aggressive. I think Townes (my QF opponent) was the best out there, with Nelson perhaps the next best.
Also, and Tony can probably speak about this better than me, but he is working to get his ranking and points up so he can get into the ITFs and Futures instead of being an alternate on a long list of players trying to break into a tournament.
