Thanks boojay!

Looks like he won his first round!

Not sure when he plays next but will update you guys when I get another blog from him.

And if anyone is in the area and wants to get some footage, that would be awesome since some board members have been interested in watching some points and we haven't come up with an easy way to get his matches on film.

Thanks guys!

No prob, Michelle.

Tony should be on court right now against the #1 seed, unfortunately, I'm tied up at work and can't make it.

LOL, a guy I know (have played against) made it into the 2nd round of qualifying and is on court right now too, but getting spanked. He's got a big serve (relatively speaking, ~120-125 mph) and great strokes, but goes for too much in matches. All you have to do is get the ball back in play and he'll usually get in trouble.

Looking at the stats, seems like Mott has a big serve. Tony really just had one rough game on serve that lost him the set, though. He still has a shot.

tony lost. it was bad luck to have to play that guy in the last rd. tony would of beat any other guy today in the qualls

Tough draw for Tony, I didn't know he had a leg injury so that likely was a factor. That said, I may have seen Blake practice yesterday with the main draw No. 1 seed (200 ranked player) and Blake's strokes are silky smooth, even nicer than the main guy. Main Draw No. 1 is a whole new level though, his power is just otherworldly.

Looking at Motts stats, he seems like a good prospect. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a top 100 player.

damn - didn't seem like he had much of a chance there! Which round was that??
Definitely had chances, close games and big points didn't go my way though today.

My thoughts exactly :( This kid played tough. It was very good tennis for most of the match. I had a few blips but otherwise it simply was just him getting on top. He had a very good serve and also aggressive from the baseline. I did have some minor physical issues but I didn't let it bother me much.

There will be more chances! More tournaments to go this summer. Thanks for your support guys

Starting the Minneapolis Aquatennial tournament tomorrow! It is a really fun event downtown right under the skyscrapers, where the set out a court piece by piece in a plaza. There is live streaming again of the event at this website as in past years:

Also found a video of a little serve/return practice I had with ATP doubles professional Eric Butorac last fall!

Crossley and Heiden are teaching pros at the club I belong to. Good luck to them! They'll need it facing off against a current Gopher and ex Gopher player.

I watched a few minutes of the beast known as Tony!!

Those tiles they are using are the ones I play on at my home courts. They aren't bad , but any flat shots, or driving slices tend to skid on them and get past your expected contact point before you're quite ready.

if they're going to go to all the trouble for the different camera angle streams, might as well just pick one angle and give us sound

$750?

Um... okay, I guess. I thought it was at least $1,000, but the draw was considered 'weak'.

Nevertheless, congrats Tony!

Question for Tony: Do you even use the money for yourself besides expenses?
