Tw Buyer - Nike Zoom Vapor 3/breathe Free 3 Clay Court Editions

I have noticed that the pros are wearing special clay court editions of the Vapor Zoom 3s and the Breathe Free 3s. Any chance of asking Nike if these could be made available to TW and its loyal customers?!!

Carl, which pros are you seeing that appear to be wearing a special clay court version of the Vapor 3? I'm 99% certain there is no clay court Vapor being sold in the US but will double check with Nike. Don/Tennis Warehouse

TW Buyer - Nike Clay Court Versions

At the Houston tournament last week I saw James Blake wearing the Zoom Vapor 3s with a special clay court sole (herringbone). Also, I saw a picture of Pual Goldstein wearing Breathe Free 3s with the same sole. In Monte Carlo this week, you can see most of the players wearing the Breathe Free 3s have a special clay court sole. I know these special edition of the shoes are usually made for the pros, but last year I scored a pair of Zoom Vapor 2s in both clay and grass sole versions at Nordstrom Rack - so at some point Nike does get these out to the public. Just thought that with your connections with Nike you may be able to get some of these shoes now. Just asking --

Do you play on clay and/or grass? What need do you have for these different soles? If you have a contact in Europe, then I'm sure you could pick up a pair.

Clay and Grass are not that uncommon here in the US (especially clay)
I would be interested in a pair of the clay zooms as well.

First off, thanks Don. Second, the club I belong to has 6 clay courts, so I play on the clay at least once a week. Also, there are several grass courts close by. The grass court (dimple) sole also work great on clay (even if they tear the court up a bit!).

Tw Buyer - Update

Just checking if you ever heard back from Nike on the availability of these special versions of the Vapor Speed or Breathe Free (wishful thinking). Thanks.

Tw Buyer --

Just wondering if you ever heard back from Nike on this. If not, I'll just consider getting a pair of Animos, since they seem to have the same sole.

Hey Carl,
I guess a "no response" means they won't be getting them. You can get them from a store in France, but it ends up costing a lot of money, and you could just get some of the clay friendly soles available around here.

Sorry for not posting sooner. Nike informed us that they won't be distributing a clay court version of the Vapor 3 or Breathe 3 in the US. As Jonas points out, there are many other clay court friendly shoes available. Go to http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/catthumbs.html?CREF=138 for a list of shoes we consider well suited to clay courts, including the current Breathe 3... Don/Tennis Wraehouse
