TW Fantasy Football 2018

The TW Fantasy Football league on Yahoo will be returning for yet another season of action. Right now there are 8 teams, but if anyone is interested in joining please leave your email address and I will send you an invite. If all returning teams could please check in and let me know they will be back, it would be greatly appreciated.

The draft is scheduled for Sunday, Aug 26 at 8PM. If this conflicts with anyone's schedule please let me know so that I can adjust accordingly if need so.

Count me in again!

The date works for me, an hour earlier would be better though. I’m in the UK so 7PM (midnight my time) would be more manageable, if that’s possible.

I'd be interested if there are vacancies. I'd prefer a 12 team league though for parity's sake. At least 10 would be fine, but 8 is too few IMO

I won’t be able to do the draft, but I’m fine with putting a list of guys on the site and autopicking

@Daniel-San

it’s definitely competitive. In 2 of the 3 years I’ve played I’ve lost a top pick to injury early in the season and not been able to recover. In other leagues that’s happened you can usually still challenge.

I did win the league the season I had no injuries though ;)

If it’s a twelve team league then that’s usually the case. Not a ton of depth. Mainly have to get lucky with one or two breakout guys (like Devonta Freeman a few years back)

It’s all luck IMO. I’ve come in 2nd place for 3 years straight in my main 12 team league that’s pretty competitive, and it’s really just been luck and avoiding injuries

I haven’t really looked over the league settings? Is it standard or ppr? 4 points per passing touchdown or 6?

Luck definitely plays a part. I was in 4 championship games last year and lost them all to teams with Gurley (he had 40+ points on his own I think).

As for numbers, I think 10 teams is usually a good mix of having decent waiver wire options, brings in the option for streaming certain positions etc.. with 12 teams it takes those options away I think, not much happens after the draft so those leagues aren’t as active imo.

The settings are .5 ppr and 4 points for a passing TD, so fairly standard.

4 championship teams is impressive. The amount of overlap between that many teams makes it hard to do something like that, unless you had the same guys on each team. If so, I commend your boldness

Thanks, it was a combination of a couple of things.. One was the overlap (took Hunt late, Keenan Allen when nobody trusted him after injuries, Thielen near the end etc..). The other thing was they were mostly UK leagues, which aren't quite as competitive.

Hoping for another Championship appearance in this one though, quite pleased with how the draft went!

Pfft. I thought the two worst draft spots were meant to stick together and give it to the Bell and Gurley owners?

I’m not usually too keen on having a top pick, but hey, I don’t make the draft order.

I did think that CMC in the 2nd was too good to pass up on in half ppr

I liked that pick. Norv Turner historically has a bell cow back, plus he’s going to be top 5 in receptions at the position, I’d imagine.

There’s some interesting looking teams, my bench is ridiculously strong. Everyone seemed to be taking 2 tight ends early so I took the value of Alshon, Penny and Michel late instead. Tight end is such a volatile and relatively low scoring position so I’ve always left it till last. Eifert is top 5 if he plays 16.. he probably won’t last past week 2 knowing his history, but it’s low risk, high reward that late I think.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous that Cooks is on my bench

Sorry guys, been thinking about whether or not I'll be running the league again or not this year. If there's enough interest and there will be 10 active owners then i will renew, if not then I don't think I will with how busy I am with adulting along with my other leagues. Just chime in here and let me know if you are in or out.

I’ll play. Would it still be on yahoo?

Yes I play all but one league on there so it’s easier. If people want to try Sleeper (that’s where my dynasty league is) I could make it there but for now the plan is Yahoo

Yahoo works for me. I’m at the league limit on the official NFL site so was checking it wouldn’t be on there.

@Feña14 @jamesblakefan#1 not sure why no one showed up to the draft but I'm leaning toward deleting the league for this year and trying again next year. New owner wants out already. I told him it was as competitive as a money league (which it was in the past) but since no one showed up I look like an idiot and he's not gonna manage his team now. Don't see much point in keeping the league open with only 3 active owners. Let me know what you think.

That always happens at the draft. Last year there were only 3-4 in the draft, but everyone set their teams each week I seem to remember. Looking at the total waiver moves, everyone made quite a few by the end of the season.

Maybe see if that’s the case again during the opening weeks.
