TW, please start listing unstrung weight of racquets!

Having the strung weight is great, but I would love to also know the unstrung weight. With 305g being so common, it's just easier to know where it is in relation to that. I've sometimes had to go to other sites to look up the unstrung weight since I wasn't sure how much the strings weigh that were used.

Curious how this will help you. You have strung and unstrung data. Now you string with your string. What happens if your frame has a different starting mass? And your string is heavier or lower than the one TW uses. To truly understand whats going on, don’t you need the measured unstrung mass, balance and SW? Then compare with strung equivalents? And then what?

edit I prefer to know only the strung specs. I can guess what the unstrung data should be and if matching, just start with something low enough that is possible to get to preferred specs.

When they do matching TW provide unstrung specs. This includes wrapping on handle and the placard so it will be a few grams different. It would make sense to list the unstrung specs.

HunterST,

It has been requested in the past as well. I am not sure at this time if it will get updated on TW any time soon. However, our TWE site does have some unstrung specs.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

Not sure what you're asking. I just want to know the goal unstrung weight of the racquet.

Let’s say manufacturer has goal of 305 grams. TW measures unstrung frame and it is 308 grams. That will affect strung mass, balance and SW. Now let’s say TW had picked a light frame and measured 301 grams. Different strung mass, balance and SW. Problem is balance and SW difference does not have to be congruent if 1st frame is more headlight than the 2nd frame.

OP is just asking the manufacturer stated number. Fair request. Probably not as easy to implement due to the background racket database that TW website uses and how they started with it. I'm sure they could do it but if there are any errors if could break their database and website and effect sales since they are a 24 hour operation. I would subtract 17g or 18g for string weight to arrive at an average unstrung weight - wont be the manufacturer stated number but should be close.

100% unstrung is the way to go. I have to research it on other sites, then come back to TW. Listing an additional variable like strung weight makes no sense.

While I used to be in the OP’s camp, the truth is, the numbers really don’t matter. What TW posts is an average measurement of randomly selected frames (5-7, I believe). So whatever they post isn’t going to necessarily reflect a single frame. If the final numbers are really that important to you, either (a) pay for the matching service, or (b) order 5 frames, measure them yourself, and keep the 2 (or 3 or however many you want) that are closest to your desired specs.

And in all honesty…is it really that hard to type in “www.yonex.com” or “www.babolat.com” (yes, I know you can leave off the “www.”) and click 2-3 times to see the manufacturer’s target specs? I mean…how lazy have we become?
