Does anyone listen to shoegaze bands? I got Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, and have one song by Ride. Are there any other shoegaze bands/albums that you all would recommend?

Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine is awesome. Nowhere by Ride. Soulvaki by Slowdive.

Edit: Also Going Blank Again by Ride, though after "Leave Them All Behind" it's more pop than shoegaze.

Thanks. I have a song called Twisterella off of Going Blank Again and I really like it. I'm listening to Loveless right now by MBV, its pretty awesome

^^^whoa, did you somehow know that I got pegged three times in clinic this morning!!! One day I will learn the 'face-volley'.

When I was a wee one, my BFF down the street had one of those battery operated microphones, and we *always* chose to sing Pat!

Behold good people of the boards.

THE TEMPER TRAP.

Listen to them. Love them. Worship them if you must but be warned, they consume copious amounts of Foster's.

It's been a few weeks but just bought the new Arctic Monkeys album yesterday and have to say it's even better than their first two. Not as catchy as the first two but it's actual real music rather than singalongs for 14 year old girls to scream to.

My Propeller, Crying Lightning, Secret Door, Cornerstone, Potion Approaching, Pretty Visitors, and The Jeweler's Hands all great tracks. Only one I don't like is Dangerous Animals.

Great album.

Oh! You know what song is AWESOME that I used to listen to in my younger years on repeat?

Soft as Snow

That was a great song. Unfortunately I lost the album during one of my many house movings... but you've reminded me to go d/l it pronto.

Probably doesn't fit the thread, but I luv this song and find it appropriate at this particular time for several reasons:

a. Baseball metaphor (playoffs in full swing)
b. My girth is approaching his girth :(
c. One of the greatest lines in rock and roll ("Let me sleep on it")
d. The infernal triangle - a guy, a girl and the eternal question ("Will you love me forever?")
d. Just a rockin' good time

Very interesting. Very.

P.S. The flute is for you, Lady Topaz. :)

But I can't see the youtube!!!!!

I found this site a few days ago (in trying to find sites for streaming stuff for my students)...

Kinda fun, and I found this guy today during lunch...

Very cool funky/contemporary/alternative/jazz/fusion type of stuff.

Interesting version of that trusty old Irish angst song from U2:

Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I find it intriguing.

BTW, blackfrido, nice addition. Very gentle voice and excellent guitar work. Thanks for participating. :-)

I'm glad you like it! Just one more comment about this and other latin rock bands > "they have a very creative producer" Gustavo Santaolalla that help them sound very good.
Santaolla is Winner of the 2007 Oscar for the original score of the motion picture Babel and the 2006 Oscar for the score of Brokeback Mountain as well as a Golden Globe (Best Original Song) for Brokeback's "A Love that Will Never Grow Old" among some other awards.

Oh, man, this is some seriously cool stuff. Didn't want it to end. The mix of music from the different instruments - base fiddle, violin, accordian - is amazing, and live, to boot! I could listen to this all day.

Here's one I just found. Totally different from above, but still nice stuff:

You can tell my tastes in music are difinitely ecclectic! :)
