Two things will change in 2022

1) Big 3’s stronghold on slams will end, this match shows they’re not invincible in BO5 and the young generations can and will start beating them. Federer has already clocked out, but times ticking for Nadal and Djokovic, who’s slam winning days are running out.

2) Djokovic will be more universally loved. I think this final loss and his incoming decline will most likely lead to tennis fans worldwide no longer disliking him. His career is winding down, he can’t keep winning anymore, and fans will realize that the tennis world is losing the greats. Like it or not Federer’s finished, Nadal is very close to being finished, and Djokovic’s decline has started. Like or hate him, Novak is still a legend of the sport, and he won’t be able to hold on much longer, and people will celebrate his achievements more than ever, realizing that his time is done.

Said it before ( see my posting history) that Us open 2021 is slam from where next generation will go hard, and will take over completely from either AO 22 or uso 22

LMAO quite BS please! Djokovic is absoultely winning at least two more grand slams! (And both in 2022 likely actually!)...Then everybody on this forum yet again will eat the crow!...
Big fan of Novak but Novak problem is that his best surface(hc) is also the best surface of next gen.
He needs one hc and Wimbledon next year to shut down the Slam race.

It’s easy to say this now but I’m absolutely certain that winning slams is going to become much harder for Djokovic and Nadal.

Yes as Novak best surface hc is also the best surface of many players but Rafa can win one RG

That doesn't necessary mean it won't happen! He can still keep winning them even if it'll be harder! Nobody from next gen has power to dominate on all surfaces not even Medvedev! He'll keep adding either at RG or the Wimbledon and even AO isn't completely ruled out!...

Still can’t see anybody beating Djokovic at Wimbledon next year. His best surface is hard court, for sure, but the gap is far greater between himself and everyone else on grass.

Usual TTW moment a big 3 loses.

Relax, Djokovic not going anywhere. He will meet Tsitsipas or Berretini in FO / Wimb and it will be straight sets all over again,

I said this at the end of 2020. Ate crow, I was wrong. Glad Medvedev finally got the title, but it's going to take another several brutal beatdowns of Novak to push him out of the game. I hope the younger guys are up for it.

Still would bet against Djokovic being done. This was more a case of the pressure getting to Djokovic. Med was essentially in the right place at the right time. Djokovic is still better than he is on HC and I don't see that changing next year.

He was understandably gassed and lost but no one wins every time and he's still the toughest player in great shape and has sublime shots. He's the best on grass now by far. So yeah it sould be harder going on but things are not looking bad for Djokovic.
