hi, does anyone have any tips or insights on how to tie finishing knots to minimize tension loss? i am already increasing tension 3 lbs on that last string before i tie it. i am pulling on the knot pretty hard down by the frame and shaking it back and forth a couple of times. any insights would be appreciated by you pros out out there!

That sounds pretty good. You can't tie the knot without losing some tension. You can over-tension the last string as you mentioned, but 3lbs. is probably not enough for most strings. Some people do 4 some 8lbs. I think 8lbs. is probably pretty close for most strings, but it will vary from string to string. I tend not to worry about it too much. That outside main or last cross won't generally spoil the string bed, and you shouldn't be using that string to hit the ball with anyway. ;-)

You might want to not pull too hard when cinching up those knots. Take extra care not to pull the pliers toward your face.

This man is wise. I gashed my face a few years back. I have a little bump (can't see it, but it's there) on my face now.

LOL! I don't need no pliers to injure myself! Last Saturday, I was stringing my Prestige with a WeissCANNON poly and while I was running my hand along the length to find the end, I didn't realize that the string was already short so I didn't slow down and the end of the string came flying into my face and right into my right eyebag, literally a centimeter away from my eyeball. Talk about poking your eye out! :p

thanks guys...i guess some things you just get better at by doing them enough times and making some mistakes along the way. i just want to get better at stringing even though i can do a decent job now after only stringing about 4 or 5 frames.
