Well, my eyes haven't bee fooling me, when watching Anderson's earlier matches this USO!

What a fantastic victory, fully deserved.
Cool guy. CONGRATS to The Kevinator!!!

My commisserations to the Muzziah fans...

Yup, he was just as impressive against Thiem. After seeing that match I knew Murray could be in trouble regardless of their previous encounters.

People here are often too focused on names and H2H while not taking player form into account.

The other thing I like about this besides just the fact Anderson is in the QF's is that his brand of tennis is awesome. He's a tall guy with the big serve but he's also moving well and hitting the ball so well. Plus, he's showing he has the consistency and stamina to actually hang around in the rallies too. He's the whole package right now, which is why he's in the QF's and quite possibly beyond.

Clutch play by anderson there. Now That puts Novak's Wimbledon win into perspective.

Anderson can be a tough tough customer. I doubt anyone other than Fed can defeat him comfortably.

Fed has the knack to handling big servers with ease. Novak and Murray should learn a thing or two from him.

In comparison to those two Federer would be able to handle Anderson fairly well because Federer actually attacks right from the word GO. Djokovic and Murray are content to rally all day until they realize they're in deep **** and actually have to put something on their shots.

Well, the H2H actually indicates that this could've been a tough match for Murray, because Kevin won their only match on this particular surface, although in Canada 4 years ago. :)

Exactly!

And isn't THAT the truth. How I'd wish for certain folks to *shut up* and finally actually start WATCHING TENNIS when it happens as it does! :)

Exactly - he's got the most well rounded game of the 'big boys'. If he can play like this on anything like a consistent basis and be more mentally clutch more often, he could easily be a top-10 player.
Unlike most other big servers, he actually has a decent return game.

Don't think that's entirely fair to Murray, he tried to be a bit more aggressive in the 4th set, hit some DTL BHs and went to the net, tried to move Anderson around more etc. Problem is, Kevin just stepped it up big time in the tiebreak, crushed Murray's 2nd serve and even won that long rally.

He was still a whiny little brat though. That didn't change. ;)

Just got a whole lot easier for Fed. Crap!!!
5-0 in matches and 10-0 in the last 10 sets say the challenge for Fed wasn't primarily Murray. I'm more concerned about Stan (and as concerned about Berdych and possibly Isner tbh).
That said, a match vs. Murray could be tiresome and leave him drained.
Plenty of tennis left before a potential final anyhow.

Come to think of it, it is better for Murray to not lose to Fed yet again. It was getting a bit too much. (Assuming Fed makes the SF)
I'm happy that Anderson won. Just saying that it's too bad for Murray (from his perspective) since he seemed to be doing better and better and getting back to his slam-winning level. At least that's the impression I got when he beat Djokovic in the cincy final
EDIT: Montreal final..

@tipsa...don'tlikehim! "I can't believe I bet Coric to beat Anderson in Winston salem 2 weeks ago"
Anderson had been in a post-Wimbledon slump, not that bad a call at the time (I have Anderson winning combined with Fed winning in 4 today - could happen now.....).

Federer is pretty vulnerable to big hitters these days. Don't let some good runs at Cincinatti and a good first week let you forget that.

You mean Montreal final ? I saw an earlier reference to a 'good Cincy' as well and was wondering if you were talking of a QF or earlier round victory by Murray :)

And you are stupid for wanting your favorite player to go through tougher opponents.

Relax. Listen, Federer is never going to win that 18th slam regardless of how easy or difficult of a draw he gets in grand slams. The sooner you accept that the better. :D

Told him he was heartless because he showed no emotion, coaxed him into an awkward post match fist pump, and tried to get him to rip his shirt off WWE style...much to the disappointment of many ttw members, Anderson didn't go for it.

Ugh. Does he act like a tool only with guys like Anderson ? Or does he do it with the likes of Djoker/Fed ?

Montreal final, but yes.
Sad for Murray, but Anderson truly deserved this match - hopefully he can build on it and become a contender in the future. I quite like his game, when he's on.

Anyhow - Andy was probably not gonna win this US Open anyhow, had as tough a draw as they come.
Commiserations to the Murray fans

And once again, congrats to Anderson - truly an epic win for him! :)

agreed. Novak should attack more IMO. It will make his game much more versatile. Obviously Novak also attacks serves, but He always struggles against big servers. Fed somehow pulls it off SOB.

do I wanna know what Gilbert is saying?
Something like this:
BG: Come on, show some emotion! Show us that you've won the 4th round!!! You don't show anything!
KA:Well i did show some emotion after that important point in the fourth se...
BG: *points at Kevin's chest* IS THERE ANYTHING IN THERE!?!?!?!

It was very awkward for Kevin, who really handled it pretty well. I would've probably shown some signs of irritation, even if I tried my best to play along. He basically forced Kevin to cheer and jump up and down, which Kevin did. And then at the end of the interview he told Kevin to roar loudly but Kevin just laughed it off and walked away.

I give him a 25% chance of getting to 18. Good thing is, I give Nadal a 0.1% chance of getting to 17 :D
I'm satisfied with Rafa being at 14. With the way he's playing, he deserves to stay at 14. No one playing as poorly as he is deserves a grand slam or even a title. Plus, I've still got Nole to root for. :D:p

And I don't care if neither Nole nor Rafa make it to 17. I already accept that Roger is the GOAT. I've been of that view since 2010 - when Rafa was completing the career slam and looked like he could catch Roger. So....:p

What a complete and utter failure, that Gilbert fellow.
I cringed looking at it, but fortunately Anderson kept his composure, cool as always.

I guess certain journo's and/or pundits will now claim that Kevin has "no personality".

Rather the contrary, imho!

Usually I'd be pretty disappointed when Murray loses in a slam because he usually goes Quarters or better but today I'm not. Anderson gave Murray NOTHING, his serves stood tall, his returns dented Murray's second serve and he capitalized on Murray's rather passive play. I hope this victory is a confidence springboard for Anderson, he's a dangerous player and a nice bloke.

As for Murray, reverting back to negativity equals negativity, sometimes attack is the best form of defence.

Monster victory by Anderson, honestly did not see coming even at fourth set, I remembered the huge choke at Wimbledon against Djokovic, but well done...

Yawn, yawn, yawn, whatever floats your boat. Now off to bed with you before your head explodes trying to come up with an insult to Murray that actually hits home! :D
Don't mind him. He's just mad because Wawrinka will most likely beat Anderson in straight sets and be fresh for Federer in the SF. Coward that he is, tennis_pro really does not want a fresh Wawrinka facing Federer in a grand slam (remember the outcome the last time that happened?) Tennis_pro was hoping Murray would win and then either beat Wawa and be too tired to beat or even challenge Federer himself, or lose but tire out Wawrinka enough for Federer to get the win in a relatively comfortable fashion. So, you see, he's not really mad at the Muzz. He's just a ruthless, cowardly opportunist.
