We need an unlike button.Well.. The way Murray played this tournament he probably wouldn't have beat Federer anyways.. Stan is far more dangerous at the moment If he just realizes he isn't Fed's pigeon

I'm very satisfied with 17, too. But I'm human, so I'm greedyI'm satisfied with Rafa being at 14. With the way he's playing, he deserves to stay at 14. No one playing as poorly as he is deserves a grand slam or even a title. Plus, I've still got Nole to root for.
And I don't care if neither Nole nor Rafa make it to 17. I already accept that Roger is the GOAT. I've been of that view since 2010 - when Rafa was completing the career slam and looked like he could catch Roger. So....![]()
You mean South African accent?Anderson's lisp makes him that much more likeable, doesn't it?![]()
Murray has been playing like a pusher all the time, giving the targets to Anderson, who, surprisingly, didn't choke (like he used to during his whole career). Instead, he has been blowing him off the court with his serve and the forehand.
Hence one more time. For the 18th time.I'm very satisfied with 17, too. But I'm human, so I'm greedy![]()
Nah. He's definitely got a lisp. His South African accent is not even noticeable. I would know, one of my teacher in secondary school was South African (Afrikaans). You mean South African accent?
Clutch play by anderson there. Now That puts Novak's Wimbledon win into perspective.
Anderson can be a tough tough customer. I doubt anyone other than Fed can defeat him comfortably.
Fed has the knack to handling big servers with ease. Novak and Murray should learn a thing or two from him.
I hate to break it to you 3Fees, but that was a bagel. 7-1 would be french fry or breadstick. Close but no cigar on that one.Anderson gives Murray a Bread stick, tie breaker 7-0

Cheers

Spent 6 weeks there over various trips, but your British South African accent maybe is lisp like. Afrikans is your other SA accent.Nah. He's definitely got a lisp. His South African accent is not even noticeable. I would know, one of my teacher in secondary school was South African (Afrikaans).
Temps should be a bit lower and that will help Wawa marginally (slower ball speed). Definite afternoon match and I think Wawa will be toast. He will not break KA easily. Wawrinka's inconsistency combined with KA's hot returning would make this a KO for KA, once again.Yeah. But not sure after this KA is going to have much for Stan.
BG is the bomb. Not his fault that Anderson is not as personable as Nads, Djoker, or T Fed.What's with the on court interviews? The ones after Djokovic's and Wawrinka's matches were awful too
Wawrinka has no chance. One break in each set and he will be toast. Anderson played marginally tonight compared to last two weeks. The last tiebreaker shows the real Anderson. If Anderson recovers from today's match (4h19m which is pretty long) he's got a good shot at Wawrinka. I wouldn't count on it. Mentally he's probably maxed out for the tournament.
You are saying Anderson would do worse on faster courts???????This is why we need faster courts! Bet Anderson wouldn't able to hit through Murray's defense for four sets on Plexicusion. He could have done it on grass though.
This outcome makes Djokovic's Wimbledon win look even more impressive.
Murray has a beautiful game. Forget the pushing comments, I'm talking about his strokes, the athleticism, balance, the net skills and variety. Very smooth. I could watch it all day.
Agreed. T Fed is a big, big server so he will benefit in hot weather and should be able to hang with Anderson under any circumstances. KA has more than he showed tonight, but I think Fed will pull though in TBs and other key points. In comparison to those two Federer would be able to handle Anderson fairly well because Federer actually attacks right from the word GO. Djokovic and Murray are content to rally all day until they realize they're in deep **** and actually have to put something on their shots.
I have read thousands of articles about Murray over the past 9 years and I have never heard his game described EVER as "beautiful" or "smooth."
But to each his own.![]()
With new enclosure (and/or high temps) the USO is becoming a Servebot paradise. T Fed will roar again. If Wawa somehow is not KO'd by KA, he might stop Jurassic Park. Djoker vs. Fed will really be something, but depending on weather very likely Jurrasic domination.![]()
Relax. Listen, Federer is never going to win that 18th slam regardless of how easy or difficult of a draw he gets in grand slams. The sooner you accept that the better.![]()
I think this is crucial when it comes to Murray. He simply doesn't have a weapon that can change the outcome of an rally/point (big and consistent serve, big forehand etc), so he has to rely on his defense and to hope that his opponent misses. But that's simply not enough against some of the guys who can actually hit through him or can out-grind him.Story of Murray's career continues in US Open. I wouldn't say, he intentionally pushes or gives targets to hit. These days, he plays fairly offensive Tennis but still he hasn't got tools to impose his game over orthodox super offensive players like Federer, Wawrinka, Anderson and even against Dimitrov. He certainly can impose his offense over defensive player (Djokovic like we have seen numerous times this season) and against unorthodox offensive players Kyrgios or Tsonga but he can't do the same against guys having great serve, offensive footwork and great orthodox forehand technique. He can just wait for destruction coming to end, if these guys are zoning and nothing more. Offense has remained inherent weakness of his game for several reasons. WTA serve, average forehand and virtually nonexistent offensive footwork are few, I can name on top off my head. No coach could change that. This is why I keep saying, Federer will GOATing and destroying him till his mid forties since Murray allows him to do so. Same can't be said for Djokovic.
We'll see, won't we?With new enclosure (and/or high temps) the USO is becoming a Servebot paradise. T Fed will roar again. If Wawa somehow is not KO'd by KA, he might stop Jurassic Park. Djoker vs. Fed will really be something, but depending on weather very likely Jurrasic domination.
BG trying to get some personality out of Sir Serve Bot. BG screwed the pooch trying to get KA to roar. KA is pretty personable given his on court demeanor. If you want to be the best, you also need to enjoy being the best and that means putting on a show in your interview. BG just trying to help KA bring on the personality.Something like this:
BG: Come on, show some emotion! Show us that you've won the 4th round!!! You don't show anything!
KA:Well i did show some emotion after that important point in the fourth se...
BG: *points at Kevin's chest* IS THERE ANYTHING IN THERE!?!?!?!
It was very awkward for Kevin, who really handled it pretty well. I would've probably shown some signs of irritation, even if I tried my best to play along. He basically forced Kevin to cheer and jump up and down, which Kevin did. And then at the end of the interview he told Kevin to roar loudly but Kevin just laughed it off and walked away.
He's not even the best south African player ever...Great win for Anderson either way. He's definitely one of the greatest African players ever.
Blah, blah, blah. He's not even the best south African player ever...
A wise observation, but the Serve Bot did not look gassed. If Wawa gifts some breaks he will be in serious trouble.I don't know if we can read too much into the H2H between Anderson and Wawrinka now it is a GS quarter final, different pressure and different format (best of 5) + Anderson played over 4 hours today...I think Wawrinka will win
Fast approaching. Kevin Curren and Johan Kriek had higher rankings. Anyone else? He's not even the best south African player ever...
Curren for me is the man. He was a giant slayer when he was at his best.Fast approaching. Kevin Curren and Johan Kriek had higher rankings. Anyone else?
[emoji37] [emoji37] [emoji37] [emoji38] [emoji38] [emoji38]Murray will kill him

Federer is the greatest African Tennis player ever [emoji13]Great win for Anderson either way. He's definitely one of the greatest African players ever.
Wayne Ferreira. Career high No 6. Twice semifinalist at AO.Fast approaching. Kevin Curren and Johan Kriek had higher rankings. Anyone else?
C'MAAAAAAAWNNNN duude, DO SOMETHING!!!!! RIP YOUR SHIRT OFFFF!!!!! C'MAAAWWWNNNNdo I wanna know what Gilbert is saying?
Wow you are God.Anderson in 4. Calling it.
Dude, Federer has won the last 5 matches in a row against Murray winning 10 sets in a row (Nadal as never even done that against his pigeon Federer) and 13 of the last 14 sets, that one set he even served for and Murray ended up winning on a tiebreak. In the last 3 matches Murray hasn't even broken Federer and this includes a 6-0 6-1 beatdown that even Murray fans said should have been a double bagel but Federer felt bad for Murray and a win at Wimbledon - both matches in the UK so effectively Murray's home crowd. PLus Murray has not exactly been looking good in this tournament anyway, 2 sets to0 down vs Mannarino and Anderson.... I worry more aout Isner, Anderson and Berdych. Isner and nderson could get Federer on tiebreaks.Just got a whole lot easier for Fed. Crap!!!
Exactly [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]You can always tell when Anderson hits a winner. Dead silence in the commentator booth.
Not quite but getting there.Oh wow, he's suddenly taken over that role from Kyrgios, has he?
Agree with you. Kevin will probably be a tougher deal, than Murray, Fed knows Murray much better.I worry more aout Isner, Anderson and Berdych. Isner and nderson could get Federer on tiebreaks.
His accent is hardly South African by now - he's been 'out' for too longYou mean South African accent?
'Muricahere is how CNN initially reported this match, "unknown S. African"?they have since changed it to "South African Kevin Anderson", guess I am not the only one who was unhappy about it.

yup but he also has to make that second serve less attackable.Murray peaked too soon during the US Open series.
Not quite but getting there.
Agree with you. Kevin will probably be a tougher deal, than Murray, Fed knows Murray much better.
However, it's sad for Murray.
Thought he had come back from his back issues, and that this court would suit him.![]()
