U.S. Open can't be a national championships says Mouratoglou

As usual, he is talking Garbage.

The four ITF MAJORS Tournaments have ALWAYS been NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS FIRST AND FOREMOST !!!

Every American, French, Australian and English player dream of winning their Home MAJOR. It is extra special because it is also their National Championship.

The organisers of the Australian Open will do everything in their power to bring international players here for AO 2021 assuming it is staged - and that is not a given at this point in time. But if international players cannot come, it will still be run as the Australian National Championships with a field of Australian players.

What do you think the Us Open is going to be a national championship?
The US Open IS a National Championship.

It is run by the International Tennis Federation, NOT the ATP or the WTA !!!

All of the four MAJORs are National Championships. They always have been. And always will be! (Actually in the early days, the tournament currently known as the Australian Open was actually the Australasian Championships ... it was the National Championships for both Australia and New Zealand.)

Forget what Mouratoglou is saying. He doesn't know what he is talking about. And he is not faithful to long standing Tennis Traditions. All he cares about is money !!!

So what? What do you want to say?
Only the American players will be there?

The Americans will be there because they don't have to negotiate plane travel and crossing international borders in a global pandemic.
Yes. So if the tournament can be staged, it will be staged even if the field is only American players.

Mouratoglou's argument doesn't stack up. He is suggesting that these tournaments should not go ahead without the Top players. I call BS on that.

My guess is that neither will play the USO 2020.
And the way things are going in Australia at the moment, both are unlikely to play the AO2021.
What? Are you crazy?
Djokovic and Nadal will not be participating in the 2020 US Open and the 2021 Australian Open?
How the hell do you know that?

They are putting it on barring some newly emergent catastrophic development with the pandemic. But it could be a radically weakened championship.
Well, I think that is obvious. But I would rather see tennis played even if it is a weakened event than no tennis at all. The sport needs to continue.

Remember, Tennis is an INDIVIDUAL SPORT!

I think you are getting a bit worked up because you are not reading posts properly ... or you are not understanding them properly.

I said "UNLIKELY". Do you understand the meaning of the word "unlikely"?

But it is not tradition to put on a slam with a B-team these days, so Mouratoglou's concerns are valid.

Why on earth would Djokovic and Nadal not be in the 2020 U.S. Open?
They both want to play the French Open this year. It is local to them. They would not have to travel to the USA and back to Europe. And they would not have to spend time in quarantine on their return to Europe by staying home in the first place.

Same for with the Australian Open in 2021. If they come here, they have to spend at least 14 days in quarantine. They will not be able to play any warm up events here either. And there is also a possibility the local Government could close down the event at the last minute like it did with the 2020 Australian F1 Grand Prix.

You are an Aussie aren't you? Surely you understand that Australian tennis fans would be happy to see an AO full of Australian players rather than no AO at all. I would think the US Tennis fans would feel the same way, don't you think?

Wow. Is there still no solution to the self-price problem?
I thought it was solved
So there's a good chance Djokovic and Nadal won't be going to the 2020us Open
So Taylor Fritz could win the us open?

Fedr should come out of retirement to protect that slam count. If it turns into mug city he could literally win with 1 leg :-D :-D :-D

Everything one reads suggest there will be multiple vaccines available before the end of the year ... and then we'll have the anti-vaxxers!

See above as that applies to the AO. The USO is going ahead, and it will be followed with interest ... and regret.

So, the problem of self-price between Europe in the United States is stillnot solved
That's why Nadal's still practicing clay courts.
I understand perfectly
I'll explain this to you before.

No, so will you only make the 2020 us Open a real American?
Does this make sense?
Does it make sense that only 128 American players are involved?

I’m afraid without top international players, victory will be a lesser one.
I don't understand this. Tennis is an individual sport. Players can only play who they play. They have no control over who they play in any Tennis tournament.

I thought it was solved
Nope. Nothing solved yet. Players coming to the US will be severely restricted in how they can operate. European players will have to go into quarantine on return to Europe. I would be surprised if any of the top players accept this.

Nadal is newly married. His wife probably won't want him to leave Europe and be potentially exposed to contracting the virus there.

And we still don't know Djokovic's true health status at this time.

this bruce guy say this
we belive this ?
This is an ENTRY LIST.

This is not a confirmation that the players will play the tournament. It is just a confirmation that they have entered the tournament.

Nadal has withdrawn from big events AFTER THE DRAW WAS PUBLISHED !!!

The only way we will know that any player is playing the USO or the AO or any tournament, is when they walk onto the tennis court for their First Round match.

There are no special travel restrictions for European arrivals.

NY currently has a 14 day quarantine requirement for Americans entering from out of state as well as arrivals from Europe.

Spain and Italy have already assured Djoker that players returning from America will not be subject to quarantine.

Look for NY to also exempt all arriving players from quarantine.

Everything is fine. Everybody is welcome to come and play!

Why did Jaimie Murray express concern about the quarantine upon return from America just two days?
