Di Giulio was up 5-2 at 6, Brymer was up 5-3 at 4, and Giron was up 4-1 at 2. If they lose that'll be why - hell of a comeback from Virginia showing no quit
That's what college tennis is all about - too bad no one outside of those are the LA Tennis Center saw it.
Meanwhile a couple of hours drive east (well traffic can change that) a thousand or so tennis fans are spread out watching a very boring first day of a masters unaware of what they missed.
I posted about this match on another forum. Got mild interest, but most in there were too busy discussing who Dimitriv was dating
Well, ESPN3 did cover the Notre Dame - Ball State match. The important thing is that the two teams need to agree to get the match over with quickly. Quality and drama are secondary concerns.
That was a lot less dramatic than I thought it would be...
Yes, it needed to have 6 3rd set tiebreakers in singles.
Court 3 was a dud. Also court 5's 3rd set was anti-climatic. Bummer of a match.
I was going to say I as surprised that UCLA had 3 Freshman in their top 6, but the more I think about it, the more it doesn't surprise me when there are really good college freshman who make an immediate impact.
At this level, the Top of D1, the players have been playing high level tennis for a long time. It's not like college is the first time they've been exposed to amazing players. Some of the upperclassmen they're playing they probably have played as juniors.

You're tough to please--it was a good match. #1 & #2 could have easily gone the other way and changed the whole result. The play was good and the matches were hard fought. That 2 close matches happened to finish before 2 other close matches really doesn't make a difference--the match was up for grabs. If anyone is looking to justify the relevance of college tennis this would be a good match to point to. I also saw the UCLA/USC match last week--this was better...That was a lot less dramatic than I thought it would be...
No, but seriously, UCLA just came out guns ablazing and took it 4-1... Like, who cares if the last 2 matches are in the 3rd set tiebreaks. UCLA already won, people just left, there was no energy from the crowds towards the matches left at the end.

I know we all like to make fun of Feddie's video requests , but in this case serious where is the video?
I know there used to be this Asian guy who filmed a lot of UCLA tennis. Hopefully he captured some of this.
UCLA write-up says Giron and Puget talked Billy Martin into changing the doubles lineup.
