If you must, I’d say IG Prestige PRO (293.1). I am using the PT57A 16x19 last 12 months and have stocked up on them as my favorite frames. I also have 360+ prestige MP 16x19 (pro stock TGT345.2) I. My bag and use it sometimes with no issues to switch from one to the other. But nothing really replaces the plushness of the PT57A2
Wow. Prestige MP 360+ 16x19 sounds already like a dream :) Thank you for the reply guru . What was the code for the stick that was supposed to replace PT57A 16x19 on tour and offer a bit more power ? I think Soonwoo Kwon is playing with it ?

PD VS is growing on me.

So many good things about it.

Can hit ridiculous shots if you are feeling in the mood, slap volleys from a foot inside the baseline.

So much movement in the serve just leaves people swinging at thin air

PT313.2 is the 95 sq in radical mold (thin bridge), 21.5mm straight beam with the PT57A2 layup. Comes in 18x20 and 16x19 (identical drill patterns as PT57A and IGPrestige). Kwon is playing with the 16x19, Garin with 18x20.

IG Radical MP/Pro are also good alternatives. More powerful than the PT57A but great feel and sweet spot.

I love the feel of the 360+ prestige MP. Amazing layup. Next one is even better as the launch angle is little higher. That one could be a great alternative to the PT57A

yap , but its 16x19 pattern. So I guess the closest frames are Radical Pro, Prestige Pro, Yonex Vcore 97? Angell TC95/TC97, Wilson Blade 16x19? It's even hard to come up with the list but I am not an expert in prostocks. (no experience)
I mean closest in performance. Not closest as "replacement".
@dr325i ?
Closest retail frame to the PT57A 16x19 is the Wilson Ultra Pro 16x19, their retail version of their H19 Pro Stock; H19 mold is based on the PT57 with the biggest difference being the 97 headsize instead of 95. Doesn't have the same plushness as the PT57A (crisper like PT57E; feels like 63ish RA strung), but has more forgiveness.

The G360+ Prestige PRO/New Auxetic Prestige TOUR might have the closest stringbed playability since it's got the same headsize/shape/stringbed, but it'll be more powerful and crisper with its 22mm beam and 65RA; more for attacking players.

Since my last review was Prestige (360+, touch, xt, ig) I think it is a perfect time for the Angell K7 Lime!
angell-k7-lime.jpg

The launch of k7 limes were timed perfectly. Head Prestige was at lowest point. Even Wilson managed to mess up their Blades with CV (I think that was the line at that time)

When the prestige fan reads "construction – Advanced Aramid and Carbon fibre", the excitement is guaranteed. Yes, the hype was real and the customers were hungry.

K7 lime is a real deal. I showed this frame to all my friends that are using prestige and all of them liked it.

I would say it's a resurrected IG Prestige MP with a slight mods and a bit different weight distribution. Limes have slightly higher SW around 320-325. At least my models. The updated paintjob from angell now has lower SW on average.

I haven't played with a frame as close to IG prestige MP.. Ok...Dunlop CX200 Tour is another and only one left on the table. TF40 is close but with injected steroids. The feel is sublime. Amazing. Comfortable even with stiff strings. Low launch, lot of control. Due to slightly higher SW I would say you get a bit more power, stability and plow but less maneuverability.

Many TC95 18x20 users also switched to K7 lime for that tiny bit more forgiveness. I am not sure which model I prefer TC95 18x20 or K7 Lime. They both have different pros and cons but they are both for similar kind of players.

So what could be improved ?

ok, so for me the weight distribution was not exactly my cup of tea. Now limes have unstrung SW of 284 and I think they will be better with still some room for customization. Limes could have slightly thinner beam closer to nowadays Prestige 360+ or Angell TC95. I just love to hold them in the hand. The power lvl would decrease but I actually see it as an improvement provided the stability is untouched.

My ex coach was serving bombs with it. For him it was a direct switch from Youtek Prestige MID (93", heavy beast) and he never looked back. HOWEVER later he switched to touch prestige and 360+ mp because of that feeling under hand of a thinner beam. It's addictive.

I think Limes are in a tricky place now because the market of sticks improved. You have Prestige 360+ MP, Yonex Vcore HD/D, Gravity and Blade v7... all great rackets with modern twist. K7 lime is more for oldschool guys that are still rocking their IG prestiges but the slightly thicker beam might scare them away. I am not even sure if it's indeed thicker or just the shape make it feel that way... Or maybe it's good to have that option on the market. More traditional.

I think that maybe Tecnifibre TF40 and Dunlop CX200 Tour are the closest sticks to K7 Lime from the current market.
Lower powered than Tecnifibre TF40, more than Dunlop. Feel and the performance are very similar between them.

I give it a 7.0 rating. Would prefer a bit different weight distribution (higher static weight, lower SW) and thinner beam (maybe because after weight distribution changed i might like it as it is)
cheers !

I also wished the k7 Lime had a slightly thinner beam and foam filled like my TC95. However the K7 Lime is definitely more forgiving than the TC95. Just too light in stock condition.

It is a special frame. I was pleasantly surprised when I tested it out. Wasn't expecting to like it at all, but after one hit, I ordered the black version. The only area that I have some difficulty with is the serve, but I'm working on it.

This is exactly my experience as well. Demoed a ton of racquets and the 360+ Speed Pro is something special... except for the serve. I am still figuring that part out but it plays so well everywhere else that it's worth the tradeoff.

Well, that is a tough one as there are so many great rackets too choose from,...

Last few years I only focused on foam filled frames because of that addictive solid with a comfortable (<64RA) flex but still connected feel.

The following frames would be on my top 4 list (that are customized to (roughly) 346 grams 32cm balance and about 330 SW) :
  • Diadem Elevate FS 64RA (current)
    • Same comfortable flex and solid feel like the TC95 and most forgiving sweetspot of these 4 ones. A little less maneuverable frame due to the slightly thicker beam (21,5 vs 20 mm) than the Angells. However this gives the Diadem EFS a little bit more sturdy feel that is especially noticeable with volleys and serves.
  • Angell TC95 16x19 63RA
    • No announcement needed as we both know how great this one is. :)
    • I almost pulled the trigger to order a few of these ones, but after I demoed the Diadem Elevates I changed my mind and I decided to buy two Elevates as it was easily available within my country and a lot cheaper as well.
  • Wilson Ultra Tour 63RA
    • Great touch/feel. I even love the feel of this one more than the TC95 18x20. Similar frame like the TC95 18x20 with a slightly more forgiving headsize (97 vs 95).
  • Angell TC95 18x20 63RA
    • My favourite Angell for years (untill I tried the 16x19 version).

I think the TF40 315 is also very interesting as it is pretty much within my desired specs. I only dislike the rectangular grip shape.
The Head Prestige MP 360+ is also very much within my specs. I really like all those changes (TK82S grip pallets, thinner (20mm) beam and bigger (real 98sq inch) headsize. They are only not foam filled. :(

i just noticed your signature hahaha. Was it made before or after my question ? xD

I had no issues with Tecnifibre's handle shape. I liked more RS305 (modified to 320g/310mm +/-) than TF40. 18x19 is very interesting and RS is foam filled while TF40 I think is not.
How would you compare the launch angle of Diadems? They are 16x20 but mains seem to be pretty open just like Angells or Vcore95.

Pretty much the same launch angle as the Angell TC95 16x19. Maybe slightly lower (because of the 20 crosses) but hardly noticeable.

Very interesting…how about power lvl? What strings are you using in it?
In stock condition the EFS feels too anemic to me but after I customized it to similar specs as my TC95 16m (346 grams - 32cm balance and about 330SW) and strung with Tecnifibre Triax 1.28 at 25 kg they have similar a power level.

However the customizing process of my Diadem EFS took quite a bit of effort.

I just wanted to lower the balance a bit and increase the original swingweight of 320 to about 330SW.

In order to lower the balance I thought a leather grip would do that enough. However I was (unpleasantly) surprised that the original Diadem Vintage PU/leather hybrid grip weighed the same as a full leather grip. That's why I screwed a few screws into the foam under the trapdoor (about 10 grams in total) and I put 4 grams of lead at 10 and 2.

Lately I matched my second one to this setup and now they both feel identical. Blindfolded I wouldn't able to notice any difference but the grip thickness (as I only used my first one until then).

I also guess I am able to switch easily to my TC95 16m during a match.

On a separate note - I just played with the Prince Phantom 97p and really liked it. Pretty unusual racquet. Hits that balance of being super maneuverable for topspin (due to the thin beam and open-ish string pattern) while still being stable and good at flattening the ball.

Recommend it for a player who likes old school racquets and is looking for something which is true to that but adds a bit more spin friendliness.

Try the Pure Strike Tour - heavier, more stable, more headlight and more comfortable than the 16x19 while being equally maneuverable. It has a big sweet spot for a thin beam racquet weighing 12 ozs. Tame its power with poly or a gut/poly hybrid and it is a sweet stick that also is good for serving bombs.

Pure Strike Tour is underrated imo. Maybe the best modern player frame for actual match play.

I'm perplexed as to only reviewing two Wilson frames and both blades. RF97 anyone? Possibly the finest racquet Wilson has ever made.

true, Pro Staff deserves to be on the list. I used to play with Pro Staff family. Very good sticks. They went off my radar since the price is huge, QC is bad and the blades seem to be more popular and comfortable. Overall they just look like better frames in general.

Regarding Clashes I have access to Clash (98 I think). I heard they are very comfortable and interesting to play for perhaps doubles but not really a single's racquet. However I know two very competitive players with Clash frames.

so I guess I will have to try first with 1.30 strings as well 8-B . Any chances you tried their flagship strings with flagship rackets? Always sounds wise to use the same brand. They obviously had to develop racket around their strings and later maybe try different setups that are popular on the market. Solstice power always been in my head.

I only hit with Flash 1.20 a very comfortable soft copolyester string. Nice touch with still good control.

Indeed I guess a 1.30 string will suit this pretty open string pattern as well.

However I prefer multi strings for more feel/touch but I dislike it they tend to move a lot. That's why I had it strung with Tecnifibre Triax (and in order to be able to compare better with my TC95 16m as well). Just at a higher tension (25 and 26 kg) as it is quite a bit more powerful than a full poly string bed.

ANOTHER REVIEW !!!
Tecnifibre T-Rebound 298 Iga
Iga-Swiatek-x-Hepta-Power.jpg
iga-x-razor-code.jpg

It's exactly what I wanted to get from Head Speed MP 360+. The weight distribution and feel is closer and more familiar to my preferences. Speed MP felt a bit bulky and was hurting my wrist. T-Rebound IGA is like a more "focused" (98" instead of 100") speed mp with similar power and spin potential.

Some also compared it to Blade 16x19 but IGA is more powerful. MAYBE even slightly more power than speed? Closer to something like Pure drive? It can be compared all over the place because with 98" headsize you kinda get that modern performance similar to Blade line. From layup you get the power closer to frames like Speed MP, Extreme MP or Pure Drives but the FOAM inside the frame is making it feel closer to hmm.... Angell or from recent frames Vcore line also felt kinda similar.

So I see the design/idea behind the racket just like I am looking at the Yonex Ezone 98. Cross between power frames (pure drive power and spin) and classic BUT with modern twist frames (Blade or Radical) everything under easy, player friendly, very manageable specs without any sacrifices :)

Feel- it's very soft and comfortable due to FOAM (probably my favourite "technology")
what to expect from foam filled sticks ? Comfort and solidness with still lot of connection and feedback. "wow factor" was there with all foam filled sticks I tried (all custom Angells , Tecnifibre TFight RS305 , Donnay from the past i don't remember the model now)

Response - I tried IGA with 2 different setups - Tecnifibre Razor Code 1.25 at 24kg and Mayami Hepta Power at 24kg. I would say it's quite fast and powerful, more suitable to modern players or those who look for extra help from the racket. I have very traditional strokes so I appreciated higher spin potential from the shaped string - I heard it's very similar to Tecnifibre Black Code that tennisnerd had in his IGA demo and liked a lot as well (more than Radical 360+ for example) .

The frame is very stable and forgiving. Compared to Head Speed MP I see pretty much no drawback from making the headsize smaller. In fact, only positives. It's also faster (lower SW) with less plow but the foam inside make it feel solid on contact.

Who is it for?

Head Speed MP users - if you find it too bulky
Yonex Ezone 98 users - if you want more forgiveness and easier performance
Head Extreme MP users - haven't played with it but I know many women are getting this. I think IGA is better because of slightly more HL setup. (32cm)
Babolat Pure Drive users -if it's too stiff and has slightly too much power
Head Radical MP users - if you want more power and forgiveness/stability/maneuverability
Wilson Blade users- if it's too demanding for you

I am keeping it for my wife <3

I am giving a 7.0 rating for the overall design and execution of the idea ("who is it for"). I am playing with a much more control oriented and heavier frames BUT for players that are looking for easy performance and comfort I can't find better racquet right now...especially if we want to focus on women and EVEN better if they are not yet on highly advanced level but have the aspirations of getting there. Or maybe they are alredy advanced and have aggresive playstyle just like IGA SWIATEK :)

good job Tecnifibre.

btw I was looking around for cheap box of balls and it was time to replace Wilson Tour Premier All Courts (i am trying to boycott Wilson for their quality control issues)...
So far happy with the switch. Any other recommendations ? I also like Robin Soderling...balls xDDD

I'd love to hear about your thoughts on the TF40 315. This racket seems to have been overlooked and not a lot of info is available about this frame online.
Yeah, but because they locked the line to 18x20 pattern... I read that they are bringing more options. Hopefully soon, TF40 16x19 and 18x19 was requested 3yrs ago !!!

That's a step in the right direction. I suppose that they are planning to have something for every player type.
I do wish that they make the buttcaps removable this time :)

What am I using and why?
This is an excellent question. I am a 3.5-4.0 male player. I am a counterpuncher/pusher. I hit mostly topspin on both wings. My FH is my best shot. I mostly use kick or slice serve hybrids to start points.

I value control and placement in the racquets I choose. I generate average power, but find extra power in a frame to be too cumbersome.

Currently, I play with the Prince Phantom 100p and a customized first edition Diadem Elevate 98. I love the feedback that both frames provide. The Elevate is slightly muted and very comfortable. I placed 6 grams of putty in the handle and 2 grams of leadtape at 3 and 9 position. I added a leather grip and overgrip. Final specs are 32 cm balance and 339 grams.

The Phantom is more forgiving than the elevate. I switched to the phantom from 3 1980's POGs. The POG was awesome, but I was too tired after 2 sets with that frame. The phantom was above spec at 314 grams unstrung. I added a leather grip and overgrip for a final weight of 338 grams. I got another phantom 100p at 313.8 grams. I was very happy with those numbers.

Thank you for the fun post!

Thanks for sharing. Also great choice. Now we are living in a very competitive market with really great frames. I think in 3-6 years we will see some new pro faces that grew up with the frames from my list :p

I agree the market has produced some awesome frames in the past 5-10 years. New pros will definately be heading towards the frames on your list. I have tried the Graphene touch Prestige Mid and I loved the feeling. I am not good enough to use it longterm. The 360+ Prestiges were really nice in my demo sessions of thr Pro and MP.

Make up your mind ... you could have 12 points HL and a SW360 and you will be crying.
:-D:-D:-D:-D The swingweight should be at least as much as the current swingweight and no more than the RS 305's swingweight.
The 305 should be at least 4pts HL with a removable butt cap.

   I do not know if it is achievable... and they have to implement Quality Control (QC) above all to guarantee that.
I have been advocating more QC and less marketing... ala Yonex.

another random picture to create hype.
2015/2017 period. Back then those were probably the best racquets around. So called "Graphene era" . Those were probably my last sticks pre-Angell era and Angell is the introduction to golden era of racquets. Did he (Paul Angell) change the game?

Yonex probably was the biggest winner in this era (marketing-wise) since many frustrated users migrated from blades and prestige/radicals towards those more forgiving and flexy racquets.

Also... Andy Gerst the ultimate playtester :)

agree?
those-were-the-days.jpg
Another VERY powerful reason is Yonex Quality Control, which allows players to get the same frames specifications when buying at different times.
Marketing can only fool somebody but NOT everybody. Cudos for Yonex, well deserved.
