Diadem Pro X 1.25 REVIEW
It's a 6-sided string designed to be most powerful and firm option in Diadem line (according to what we can read on Diadem Europe)
I've tried only Solstice Power besides this one so I can only confirm that indeed it's slightly firmer and maybe has a bit more power but still very much in the "control" category.
Basicly if we want to compare it to something else we would have to look at strings like Luxilon Alu Power, Solinco Confidential, maybe Head Lynx Tour, Solinco Tour Bite...
Great group of strings so the bar is set really high. Did this string offer something more or better?
Compared to Solinco Confidential and Luxilon Alu Power I can say that Diadem Pro X holds tension much better. They are not even close. Lynx Tour is still standing strong here as well.
Comfort is pretty much on the same level of Luxilon Alu Power. So even though we can read that it's a stiffest string from Diadem it didn't really bother me. In fact, it's probably slightly softer in feel than Head Lynx Tour and definitely softer than Tour Bite while keeping the control on similar level... Solinco Confidential is the most comfortable string in this lineup.
Most important factor - performance:
So this string didn't really suprise me. Most likely I've strung it too tight (24kg/24kg) so my guess is that it likes lower tensions. That should unlock the performance and let the string work more freely. 22kg perhaps.
It feels like a strong alternative to Luxilon Alu Power if you are looking for a more control oriented response but slightly lower spin potential. But again with lower tension you could probably get more comfort, spin and get into Alu Power zone of performance without the cons of Alu (tension stability)
The 6-sided shape acted just like I expect from every 6-sided string. It offers slightly better grab than a round string with still the control and response of a round profile. It's one of my favourites shape. It's not aggresive in any way. It's like an improved round string (there are exceptions of course). I liked serving with Pro X and touch shots were also great.

Is there really many people that feels the luxilon big banger original harsh on the arm? I can’t understand.. for me it is the most comfortable buttery feel poly that I ever used, it pocket the ball on the string bed like no other, very likely a poly / gut hybrid, power, spin, comfort, absolutely amazing for touch shots... it’s crazy, on TW string compare tool it appears as one of the stiff strings rating...
I’m am considering even to experiment the lux bbo on my new racquet: 330gr 95sq 18x20... a little bit reluctant just because the 1.30mm gauge, but will give it a chance and see how it plays...

havent tried it in 18x20 patterns. I would drop the tension by 1kg or 2 kg. It's great string I agree. One of my fav !

I bought a reel of Alu Rough, so I am "stuck" with it.
I have been testing different multifilament crosses though.
However, when I say "testing", I am taking months in between. (hitting* 2-3 times per week).

Yes, the only meaningful tests will be to have identical (or nearly identical) racquets, string them with different strings, and hit them interchangeably.
Otherwise you end with reviews like this: I've tried string X... It was wonderful and powerful and soft. ... I forgot to mention it was a cross, with mains being Natural gut.
The numbers from RSI, TW and Stringforum have been much more accurate for me for predicting the true behavior of strings than online reviews.

I sort of do the same thing to test strings and string combos. I usually have two or three racquets of each frame I am using. String them up with strings or string combos I want to try. I place them behind me along the fence. I have a ball machine I use. I normally hit about the same with each string combo, 40-50 balls initially. I do not look at the racquet except to place it back along the fence as a " like" or " do not like". I can take up to 6-8 racquets with me at a time at some times. Very similar ways we try out strings/racquet combos.
@galapagos When I bought the Regna I had the surprise to have a free set of Alu but 1.38...what would you do with that ? Hybrid ? Or it's just too thick ? Also, have you tried Polytour Rev ? Lots of mixed reviews about it. My partner loves it but when I tried his racquets (the new vcore pro and the two previous versions) I was very happy to take my racquet back. I dont know if it's the string or the racquets. The Regna has such a great balance of control/power/feel and I'm looking for a string setup that has the same balance.

holding tension means longer playability. Alu Power is known for it's short playability time. But the first "window" is hard to beat
Over time alu looses some feel and gains in power, slightly less snapback as well. The response is less spinny. If you play it through this window I found that later it looses some of the power and get more spin (most will find this string dead by now I think)with Diadem Pro X the first window is very long, similar to Head Lynx Tour.
and confidential is very similar to alu power with more initial control (less power) but the drop is even more noticeable.

i don't know, above discussing pretty much only the playability duration. Performance out of the box I would rate probably something like Alu Power>Confidential>Lynx Tour>Pro X.
was your tour hex/hit pro combo 1.23/1.25? If so, I’ve found thinner crosses to work better in providing a softer more elastic feeling string bed. I like tour hex 1.23 hybrid with sppp 1.18 or polaris 1.20 cross

Yes. I think the hit pro cross was plenty elastic it just was kind of a shock coming from the seemingly higher power of natural gut hybrids
Im really playing great tennis with tour hex/hit pro. Time to try big spin/hit pro!
I tried Big Spin + Hit Pro last spring and liked it. It was quite powerful (strung at 23/23 kg in a Pure Aero). I am currently using Big Spin + Gamma IO (blue) and this combo is really great (I lowered the tension from 23/22 to 22/21 because it's winter and I always play outdoor). I also like Big Spin fb, but the IO crosses add some (directional) control and precision to the string bed. This is helpful if you go for the lines or want to hit precise passing shots. It's also easier to flatten out the ball trajectory on angle shots, so that the opponent has less time to react.
Oh that sounds really good. I'll give it a try. Seems I can only find yellow in 17 gauge in China. I also wanna try Topspin Cyberflash fb or crosses

I got used to the different characteristics of tour hex/hit pro (vs different natural gut and poly hybrids) and it’s fine. Just a little more control than gut hybrids. The strings also could’ve settled in a bit too but they’re a good combo. No complaints really.

BEST Control:
Tourna Silver 7 Tour is the definition of control. Great spin, great durability. Might be too stiff for some, sweet spot is definitely a bit smaller but everything else is just top notch!
Luxilon Original - my favourite round profiled string, good spin potential for a round string but definitely lower than I can get out of some shaped strings. I still haven't figured out what tension is the best but I liked that string loose.
Almost BEST Control BUT more forgiving and comfortable:
I know, might sound silly. Group of "almost" but the added comfort and forgiveness was the highlight of those control oriented strings. Better feel,not boardy. With that strings I am not worried about my elbow or shoulder yet I still get enough control.
Mayami Tour Hex - great pocketing and control. Very good on my serves. Comfortable and spin friendly. My favourite 6-sided string for sure! All Head Lynx Tour fans should give it a try. I prefer lower launch angle on my backhand so actually might switch a racquet just for that string.
Solinco Confidential - serious alternative to Tourna Silver 7 Tour or Luxilon Alu Power. Amazing string but looses tension maybe even faster than the legendary Alu Power.
Diadem Solstice Power - probably biggest spin potential in this group but something was missing on my serves. happy to see Diadem available in Europe. Been waiting 1 year for that
Touch, feel and response paired with control:
Signum Pro Firestorm - I promise you will hear more about this string definition of touch and response.
Luxilon Alu Power - this one offers even better response but its much more expensive. Stiffer as well.
Tecnifibre Razor Code - another serious alternative to Luxilon Alu Power but with more control. It's a bit picky when it comes to racquet combination. Great in Tecnifibre RS305 and Iga racquets. Not so great in Angell. So I would pair it with a tighter 16x19 patterns or 18x19/18x20/16x20.
Mayami Hit Pro - this one to me is a mix between Luxilon Alu Power and Luxilon Original. Great price and value. I love it on hard courts, not so much on clay. I wish it offered a bit more spin. Connection with the ball is amazing. More control than with Firestorm.

I play the Tourna in the pure aero and don’t find it stiff or to have a small sweet spot. But it’s the 1.25! I know you preferred the 1.30. I would say Confidential 1.25 felt a bit stiffer and smaller sweet spot. I have a reel here I should test. I still have a firestorm pack to try out but again it’s the 1.25.

I know you like 1.30 but try Grapplesnake Tour Sniper. One of the best playability duration and control strings I’ve used.

I think I would first have to try Tourna Silver, Weiss Cannon Silverstring and RS Lyon before going to that one. This group of string is so huge that it deserves a seperate thread lol
but from what I've read everyone kinda come back to alu power at some point when it comes to real comparison.

I think I would first have to try Tourna Silver, Weiss Cannon Silverstring and RS Lyon before going to that one. This group of string is so huge that it deserves a seperate thread lol
Yes they are absolutely good strings, tried them all. Alu is special, but so is CF. Luckely I prefer CF to Alu as it is a fraction of the price at €52 for a reel. I would suggest to try CF first and then compare the others to CF. No kidding I would like for you to try out CF. PM me and I will send you a set of CF 1.25 and 1.30

I’ve never played with Firestorm. Element plays like a softer ALU but with better playability duration.

4G is awful. Extremely dead and stiff. Nothing special in terms of spin or pop. The feel is horrid. It’s only redeeming quality is tension maintenance. But it’s known to kill elbows.

I mean that’s kind of the selling point isn’t it? It’s high stiffness is the main reason why it’s the king of polyesters in regards to tension maintenance… Expecting pop and huge spin generation from a round, super stiff string seems a bit asinine to me. I will say that I find spin generation to be perfectly fine for the first eight or so hours of its life - it doesn’t offer any “free” or “manufactured” spin, but when I really focused on brushing up on the ball and not being lazy getting to my semi western FH grip, I thought it was just as good generating spin as Firestorm for example. Feel is obviously quite subjective, but I actually like playing touch shots with 4G for the first hour or two. It’s hard to describe, it of course isn’t soft and the ball doesn’t dwell due to the stiffness, but for some reason I am so confident coming to net and playing drop volleys early in the 4G lifespan. Another thing I like about it is that slices feel awesome to me when the string has completely opened up in the last few hours of the lifespan. Overall I don’t go back to 4G because I need something to give me a more free pace on my serves, but I would definitely disagree with simply dismissing it as utter trash.

I sure did like it in a Prince Phantom 97, it felt like butter at net.
I've been playing around with the idea of trying a 1.30 gut-firestorm hybrid (gut mains) in a very open 16x19 frame. Dare I say that I think that could potentially be the ultimate string of choice??

You’re reading into my post too much. You naturally have to review a string on spin and power. It’s two of main categories. I also commented on feel and playability duration. Yes we agree it’s a control string.
But there’s better options like Tour Sniper from Grapplesnake.

Right, but you also to consider context. A lot of players don't want or need power from a string and actively seek out something low powered. A lot of player don't need their string to give them extra spin because they can make their own or maybe they have a flatter playstyle. Therefore, maybe 4G isn't so much a bad string as it is a niche string?

Any stiff poly will **** you up if you have bad technique. There's also no proof that 4G is why Tsitsipas has a bum elbow but I agree it's not a good look for Luxilon. That's all I'll say as we are derailing this thread

You're probably stringing it way too tight its already super tight and immobile at 50 lbs tension cause its off the charts stiff. There's someone here who thinks its magical around 40-44 and I agree back when I tried it low 40s got ridiculous spin bouncing the ball up high on kick serves effortlessly, great power pop and spin with a lot of control. Could be my favorite string. There are so many great ones though.

I’ve strung it as low as 40LBS and still didn’t work for me. There is never a unanimous consensus on these things, which is fine.
