Ultimate string of choice !

Gotcha just a matter of taste and style then or maybe even what racquet you use. Most 4G reviews are very positive but gotta be careful with that string
Original is also quite tricky with comfort i would say. I guess i will try it at some point. But I think IF there are fans of 4g then only of 1.25 gauge ? Have someone tried 1.30 version ?

There are lots of fans of 4G the customer reviews generally think its amazing. I'm sure 1.30 is fine just string on the low side I have no issues with 1.25 it even feels comfortable on impact to me. Soft enough easily it doesn't feel harsh at all. Also 4G rough is designed to be less stiff and theres a 4G soft

Hello guys , I am new but have been watching the whole thread. I use the 2021 pure drive stock model with an overgrip. i mostly string my racquet at 54-58lbs. I have no issues with the racquet but i wanted a perfect string setup for my racquet. I am 18 and play juniors and u18. I have no arm issues because of the racquet or the tension. Can anyone of you suggest me a poly string (fullbed or poly-poly hybrid) for my pure drive. I mostly play from the base line and need some control out of the strings (possibly even spin and power).

Grapplesnake tour m8 is probably a great choice. Might wanna string on low side tennisnerd said its a stiff string playing best at low tensions for him

strung triax/pt air hybrid @g4driver recommended in my v7 blade at 43/37 lbs and it still felt a bit stiff for me…maybe my arm is just too fragile but initial thoughts on triax: feels a bit stiffer than soft copolys

my first hybrid in my life was yesterday with mayami tour hex 1.23 / hit pro 1.30. It was actually very nice! But not sure if better than full bed setup. I need to try it for a bit longer

Coolyou should get a pack of tour Bite / vanquish and test 52/54 or what you like just keep vanquish in crosses 2-3lbs higher

You inspired me to order a set and try it. Don't know what racquet to try it in though. Any thoughts on what kind of racquets fit this string from your experiences?
Use it in your favorite racket so it’s a controlled test. If you use it on something you don’t play with often you won’t get an accurate reading on whether you liked the string.

What @CiscoPC600 said :) there were some players that used it in control oriented frames but i think most popular setups were with 16x19 patterns. I would definitely string it a bit lower in 18x20 frames. For reference in prestige mp 18x20 if i really wanted to try it i would string it probably around 20kg :p in blade 18x20 no higher than 22kg. I dont know how other people like to string original but me personaly i like when this string is breathing, moving. Its a control-freak string :)

its a bit like luxilon Alu power with better tension maintenance, less springy and similar legacy lol

Ha! Great I look forward to hear your thoughts

I mainly use head radicals oversized

Maybe try gravity tour or pro?

Berrettini no longer has a Signum Pro stencil on his strings. I wonder if he’s moved from Firestorm to something from Head?

I saw that too. Sounds like drama :p also possible that head didnt allow him to use any other stencil on head frame. But I doubt it. Well i could see him switching to lynx tour or hawk touch but at the same time why would he? Money speeks ? :)

I definitely agree on trying strings in your favorite racket. The thing is, I'm a racketaholic so I tend to overthink things. Anyway, I'll try in in my VC95, VCP97 or UP16.

Have used Luxilon Adrenaline for about the last year. I love how predictable it is and it maintains playability for me until it breaks. I only tend to use stiff/crisp polys.
Are there any upgrades to this, maybe with bit more spin but with the predictable response? Signum Pro Firestorm sounds like a good shout?

Everything you say points towards Tourna Big Hitter Silver 7 Tour.

What this guy said :) firestorm is kinda opposite to adrenaline. Much more softer, longer dwell time. Adrenaline didnt wow me compared to luxilon original or Alu power. And i am a huge Rublev fan so I thought maybe marketing will create placebo effect. Tourna silver 7 tour is AMAZING for control , spin , durability but has smaller sweet spot and is really stiff. 1.30 gauge for sure. 1.25 is definitely softer with bigger sweet spot but not that same level of control.

@mozzer if you like crisp strings, then i’d definitely look for a silver string, not bronze like firestorm which would be softer. Many good options to choose for but now it depends on personal preference…for round strings, max power, silverstring, cyberflash, dunlop explosive would be good candidates while solid shaped options would be tour bite, silver 7 tour, confidential, tour status. Each string offers varying levels of power, spin, comfort, playability duration so it’s about finding the right balance of what you’d enjoy.

Yes Alu Power for me was the ideal string, but the price to playability ratio was never worth it.
Will give the Tourna a go! Thanks everyone.

I like big spin/tour hex and tour hex/hit pro much better. Very disappointed with the spin while big spin/tour hex was amazing for spin. Im gonna go back to big spin/tour hex today.
Glad you like tour hex/hit pro cause I might have played my best tennis with it.

You guys doing a hybrid poly/poly?
What tensions and why?
'Cause I've ordered all the Mayami strings myself.

Finally what do you mean " you liked the first 2, but disappointed with the spin"?

How’s big spin x hit pro?

After an adjustment period I’m loving tour hex x hit pro

Since I really liked big spin/tour hex and tour hex/hit pro, I thought big spin/hit pro might be even better, but no. It's nothing special. Not a bad setup at all though. It's just that the other 2 are so good.
I started at 48/45 with almost all my setups. Went down to 45/43 with big spin/hit pro. Today Im gonna try big spin/tour hex 42/40 cause I had so much control + monster spin and I like low tension (and I think my Regna also like low tension).
My partner told me big spin/tour hex was the most difficult for him to handle, followed by tour hex/hit pro cause spin is still very good and more powerful, while big spin/hit pro is nothin special again.

I shall try it as well thanks.
Right now I am doing gut/poly at 55/50- I'll muster the courage to try at least once poly/poly at your tensions.
What level are you, what grip and what BH are you using btw?
Mid thirties I presume?

Just be careful swinging at low tensions or your balls might fly off to Jupiter!

Haha jk you'll be fine.

I thought you meant my biological balls lol
lmao

I dont know how to tell about my level but Im 34 and I've been playing since Im 12, so Im not bad haha.
2 handed BH (my fav and best shot).
Tour hex/hit pro 48/45 was great for me. I was hitting so many balls on the line or close to the line without having any doubt that they would be in, I felt so confident. Big spin/tour hex gave me more control and I liked it even more after the tension dropped. I think tour hex offers great control and feel. I can hit really big with all the mayami setups I tried.
Hyper G soft was my go to string before, great performance IMO but bad feeling and sound at impact. With mayami I put my dampener lower so it doesnt touch the cross string, I feel so connected to my rackuet and stringbed in this way.

So your favourite is Big spin/tour hex?
You using an E grip?
And around 4.5?
Thanks.

I played with big spin/tour hex tonight and yes its a great setup. In my opinion, tour hex is much better than hit pro as a cross, for this setup at least. The feel is so great. It's smooth as butter. Im new to hybrids and I think it's very interesting. Im more western/semi-western. Spinny forehand, flat backhand. Agresseive baseliner + great defense. My level I dont know tbh. 4.0 I guess.

Thanks everyone!

I've ordered reels of Big Spin, Tour Hex and Hit Pro (they told me that they might last a long time, even 1 year, after opened), plus some individual 12m packages (including Hepta Power and Magic Twist) to try them all in hybrids (and also with Natural gut in mains as I have now), since they had a 30% coupon for today: Wintersale30%

Enjoy!

I am currently testing tour hex 1.23 / hit pro 1.30 hybrid in my angell tc95. Very interesting setup ! There are so many options with Mayami strings... very cool to mix them with each other.
@Venusmen how would you describe main differences between fullbed big spin vs big spin/tour hex hybrid? I think my goal would be to add a bit more power but also make the launch more linear with same spin potential. Ideally with great response and touch on volleys :)
