Unfairity for Djokovic by US is biased against him.

That is unfairy of you to discrespect the poster. He is struggling with the dilemma of it, which is very distracting.
I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

Why skip a press conference and give $20,000 to the same entity that disqualified you from the US Open? A stupid move if you ask me. If you want to throw $20,000 away give it to a deserving charity.

Sorry man, the rules were clear:

Umpires & Linespeople = DQ
Ballkids and cameramen = Fair game

This is true for sure! Remember Feder hit ballkid in head but no disquafication for him. Ballkid and camerman must be lower social class in many countries, like poor people in my country. Maybe light beating is allowed, then.

Bedene got lucky and didn't injure the cameraman so a warning was considered appropriate in his case. Djokovic (after several previous incidents in his career) did not get so lucky this time and so the rule had to be applied. If it hadn't been, the rule would have been brought into disrepute.

Maybe camerman very tough as he big man and fat. Not fall over like strange lady Novak hit. But maybe he wake up next day with sore arm and cant camera. If angry player hit ball very hard in anger and smack linesman in face, but not hurt because he is worlds toughest man, does player not get disquafilication because tough man not hurt?!

Much unfairity in this.

For people comparing this to Federer hitting ballboy - ok I get it you are obsessive Novak fans but please have at least 1% rationality in what you say. To be precise Novak or Nadal hit ballkids in the past as well as Federer and they were all not disqualified. But during the game which means it was not intenional. But Noavk did it after the game ended so in fact nobody could qualify this as non intended thing. He lost the game already and hit the ball during the break which he should not have. This has nothing to do with hitting anyone during play. Almost each player hits return of fault serve or hits the ball to the net for ballbays to get the ball. So it is sth really really different than hitting the ball after lost game because you are frustrated that you are losing to Carreno Busta.

It was really unlucky to hit her straight into the throat, but Novak has only himself to blame. As soon I saw it I knew he was going to be disqualified. Same would happen to Roger or Rafa in the same situation. They had to default him for several reasons. If they wouldn't Serena would be the first in line pointing out about sexism; how men players are treated differently and that she would be defaulted if same happened to her. Lower ranked players would think (perhaps even say) that rules are different for top players. I am sure he will learn from the incident and come back even stronger.

Novak fans need to ask themselves if this had happened to Kyrgios would they still think he shouldn't be disqualified and that he was "unfairly"treated.

There is only one person to blame and that is Novak. The fact that this cost him a slam means nothing to the rule.
It's irrelevant that it had no intent, all the similar cases in the past (Shapo, Henman, Nalbandian) had no intent, it still has to be punished and not encouraged.
The funny thing is that this was the result of his frustration of losing 2 setpoints, getting broken and injured which again he did it to himself.
Around 10 min before the incident he smashed the ball to the side of the court which could have easily hit the line judges, umpire, or people on the seats.

Let's not act like it was completely unlucky, he made his own bed, you can't simply pass the ball with your racket at head level without even looking to the back of the court where there are 2 line judges and 2 ball kids and pray that it won't anyone. There's a reason why players drop the balls or when frustrated smash the balls into the sky.

Now he has learnt this the hard way, like he said hopefully he will "overcome and grow from this as a player and as a person".

It's not just America that dislikes Djokovic. Have you seen the crowds at Wimbledon, who uniformly detest him? How about Rome, Madrid, even Monte Carlo, where he lives? He's an unpopular #1, get over it. And his popularity isn't going to be going anywhere but down after this disastrous summer for him. I have no understanding of why most of his fans are so desperate for him to be loved like Fed. It's not happening, so move on.

Exactly, the fact that he has enough dumb people from his country that worship him like a god should be more than a little consolation.

It sticks in people's minds.
But let's not pretend Novak Djokovich was thrown out of the US Open due to virulent anti Serbian bias.

It's because he acted like an angry child and smashed a tennis ball off a lines lady's throat while in close proximity to her.
That's unforgivable. Ask Denis Shapovalov. https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_...s-undergoes-surgery-denis-shapovalov-eye-shot
No anti Canadian bias there. Just enforcing sensible rules.

'Unfairity' is too strong a word to describe what happened with Djokovic at the US Open. Unfairity is when you persecute someone (often an innocent) without a fair trial.

1. It was clearly an accident that it hit her, Novak did not intended that, you could tell from Novak's reaction when he turned around and saw what had happened/was happening he immediately was horrified and felt terrible. He ran right over to make sure she was ok and checked on her.

2. Number 1 being the case, he still lost his temper and should be very thankful the woman was not injured more seriously than it was. Players need to better control their tempers. I understand right now with Covid and everything the world has been through this year that its easier said than done. However that doesn't mean people should get free passes. Accident or not it could have potentially caused a much more serious injury, is that what in some minds would have justified a disqualification?

End of the day rules are rules. Players have been having worse outbursts for years on both tours and in a lot of cases people tend to either make excuses or blow it out of proportion depending upon who it is and if you like/dislike them. Novak is not a bad guy, clearly he did not wish to cause her harm intentionally and clearly he feels horrible that it happened. But at the end of the day it happened and we cannot just ignore it and act like him losing his temper and doing something that could have caused a serious injury is ok. The tour should use this as a learning experience and move on.

Sadly some people will turn Novak into a monster (which he isn't) or completely vilify the tour (because how dare anyone be punished for getting angry...we need to validate feelings...blah blah).

Hopefully the woman is ok, hopefully Novak takes solace in the fact that it was in no way intentional and he knows he didn't do it on purpose, and everyone else just needs to process and move on.

The lines woman incident should forever end people awarding slams to players before they lift the trophy. Even though Djoker was prohibitively favored to win #18, an upset was always possible. 2009 USO is a perfect example of that.

Why they pick on Novak? I dont know and i struggle with moral dilemma of it.

Last week i see Ajax Bedene at Cinicinatti hit ball straight at camera man with some much anger when facing him. Camera guy is not dead and feels okay. Does not need to go off to bathroom and call solicitor so Bedene just get code violation and keep playing.

Novak not looking and hit ball backwards to ballkids. Ball hits lineslady who falls down with much blood. Not. Umpire says she went off for bathroom break so must be default. Why? If linesman was man and did not collapse and need bathroom break, then Novak just get violation?!

This is very not fair, and shows we must have tough men as linespeople rather than ladies who collapse, for we do not need unfair defaults.

I don't know why you have US in the title, but the tournament referee does not seem to be an American.

is the line judge in peril as a result of the incident? I’ve not seen anything at all and assumed that like 99.99999% of people who are hit with a tennis ball, she was fine.

The decision has to be made in real time, people don't get that. You don't wait for a medical test. If a person is hit and falls down, you need to assume they are injured. No room for judgement here within the next 5 minutes.

But that is why a player needs to be careful about hitting an out of play ball or smashing a racquet. Some people are more vulnerable than others and some may end up getting hurt. That is why lassitude was permitted in the cases of Bedene and Djokovic too following several past incidents because no-one actually got hurt. Sunday was different because someone did get hurt so the organisers could no longer exercise flexibility. After all, it's not as if Djokovic hasn't had enough warnings in the past about this sort of thing.

Novak is a big baby and whiner and has been his entire career. Bottom line is he broke the rules and got what he deserved. Personally I find him to be very cocky and arrogant as well as coming off as a jerk. I don't find his game to be good and hope the fans and media keep kicking him while he's down.

To be brutally honest, east Europeans are well liked everywhere, it’s the Serbs that are disliked, and not only in the US. I have no idea why...

very ugly stuff

On the flip side, the US is not even that nice to some of its own.
Djokovic on the other hand is loved by all of Serbia.
No more of this no one loves Djokovic narrative please. He has an entire country who loves him, fans in Paris who can reduce him to tears of humility, Australian crowds who love him (ATP Cup? AO?) and some of the most passionate, and sometimes crazy, fans on the net who will defend him to the end of the earth?
Is that not enough? How much love can one man possibly have the capacity to receive?

The vast majority are people who fled Serbia, most around 20 years ago.

We've deported many, sent some off to be tried for war crimes and there are still a disproportionate number involved in organised crime. Those are facts that will cause some people to cry racism, but they are just facts.

Are they all bad? Of course not. I have a couple of mates of Serbian decent who are good people .. and they too acknowledge that we had a lot of scum come here from Serbia that we'd be better off without. Dimir Dokic and the Tomic family, if you'd like to bring it back to tennis.

There were many drunken Serbia fans ejected from the crowd for terrible behaviour at the ATP Cup and this has also happened at the AO. You get the occassional problem with fans of other ethnicities, but it's a constant problem with the Serbs.

Cry all you want, these are just facts and pretending these problems don't exist doesn't help solve them.

HOLY S*IT LOL!!!

Also to answer OP's question; correlation does not imply causation
However, as a fellow member of the balkans I have observed multiple times a noticeable bias against the Djoker. Why? Not really sure. I mean, the US did have a propaganda war back in the days against communism. Former Yugoslavia was communist and therefore "evil" etc. My impression is that today's average Western citizen doesn't know that Yugoslavia doesn't exist anymore and communism is dead over there. Anyway, didn't mean to offend anyone, just my opinion. Yes, it might be biased but it's what I have noticed in my limited observation samples.
