I have some examples from the past:

Nottingham 76: Connors vs Nastase.

Johannesburg 77 : Borg vs. Vilas.

Nottingham 77: T. Gullikson vs. J. Fillol Sr.

Montecarlo 81: Connors vs Vilas (5-5 first set, suspended by rain).

Rotterdam 84: Lendl vs Connors (bomb threat).

Stratton Mountain 87: Mc Enroe vs Lendl.

What do you think about it? Should ATP do like ITF, counting as a title the tournament for both players (check players bio in its website). Should it be counted like runner up for both? Or keep forgeting those events for its archives?

My opinion: agree with ITF, you can't forget those tournies and the fact that wasn't fault of the players that rain or other reasons don't let that game was played: I mean, both went to the finals, try to play the game (at least in the last three I listed) and just can't be finish.

Awaiting feedback...

Greetings.

Lucio.

PS: If you have more finals unfinished, please let me know.

Divide the title.
I think that in that time the points and money were divided between the finalists, so it's a reasonable situation.

whoa, there was bomb threat at a tennis tourney?? what happened in that?

also i believe they should just divide it if they can't replay it if it was a close match, if it was totally one sided you could always do it by the number of games won.

Here's another unfinished final, 1973 Kitzbuhel

also, the semis at 1974 Hong Kong were never completed:

nor 1971 Bristol:

and from AndrewTas, 1971 Kitzbuhel final was also unfinished

well, it is certainly a problem. Especially if someone has points to defend for a past victory, gets to the final again and it gets suspended. I think they should both be given the points for victory. Nothing else really makes sense. Then the other question is whether to include that in their bio as a win, which they did not really obtain in reality.

Should count as win. Sometimes a final was postponed to a later termin. The 1968 Boston US pro final between Laver and Newcombe was played in September, when the tournament was played in begin of June. I think in the 80s, some finals were also played much later, one or two with Vilas, if i remember it right. Maybe Connors and Vilas should play the Monte Carlo final now, Connors would happily agree.

Average the first and second place points and prize money between the two players, and list both as co-winners for the record books.
