Serena once again looks out of shape. The overly thick thighs. The overly large rear end. She just doesn't get it.

I believe she'll never win another major. Her extra weight will not allow to stay uninjured as she puts too much strain on her joints. She's already lost at least 1/2 to a full step. Her mobility and agility is not that good anymore either.

She has wasted her talent over the last three years and has gotten sloppy--both with her eating habits and poor fitness, and her continued mechanical flaws in her groundstrokes. Her unforced errors make it painful to watch her sometimes. Her days of overpowering and out athleticizing people are over.
What a waste!!

Why was it removed? I thought I didn't enter it. I know I was harsh, but this woman has always bugged the crap out of me.

I now understand that. My question is why? Because I said Serena is fat?

Or because I said I wish she, Joe Pike and Williams Planet would go away?
What gives?

1. Yes she is out of shape, but she doesn't look as bad as in the US Open, so she's doing something about it

2. She will win more majors if she dedicates herself to tennis again.

3. From what I recall of the US Open, she's lost at least a full step. She was hitting many shots off balance and had to resort to slicing/drop shotting some forehands because of this.

4. The "mechanical flaws" in her groundstrokes stem from being too slow and out of position when she's hitting them. Aside from having the bad habit of hitting off the back foot occasionally, her groundstrokes are as technically solid as when she was dominating in 2002/2003 - just rustiness, poor fitness and lack of match play have taken its toll.

I'm not sure. Don't blame yourself since you don't know for sure. It could have been me with my over-the-top sarcasm or FedererUberAlles bringing up sensitive WWII matters.

...but when I think about it, it probably was you.

haha, but only 30 reasons are valid,at 155 i think she will be at her fighting weight.:)

u talk so badly of someone who has achieved so much and who is not willing to give up no matter wat ppl say about her. She may b over wieght but that neva stopped her winning aus open last year. U all will b shocked when she walks away with one of the slams this year.
Yes i agree she needs to get fit. Only because we know she is fast had she been a bigger player like lindsey u wouldnt say such crap.

Yeah, that was a pretty terrible thing I said. But, it was a quote.

What with her forrays into TV, fashion and whatever, Serena probably leads a fuller and, for her, more satisfying life these days than virtually all her tennis colleagues. If she's content to have tennis as a part-time profession and still contend for titles here and there, good for her. It simply doesn't have the same importance for her as for everyone else. Surprising that someone who calls himself BjornBorg can't understand that a player may get tired of the grind prematurely.

Well said. Since we are speculating why she is so plump after the last couple of new years I have my additional theorys. She may be a big fan of eating entire turkeys and pumpkin pies solo during the holiday season. Since she was most dominate while in shape she may enjoy the challenge of being slower around the court and evening things out for the rest of her competition. Thus the mental stimulation of closer matches appeals to her more.

Well in the womens game they do not have to move around as much. I guess all that extra mass is helping her attain more power?
im not sure if i agree that women dont have to move around as much. if anything, they move around even more than the men, since women generally dont generate that much pace to be able to hit as many winners as men do. and i think their rallies generally tend to be a few strokes longer than the males'. so gaining weight would actually hurt serena's game considerably.

and she certainly isnt eating for more power cuz look at her arms. they're massive enough.

her biceps are almost nadal-class

The problem with your response Mary is that Bjorn was the number one player in the world for 5-6 years, won over 75 tournaments, got to what, 17 grand slam finals--without even playing Australia.

Borg achieved 5 times more than what Serena has. Your holier than thou reasoning falls short. What about her obligation to her fans? She has let down many, many people over that last three years. What about her responsibility to women's tennis?? Whenver a world class athlete who has achieved gets that sloppy and underachieving, it takes away from the sport itself--particulary women's tennis. People get turned off by the sloppy errors, the lack of fitness. You can chose not to believe that and self-righteously talk about it all being Serena's "choice"--but it's far more complicated than that. She has actually turned more people off from the sport. The overwhelming majority of people do not want to see her act on TV--unless she was really, really good. But, she's horrible.

And Borg was almost 27 when he walked away. Serena has had a half-assed approach to the game since she was 21.

So you all are stating that Serena ain't been hungry since.......since she and Big Sis started those MickeyD's commercials?

Serena was fat last year as well but that did not seem to stop her from winning the Australian Open.

She's a tremendous mental competitor--maybe the best in the women's game--along with Henin.

She barely won last year. If you watched the match, you knew she pulled out probably the best "mentally tough" match of her career. Also, it was pretty obvious also that Sharapova choked in that match. Serena was not the same player as in previous years, but she reached down with all the energy she had and got lucky as well. That's not going to happen anymore, I can assure you. And that was her first major in 18 months. She's won one major in the last 11-12 that have been played. And since then, she has regressed even more.

She's also a year older and her body has broken down even more. Unless she goes on a Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova fitness and overall preparedness program--she is done! She will never win a major again. Bank on it--unless she gets back down to 155 and cuts out the other crap. Right now, there are 15 women players that could beat her on any given day--probably more.

That's a cop out. Those 'other things' will be around when she's too old to play tennis. And the only reason she gets any publicity in those activities is because of her tennis - she's certainly not a talented actress and there are young girls getting off buses every day in NYC who think they can design clothes. She should concentrate on tennis. Considering the Sisters didn't play much junior tennis the 'burn out' excuse doesn't carry much weight at all.

Yeah, you tell her man! Concentrate on tennis.. Tell that to Sharapova and Kournikova too! They've won a lot more than Serena, LOL.;)

Wow, what an absurd bashing of a champion that has won every major, three of them twice! I'm not sure what the purpose of your post was, but it seems kind of abusive. I recently saw Serena play live at a charity event to benefit kids with cancer, and when she spoke to the crowd afterward it was very moving. She is a winner and you can hate that all you like!

You have to admit that some dresses she wore were ghastly.
I was watching an interview on Yes Network and she declared, "I don't mean to sound arrogant. I don't need to learn fashion designing from a teacher anymore!"

SERENA LOOKS GREAT ...

in the milk advertisement currently running in several magazines including the TIME. The ad does not explicitly identify her as Serena, but the references to her achievements in tennis leave no doubt that it is Serena. The ad further states something to the effect that milk helps her either attain or maintain her slim figure. And I've got to admit she looks fantastic in the picture. What do you think? Is this an air-brush job?

Why should she? Would you force yourself to participate in a career path and dedicate your life to and around it if you don't want to?

Doing one thing all the time can get annoying, no matter how much you love it. But serena is proving that you can take a career seriously, without it ruling your life.

Because she's been given the talent to do it.

Even Jesse Jackson says "failure to take advantage of an Opportunity is a sin." And as I said those other things will still be available when it's time for her to truly hang up the rackets.

The Sisters use this 'other life' stuff as an alternate Excuse To Losing when they feel they've used Injury too often.

Because she's been given an incredible talent. Even her buddy Jesse Jackson says "failure to take advantage of an Opportunity is a Sin." She and Venus both said all the right things: "we know and respect the history of game, blah, blah, blah" then they thumb their nose at it by not playing or showing up to events (and pocketing appearance fees - if I were running the Hong Kong event I'd want my money back from Serena) out of shape.

Those other activities will be around after their tennis career. To them it's just another excuse for losing when they've overused "I have an Injury" too often. Sad.

And Carter, Sharapova a) hasn't been on tour that long; b) does have other interests off the court - she just doesn't flaunt them like the Sisters after losses.

Should Serena force herself to play and compete in roughly the same amount of tournaments say, Maria Sharapova plays in, despite the fact that this is clearly not what she wants to do all because of... religious fervour? Because it would be a sin not to? Sounds pretty weak dude.

In addition to Serena's lack of conditioning why on earth did she change to a more powerful racquet when she plays such a high risk game? That was one dumb move.

Holy netcord! Yeah, its up to us to decide what the "Sisters" should do. They're different than any other pro on tour when it comes to injury pull outs? what color is the sky in your world? dude, you've got some issues with them other than tennis.

If Serena don't care, well, why should we?

plastic surgeon report Ms Serena Williams- breats reduction
- tummy tuck
-Liposuction
- butt reduction

Weight loss treatment recommended as well.
date of examination: 9th Jan '06

Neither William's is fit enough to go with Clijsters or Davenport for 3 sets in the heat at the Aussie Open. Look for Serena to go early and Venus in the quarters...

Dude, are you on something? There are at least 20 players who could take a set off her--and at least six or seven that would probably beat her if they played at this time.

Maybe by the Spring, if she's 15 pounds (could lose 20-25) slimmer and has been playing regularly, she could be a top 5 player again--not now.

Grim, Serena looks thin in that pic. She's a mesomorph, get over it. If she seriously hit the weights, she may look like an NFL running back from the back.

Newsweek ran Serena's "Got milk?" ad last week, and yes, it is specifically identified as Serena in the tiny print at the bottom of the page. This photo is so phony that even her father wouldn't recognize her. Did they pop her head onto another person's body? And the kicker is that the purpose of this ad is to tout the weight-reducing effects of milk. What were they thinking when they picked Serena? (Probably, "Hey, we know this great Photoshop guy...")
