Uniqlo apparel review

Federer wore a nice light-green warm up jacket earlier in the year, but I've never seen it offered through Uniqlo.

I got socks and US size was 27-29cm instead of 25-27cm.
In Asian countries, socks size is 25-27cm.
Both versions say “one size”. Also FO socks were 25-27cm.
I measured FO uniqlo socks and it was shorter so US version Wimbledon socks are slightly bigger.
Also Wimbledon socks are shorter . Slightly higher than half-crew socks.
Material is slightly different.
Wimbledon socks are more like cotton socks instead of synthetic slippery feeling of FO socks.
Close to last year’s US open uniqlo socks.

Ever since fed joined uniqlo they started using 57% cotton socks. Used to be 84%. Has anyone here actually played in both?

Tried Wimbledon Fed kit today. Same as the other typical Fed uniqlo apparels.
I was concerned that there is no button or zipper but it was easy to get on and off.
Nike’s 2011 fed AO polo had a small issue that I was a little struggle to get on and off even though I don’t have big head size.
Looks like Uniqlo is doing well even though it’s white color apparels. Popular sizes are gone for second batches in US.
Not sure there will restock again.

Great quality! But I believe Uniqlo is just doing the tennis just to drive people to the street apparel.
Agree with you. Also I can't never figure out why Uniqlo won't put their beautiful logo on every T-shirt ?? some of the nice t-shirts are like Blank White and it is like wearing underwear and playing tennis

I actually prefer this minimalist approach and I think it's part of the reason why they are successful

I agree. But it is not even about the FB stuff, I know people have differing opinions about the Uniqlo deal. I will say long-term it is a bad deal. Nike and the RF brand was going to grow into other tennis players wearing his line and other sports. With that said, pointless to discuss it anymore. I miss the RF Nike lab collection and the special sneaker drops. :(

I would like them to sell their dry ex to have logo. But i think if they do that their signature line of fed and nishi would become just like normal clothes and they will have a hard time to justify why their dry ex fed are 39$ and the normal ones are like 15

cuz at that point they are advertising for the brand and they would -need- to have a logo, i know i for one if i owned a brand of clothing, i wouldn't want myself to be the model of my brand. lol

maybe eventually as they get even bigger, they can start offering logo and non-logo like some other brands do

I have this polo, very nice, not expensive, lightweight feel, but it's 100 % polyester, not sure it's breathable like Nike Dri Fit, and with the sweat, the polo have started to smell bad .

Tide sport detergent and a little white vinegar in the wash will take care of lingering odors

I have not seen them restock in the past. I would not count on it this time.

I guess if you like it jump on it quick

First Wimbledon kit was sold out very quickly because they only had less than 40 items per sizes then restocked for 100+ for popular sizes. Sold out now and I don’t think they will restock again.

How do you know they only had 40 per size?
Uniqlo website has almost real time stock system.
When they released Wimbledon kit in US, XS and XXL were less than 18 and S, M, L were about 35. Sold out most of sizes then restocked a few days later with full stock which is 100 but still sold out.

Anyone have any updates on those Roger GO shirts? Saw him wear a nice white shirt with grey words, but don't see that on the UK website...

disagree, I don't like looking like I am wearing underwear. but then Why is the Pros like Nishikori and Federer have Big Uniqlo logo on their T-shrit and polos ?

Agree. Adding a nice treatment of the Uniqlo logo wouldn't make the clothes minimalist or non minimalist, but it would add nice detailing and "finish" to the garments so that they don't look too much like lounge or sleepwear.

Yesterday in one of his training sessions, Federer wore a grey Polyester top with a subtle treatment of the Uniqlo logo which would be a great retail item for Uniqlo to stock.

Sold out! I have white and black versions. Plus two more whites for my son. Plus white and black caps. Sold out by Thursday of first week of Wimbledon online.

I had to go hunting in my nearest store and luckily had caps and t shirts in sizes and colours I needed. The stock listing for stores was way out though. Said out of stock of some items in that store but had loads of them.

Oddest thing was there were no socks released online but loads of size 6-8 in store. But now larger socks at all. Almost like there was a production issue.

Congrats for finding their tennis cloths  They seem to endorse and yet have next to nothing for tennis and very limited sizes. I went into one of the flag ship stores, they carried one tennis shirt in small and medium and one pair of shorts in small. It was truly amazing to see pretty much nothing

Darn... hope they'll have some goodies at the NY Flagship store for the U SOpen!

Thanks for all the info.
Do you know what Nike tennis sock size would 25-27cm and 27-29cm correspond to?
Honestly, I can’t comment on that. One size is very tricky.
Nike usually go M size for 6-8 size and L size for 8-12.
My size is 7.5 so I can go either M or L size.
For Uniqlo one size socks might be good around 12 for 25cm-27cm but not sure.

BTW, US open socks Asian version listed as 26cm and US version listed as 27-29cm

What is your experience with washing the dryex T-shirt’s? They say to line dry them but I really don’t wanna go through all that if I don’t have to.

I never put any poly material into a dryer. Always hang dry. It will last almost forever unless washing machine ruins poly fabrics. Poly materials dry within an hour so hang dry will be the best.

Thanks for all your help.

Are the Uniqlo Federer US Open socks thicker or thinner than Nike Elite Tennis socks?
US open socks are similar to French open socks. Wash a few times, it will become a little thinner.
Wimbledon socks has extra material (front area) so looks like it will stay same a little longer than those US open or French open socks.

US open uniqlo vs Nike elite.....
Looks like similar thickness or extremely thicker for elite socks in my opinion.

Got the Federer shorts, Nishikori hat and wristband last week. The hat seems to redirect all the sweat moisture to the brim, which I'm not sure what to think. I don't notice my other hats doing this as much. I like it better than my Lacoste polyester hat, but not quite as soft and comfortable as the Lululemon Lightspeed run hat.

The wristband is nice, feels sturdy and heavy, and not quite half size. I think I still prefer Underarmour performance wristband overall because I find it to be the lightest, although it doesn't feel as cushy or comfortable as other brands. But if you like the heavier, sturdy, "towely" feeling type of wristband this is probably better than the Nike/Adidas wristbands.

Federer shorts are on par with any other polyester shorts out there like Nike Dry Fit shorts, maybe feels slightly more comfortable but it's also a bit more slim fitting and a little loose, so there is a chance you might have to adjust them a bit to avoid having your bulge exposed at a weird angle. Perhaps you might want to wear the Uniqlo airism boxer briefs underneath. :) Overall, I still think Lululemon is the gold standard for super comfortable, "second layer of skin" comfort, light weight shorts (especially the liner included pacebreaker shorts), but at half the cost for comfort that is close enough, I'm very satisfied with the Uniqlo shorts. It's also a nice break from the Nike/Adidas/Underarmour apparel and I look forward to seeing what goes on sale next season.

I bought couple of apparels from Uniqlo and I can tell its much comfortable to wear and much better quality than Nike. It has some thickness to it, but not to bulky as basketball shorts.
