Unlike you, I know real Novak Djokovic

Novak is widely recognized as the tennis GOAT by practically all experts (journalists, commentators and other players). There’s really no debate anymore other than some isolated fans in Internet forums and even there they are in the minority

Recency bias. Djokovic is just another all time great

He’s way beyond that. In the future it may change but today he’s the GOAT, a result of all he has won

I disagree. Everyone has his/her own principle and standard way when evaluating player's ATG. To each their own

crybabies, i know real you all
u would say djoker and u all don't care
nevertheless, it is (not) funny that the so-called goat still needs to use boo to motivate himself

i know u all wont agree but it is my view that it hurts djoker deeply that no matter how many he has won, he still has so many visible haters

i know u all wont agree but it is my view that those haters are not fedal fanbase and they just dislike the style and attitude of djoker

At 8-7 to Federer in the fifth set, the Swiss served two aces to bring up championship points at 40-15. The crowd rose to its feet, iPhones at the ready; even the press were writing the final lines. I doubt a single person believed Djokovic could come back — except Djokovic himself. If you ever get a moment, go to YouTube and watch back the sequence and you’ll see Djokovic preternaturally calm, like Gandalf on the Bridge of Khazad-dum: eyes focused, lips whispering to himself, that granite mind still daring to hope. The forehand winner he hit at 40-30 was so beautiful it should be framed and hung at the National Gallery.

hitting balls at lineswoman
When did he hit balls at lineswoman, except the US Open incident? I kinda agree with the rest of the post, though I wouldn't call him sour, but somewhat a frustrated guy when it doesn't go as he planned so he does things he don't when he has a peace of mind.

The best ever. :giggle: But I do understand it is extremely painful for you to go back just a second in 14th of July 2019. 8-B
Oh no I got a spite reply from AO13 didn’t see that coming

“Granite mind Djokovic who has the best mental game ever gave up on himself & didn’t believe he could come back from just two MPs down despite having done it before in a slam” 8-B “Calm like the Bridge of Khazad-dum” Queue Gandalf panting and screaming 8-B

In the words of MichaelNadal, log off bestie. I’m about to throw some wings on the grill though, maybe you could glaze them while you’re at it? 8-B

Hahahaha what?!
you see, I remember several such shots that were etched in my memory as well as by many others. I don't think you should have looked for that shot on the net either, but you already knew what it was about. neither I nor others and neither you remember hundreds of other similar blows. but these, for example, have something in common that makes them so special and unforgettable.

Fans don't need to know him personally off the court. Most don't care what Nadal, Federer does off the court with their family, friends or charities. Fans pay to see how they perform on court which includes:
- respecting the other player (no over the top in-your face outbursts) when you win a point. BTW, Krecjikova does this too after winning points and it's annoying and disrespectful.
- stop begging fans to cheer for you if you win a nicely constructed point. Cheers come naturally. They are not begged for.
- controlling your anger and not breaking rackets, like Benoit Paire or Kyrios.

A person could write a book and do talk show interview tours about how they know Djokovic (or Kyrios or Benoit,) outside of tennis and just great guys. It's likely true and expected. But he already showed us who he is on the court with ballboy shouting and stupidly challenging past fans who said something about his family to a fight. It's not MMA. Just inform the tournament director to tell everyone on loudspeaker if they do this they will be kicked out and possibly fined.

Course I got you mate because I actually know what I’m talking about. If you have a rational rebuttal other than whatever elementary school yard comeback that is lemme know. Otherwise recess is over take notes. Only butthurt is gonna be on the can later. Barbecue in the country yesterday, some wings and pizza today, heading to the lake and then my favorite restaurant life’s good dude. Need some salads tomorrow for fiber.

I prescribe you log off because I think it might help you to learn the sport by picking up a racket and actually getting on court. 2-bit trolling only gonna get you so far my man. Ain’t no shame in being a point away from waxing your rivals in B2B slam matches at 38 and ain’t no shame in Nole locking in and clutching up

God the sport is so dead when we’re doing the “Novak Djokovic the unloved champ” discourse for the millionth time. Crazy how much traffic it still generates too looking at the replies to some threads on here.

Spot on. He even fuelled the situation to the max to create some buzz. Looks like ha has accepted being "bad" is the only way he gets noticed.

When he lifts the trophy, the stories will once more be about the unloved champion who "doesn't get the respect he deserves" and "if only he wasn't from Serbia" etc. Fans and media never seem to get bored with these sort of ancient type of notions. Unbelievably boring and unappealing.

It would be great if he took the role as the mature champion who knew if you can't change the world, change yourself.

#25 is coming, but not without sarcasm, I fear.

Why would tennis audience all over the world, who share little of the same media, have different cultural expectations of on- and off-court behavior, different histories and relationships with the sport of tennis, etc., all come to the same conclusion to cheer against one Novak Djokovic? I think the simplest answer is: They don’t.

The idea that Novak gets less crowd support in most of the matches he plays strikes me as absurd. In most of his matches, he’s the superstar. No crowd other than a home crowd is gonna favor, say, Roman Safiullin over Novak Djokovic. None. It’s true the crowd will often cheer for the underdog, especially if they’re nearing the end of a lopsided affair, but thats just rooting to see more tennis. It happens to literally everyone. Even Roger Federer.

Another thing: I rewatched the 06 US Open final a couple years ago and was shocked at how much the crowd called out during both guys’ service motions. You think the American US Open crowd was anti-Roddick? No, they were just drunk and rowdy. And neither player picked fights with anyone in the crowd, either. The truth is stuff like that happens all the time, especially in tight slam matches, and normally it doesn’t register because most players don’t make a fuss about it and there’s no big narrative about how the crowd is intent on disrupting, I don’t know, Casper Ruud. Only when it’s Novak.

Or take something like the crowd jeering when a player stops the flow of the match at a big moment to argue with the umpire. That happens to everyone. Even Fed got jeered. But when it’s Novak, it’s just another example of how he’s treated uniquely terribly by crowds.

Now, I also don’t doubt that he gets a higher percentage of hecklers and of course doesn’t get the crowd support against other superstars. But the narrative that’s gelled around Novak and crowds makes people perceive normal innocuous stuff as being specifically targeted against Djokovic in a way that I’m guessing isn’t really an accurate reflection of things.

#25 is almost a certainty. But at this point it won't change Djokovic's legacy. Nobody that doesn’t like Djokovic will say "well now that he's won 30 Slams I completely changed my mind about him."

Feel free to send me some videos of you playing tennis or hitting the wall, whatever you want, I'll send mine. As a bonus you'll get videos of my best lifts in the gym in deadlift, squat and bench, plus I'll send you some pics of my current form.

You picked the wrong guy to brag about playing tennis and sports in general my friend and I have pictures and videos to confirm that. :D

Thats the thing though, fans do not see him as more accomplished. Look at his slam spread and when they came.
I have no idea if he reads social media, if he really does manage his own X account (i would be astonished if he did) then he would see the stat padding posts which are incessant.
It may be we are all looking at this wrong as well, it may have nothing to do with Fedal as actually his whole persona has got much more sour since the emergence of Alcaraz and Sinner as top dogs.
Well, how many of Federer's slams had Nadal and Djokovic as victims when they were legitimate contenders? Federer had about 4 of those: 3 for Nadal and one for Djokovic.

Nadal had 22 slams, with 14 at RG: almost 2/3 on one surface.

Nadal had a better career off clay than McEnroe's entire career and the same as Agassi!! Not sure why people bring Nadal's dominance on clay as some sort of negative lol. His clay resume is why he is arguably GOAT as off clay his slam record is ATG level. On Clay it is unmatched

I loved that speech by Djokovic, he was respectful but very clear. "Ive been on the tour for 20 years, i know all the tricks". "You guys cant touch me".

Insane mentality, all the matches vs Federer, Nadal etc with the audience against him.

Respect.

That's why Nadal had the best clay career, and one of the best careers, but not the best.

Sorry, you were saying something about butthurt?

“You picked the wrong guy” yeah ok buddy. I didn’t mean to insult your manhood which is what I assume I’ve done after the knee jerk reaction to bench and squat. I’ll pass on pictures of you posing and exposed too, not really into that stuff or getting into a **** measuring contest.

Sent you a DM
