Unluckiest player of all time?

Somebody beat me to Andrea Jaeger. So much potench, and then she went crazy. I recall a story, circa the time she quit tennis, of her playing tennis against a wall and screaming.
And maybe Zina Garrison, too; a brilliant athlete, undone again and again by nerves of goo.
And Helena Sukova.

Grimjack and Pushmaster just proved my point. Most would say it's unlucky as hell to die IN YOUR 30's (young) from a disease at the top of your game coaching the GOAT!! A stabbing can't compare, shes walking around and shes rich. You guys are high!

I wouldn't call that unlucky in tennis terms. He died which was rather unlucky in terms of life, but his tennis career was quite normal.

Getting stabbed in the back at 18/19 years old, the year after winning 3 slams is quite unlucky from strictly a tennis point of view. I don't think it can get any worse considering how young and dominate she was.

how about derrick rostagno
89 us open 2nd rnd
1 point away from beating boris becker, 4th set. derrick comes to net, anticipates correctly where beckers passing shot is going, the ball hits the tape goes over his head. becker wins the point, the next two sets, and the match and later went on to win the whole tournament.

or ivan lendl (apart from all of his bad luck at wimbledon)
88 masters final, vs. boris becker
5th set tiebreaker, 6-5 boris ahead, an amazing 39 shot rally, lendl controlling the point with the forehand, becker defending, becker hits down the line backhand it hits the top of the tape and just dribbles over, for the tiebreaker, the match, the season ending tournament, ranking points, etc...lendl looked severly ticked off after the match to end like that
