His only goal is to win a 23rd slam to get the slam record, I don't think he really cares about the rest.
The 2-1 bud open meme would live on, so that wouldn't make a big difference lol. But he does need a 4th USO title badly.Winning 8th W title to equal Federer.
Winning 4th UO title to equal Nadal, and not having his fans say that he has more UO titles than Djokovic.
He has to do it within a short period of time, '23-24.
He will be coaching Rune in his 40s.Despite the absence of Roger and Rafael these goals can/should keep Novak motivated if he is to ascend to the next level .....
01. 25+ Grand Slams in total
02. 400+ weeks at 1
03. 8th year end 1
04. Need to beat Alcaraz, Rune & Sinner in Grand Slams a few times over the next 2-3 years.
05. 8th Wimbledon to be won (has this year / next year, he has 2 opportunities)
06. Aim for a 4th US Open (this year is his best chance)
07. Aim for a 3rd French Open Title (this year is his only chance)
08. Break Ken Rosewall's record of oldest GS winner @ 37yrs 2 months
09. Attempt at Connors's 109 titles record (low priority)
10. Try for 7th WTF Title, very hard but no harm in trying
11. Most HC Titles (record held by Federer [71 titles] ... Novak is on 67)
12. Oldest ATP Rank 1 (record held by Federer at 36yrs 10days 10 months)
13. Longest gap between 1st slam and last slam (17 yrs ... held by nadal)
14. Longest gap between 1st year end 1 and last year end 1 (12 yrs ..nadal)
15. Distant goal ... possibly unachievable ..... Attempt to become the first man to win a slam in 40s ?

Everyone shouldSounds like the goals of a fan boy who is living vicariously through his hero.
One or two more slam wins would be just fine.Despite the absence of Roger and Rafael these goals can/should keep Novak motivated if he is to ascend to the next level .....

Boring answer but winning the French Open has to be the priority.
That is all that is needed now. Don't need anything else really.
Ideally 4 more slams would be good. The somewhat unrealistic but ultimate goals for Novak:
- 4 more AO to reach 14 titles in a single major
- 1 more WB to tie Federer at 8
- 2 more USO to tie the record at 5
- Olympic gold in Paris
Will be really happy if he gets 1 more WB and 1 more AO.
It'd be nice. But too much running, points are too long will drain the energy out of his 36 year old legs. Wimbledon's the easiest slam in this context.Boring answer but winning the French Open has to be the priority.
So close to 23 right now. I think the triple career Slam would be even better than the 400 weeks. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

Yea it's a lot on the line in the final. Different situation than the SF where he was the underdog.Yeah, TCGS is good to have and it is good to be in the final vs Ruud.
Number 23 will leave Novak nervous as well, it is good we have RUUD instead of Zverev. Sasha does have weapons to hurt Novak.

Yea he will be nervous but to be honest, based on their SF Ruud looks to be the tougher opponent here than Zverev. Djokovic will have to work a bit more if he wants this.
So what do you think - Is Ruud a better final for Djokovic then Zverev ?

16. CYGS
He has more than enough love from his family, team and many fans.To be loved as much as the Other Two.
Your wish has been fulfilled.Boring answer but winning the French Open has to be the priority.
I think Novak is only really motivated by these things:
- win Wimbledon now to have a shot again at CYGS.
- win more slams to be safe from a nadal comeback.
- win Olympics
I think the most realistic scenario is that Novak will loose all motivation after Olympics and then soon after retire. Maybe he wants to go out with a bang and retire after winning a slam like Pete?
We will see.Pete's body was running on fumes, in Novak's case he can still go on for an year or 2, so he won't immediately retire. He has quite a few records in his mind and he will also try to compete with Alcaraz, Rune and Sinner as long as he can. His goal now is to hold them off for as long as he can.
@nachiket nolefam and I discussed this before, I am sure Novak too has same thoughts on his mind, he is not limiting his thought to only Nadal.
As almost everyone else, yes.He has more than enough love from his family, team and many fans.
TRUE! I only wrote that post because, if you listen to some here, everybody hates Novak. As almost everyone else, yes.
I think that there are many people who don't love him that don't necessarily hate him.TRUE! I only wrote that post because, if you listen to some here, everybody hates Novak.
