Upcoming Rankings

So, Djokovic maintained the #1 ranking for one more week, but there will be major flux in a week's time. Here's the rankings in one week:

01) Medvedev 7,800 (Hertogenbosch)
02) Zverev 7,075
03) Djokovic 6,770
04) Nadal 6,525
05) Ruud 5,050
06) Tsitsipas 4,945 (Stuttgart)
07) Alcaraz 4,893
08) Rublev 4,125
09) Auger-Aliassime 3,850 (Hertogenbosch)
10) Norrie 3,455
11) Berrettini 3,320 (Stuttgart)
12) Hurkacz 3,258 (Stuttgart)
13) Sinner 3,185
14) Fritz 2,920 (Hertogenbosch)
15) Shapovalov 2,473 (Stuttgart)
16) Schwartzman 2,325
17) Cilic 2,130
18) Opelka 2,100
19) Carreno Busta 1,965
20) Bautista Agut 1,868

The only possible changes in rankings are people whom are playing the two grass tournaments this week, both 250s. Those unknown points are obviously not factored into these new rankings.

So, Medvedev will return to #1, Zverev will reach a new career high #2, Ruud will move to a new career high #5 unless Tsitsipas performs well in Stuttgart.

Huh? Is Zverev confirmed that he will NOT play Wimbledon?
And what about Medvedev - can he try again and persuade the British to give him an exemption?

Does anyone know when Rafa will become No.1 again? He’s won two grand slams already this year and almost nothing to defend for the rest of the season.

Also interesting, Berrettini will fall out of the top 10 during grass season (inevitable with 1700 points to defend), and it might happen next week. That'll be the first time outside since 2019, quite the run though he only peaked at #6.

Not before September 12

If Rafa plays Wimby, Tsitsipas and Ruud as 3rd/4th seeds is a joke both are not making that far in the tournament and regarding 5-8 all look strong alcaraz, Faa, Norrie, Berretinni. It's basically a lottery for 2 of them to fall in Ruud/Tsitsipas quarter

I have to say, not seeing Djokovic as the reigning defending undisputed heavweight ATP mens singles number one player of the world just looks wrong on so many levels.

Greatest reign of all time.
Its about to get worse. Much worse.

YE#1 is gonna be a three way dog fight. The winner will almost certainly have to reach the Finals of the USO at a minimum.

Contenders:

Med - Reclaiming #1, can he hold off the field over the second half of the season? The zero wimby points save him for now. Its his YE#1 to lose....
Tsitsipas - gross. He sucks at Wimbledon and gets a MASSIVE pass this year with its points being erased.
Alcaraz - He's coming. I don't know if he'll improve to the point where he's a B3-level player but he's gonna be a 5+ slam winner at a minimum. For this year can he at least maintain his level from the spring? If so he'll reach at least #2 if not #1.

The Wildcards

Nadal - we all know how he tends to disappear post-RG. Soundbites are not promising. Obviously he's just aiming at slams at this point and to that end he only needs to play THREE tournaments: Wimby, Cincy and USO. If he wins USO he could take YE1 with just 2 strong masters performances while the young crowd splits up the rest of the masters points. Its all about the foot.
Rublev - the dark horse. He'd need to go on a run that he's never gone on before. Unlikely.

Dropping like rocks

Zverev - probably out for the year.
Djokovic - might as well be out for the year.

Agree with everything, although Rublev has no chance at #1. I think even Medvedev has a very tough road, though it's possible with a strong summer HC season.

Yeah Rublev would have to take his game to another level. No indication thats about to happen. But if Med falters, who ya got?

Nadal has quite a lead, though I do think he's going to fade due to injury. I'd say he's still got a great shot at YE#1 regardless. Think Alcaraz might pull it off, though. Stef and Medly will be factors, I just don't know if they have it in them to do it this year, or not.

Djokovic is highly likely to drop out of the top 5, too. Thanks Britain!!
Or thanks ATP for the most ridiculous decision ever. Nobody benefits from stripping the points - everybody loses.
Funny how that happens since joker is no longer on the players council (which who the atp supposedly discussed this with) while nadal, who has no points to defend, and federer still are. lol I like all 3 guys but that does make me laugh. nadal definitely benefits most.
