UPDATE - Weeks at number 1

guys, I was a bit sarcastic regarding Roger getting back to #1 and some of you ****s jump right away. I'd like Rog to get one more or let's say 2 weeks more to beat Pete's record but simply don't see it happening at all.

I mean, let's be honest here. He hasn't won a slam in 2 years. It's going to be harder and harder ....

Federer is right on track for reaching #1 somewhere in the summer hardcourt season, if he reaches the Final at Wimbledon and makes at least SF at the Olympics. Both are doable and after that it should be easy for him to take the number 1 spot, barring some massive slump in his form.

for sure, nothing is impossible, but, as I said Fed is simply not consistent enough nowadays. Djoko reached his first RG final, so he gained even more points. Nadal is still there, going pretty strong on his stupid clay.

the only realistic scenario would be for Fed to win W (or get in the final as you said) + the USO, (prior to winning Cincy and Montreal) and then play really well in Asia and WTF ... hoping that both Djoko and Nadal are tired or injured like at the end of last year (don't want this, btw, I want all players to be healthy).

Djoko seems to be pretty good at keeping his #1. He played MC this year, reached the final of RG. He loses some points here and there but always make them up somewhere else. He hasn't played the Asian swing at all last year, so again ... with all respect, it's going to be very hard for Fed to get back to #1.

The bolded part is not true.

Other than that, should Federer reach the Final at Wimbledon, it will be a massive swing in points, having in mind, that he should displace one of the two guys in contention for the #1 spot. He should do relatively well during the Olympics, in order to not fall behind Djokovic and Nadal, and, during the summer hardcourt season, he can gain points on the other two guys, even if they repeat their results from the last year. And I hope, that he can win at least on of the tournaments post-Wimbledon.

There are three possibilities for Fed to not get #1 before US open.

1) Djokovic wins everything till US Open
2) Nadal wins more than Djokovic post Wimbledon
3) A very unfavourable circumstances for Federer (injury, slump, very unfavourable draws)

I guess I should have said 'not as consistent'. dude, I'd be very happy if Rog could make it. As long as Nadal is not #1, I'm happy, lol.

He was (and is) very gifted.

When Hewitt was a junior we all said that we would be a professional some day, the kid was the first on the court and the last off. Why was he number one for so long? Some here will say a weak field? It seems that its a common trend.

I and most of the juniors that played him, most believe hard work and some talent. To us he wasn't very gifted, it was blood, sweat and tears hard work that got him to #1. His gift could have been the ability to work so hard, but he wasn't a natural hitter of the ball.

lol, Nadal has to more than double his number to do anything. That doesn't say much for all the bs hot air people keep blowing about him being so great a player.

Federer is 750 points behind Nadal, and 2970 behind Djokovic. I guess it all depends on the grass season.

The bible has nothing to do with magic... it is considered the perfect number, 6 imperfect and 3 to denote extreme emphasis.
:), like your style.

curious about number 3 tho. are we talking about the top 3 monkeys here and the bible, what is the correlation? I need to know :shock::shock:. you must explain it.

and btw, everything is magic in life

3 denotes emphasis, as in losing to the same guy in 3 slam finals. Losing 3 clay finals in a row last year, then winning 3 finals in a row this year on clay. Magic, in a sense that you do not use it in is frowned upon, Leviticus 19:26 and Deuteronomy 18:10-12. It really point to demonic influence. sorry to hijack:)

I kinda feel bad, we fu.cked up this thread, but it's funny.

OK, I'll stop. The OP is doing a great job.

ps. My Astrologist thinks that my magic number is 8  (not sure what to do with it, but hopefully it'll come to me)

Except that he only lost Madrid and Rome, and won Monte Carlo and Roland Garros (and Barcelona). What three clay finals in a row? ;)

Ahhh sneaky, sneaky you! ;)

Djokovic has overtaken Courier.

If Novak stays the No.1 until October, he will overtake Nadal too.

uh-oh..i feels an online fan fanatics rankings wars galloping over the horizon, :-|

i can see the future, it goes like this..

ur man was no1 in weak era..no, ur man was no1 in weak era..and if it wasnt for mono, knee injury, slow grass, roof on/off, brain damage, sars, hairdo ache, lipgloss poisoning, the ebola virus, bum-ache, slow/faster courts, lassa fever, wind, fake timeouts/toilet break, blue clay, faster clay, fluffier balls, hawkeye going awol, cupcake draws, or global thermonuclear war....

...then djokovic/ nadal would/wouldnt be mostest wks at world no1 rank.

I find it quite telling that you "forgot" to update your own post from July to November, and only "remembered" it when Djokovic got the #1 back at the end of the year.

You're right, though--Djokovic overtaking Courier to take the 11th spot was obviously the biggest thing that happened this year as far as weeks at #1 are concerned...
