This warrants a thread, Youzhny is a two time semi finalist at the US Open in 2006 and in 2010, former top ten player who also has been to the quarters of better at all the slams, his 2016 has been about solidifying his top 100 placing. Djokovic had a lil' wobble vs How Many Times? and yet coasted 6-2 6-1 in the last sets. Novak should win this in 3 or 4 sets but the Colonel has played well so far against Klizan and Pella.

Novak vs Youhzny sounds fun. Mikhail loves to employ the slice to give the opponent different looks and disrupt rythym, but the forehand has to be solid to make it a match. It's been known to break down and spray errors these past couple years, moreso than when playing his best tennis. He's been playing a lot of challengers this year, so he's more than match fit, and is a veteran of the tour, so shouldn't be overwhelmed by the whole situation.

Could sneak a set if playing well. Novak's form is very questionable. Looking forward to it.

Why do we even have these threads for straight setters??
Yes, we should hope the championship should revert to the Challenge round system in place through 1911, where the defending champion only had to play the final against whoever survived the draw.

Djok in 4...that serve is weak enough for Youzhny to get a set.

Fail poll...needs a two-choice option so option 7 can get some votes too.

Otherwise, thanks for the thread!

I hope Djokovic has recovered from the brutal walkover by Vesely.

Awful draw for the Earth's Mightiest Warrior.
Djokovic actually looked good in that walkover against Vesely and Youzhny couldn't perform that well in the previous round having to play three sets.
The last time they matched (2014), Possumovic had had a walkover. I expect an easy walkover for the feisty Russian this time.

Earth's Mightiest Warrior looks overweight in that picture with the charismatic Russian. :)

This would be a nice match if Youzhny was younger, but right now I'm thinking a Djokovic demolition. That's not to say Youzhny would be a ton of trouble if he was younger, but he'd give Djokovic a tougher fight.

Mikhail used to be a very good player. A win for him only serves to highlight how far Novak has fallen from his peak level.

Can anyone explain why are poll results weird to say the least?

Weird in what sense? That Djokovic is actually winning a poll for once? I agree
In sense that Youzhny in straights has the most votes.

I have hardly ever seen Djokovic losing match polls anyway.

Really tired of Djoker's smug face, Youzhny in 5, but the Bet365 money is on Djokovic in 3 sets before you can get your popcorn and salt it.

Djokovic will crush him! Plus the hate for Novak on these boards is sickening and horrible to see. He's the world no 1 for god sakes, show him some respect!!!

Easy 3 set win for Djokovic who is a top skilled elite player.

Only players who can beat him are fellow elite players (Murray, Nadal, Delpo) or zoning ball bashers such as Cilic (could include Delpo here but he's a rung above)

I think Youzhny will play a couple of competitive sets, but I still like Novak to close it out in straights, maybe 6-4, 7-6, 6-2.
