Remember couple of years ago at year's end. Nalbandian was practically unbeatable. He won masters events and also year ending masters by beating Nadal, Federer and everybody that got in his way. He was in what players call GOD mode,,,unbeatable. David is now getting into that mode with US open coming up in just 3-4 weeks. He will beat and cream everyone at US open this year. :)

obviously you haven't seen the year ending masters from few years back where Nalby dominated Federer and Nadal. made them look like they are 1 level below him......

LOL. Nalbandian enjoying God-like status because of two good weeks of his whole career. Gotta love TW sometimes.

LOL, Nalby is playing well, but he's not really looking unbeatable right now. If Nadal and Fed are playing well, not a chance.

This is one of those polls with a false dichotomy, since it is possible to agree or disagree but for different reasons than the ones supplied. In fact it is entirely possible for both of the follow-up statements to be true: that no one can beat god-mode Nalbandian and that Nalbandian cannot keep up god-mode.

Holmes: Actually I have/did. His performances then (as well as now) were impressive to say the least.

However, I apologize for not making myself clearer. The request for Speranza being added to your ignore list has nothing to do with this particular thread. He'd be most appreciative if you could oblige with his request!

(And for the record, I'd guess that Sir David won't make it past the semi finals of the US Open, at best.)

More likely 3rd round. Sure, he can be great to watch but the hype surrounding this guy over the years is ridiculous.

That is quite generous of you Holmes!

Holmes: You could be correct Augustus. As stated, I think semis at 'best', although I'd say 4th round more likely.

That is quite generous of you Holmes!

Watson: Why Meg, it's a Sunday...And Holmes always feels a little more giving on a Sunday ;)

Sadly, Nalby's best chances to win a slam are long gone. I can't even see him reach a QF at this point of his career, too inconsistent, too mentally unstable, and the fire isn't there anymore.

if fire isn't there then why did he lose 50 lbs and is starting to look like Nadal ...

You are right, it's Sunday and Roger's birthday, that second only to Christmas!
Your generosity is valid!

^^ I see Fed is already taking appropriate measures.

LOL at this Nalby bandwagon btw. How long did his 'unbeatable' streak of a couple of years ago last? Three weeks?

Federer just lost all appetite. He is too scared after watching Nalby dismantle everyone at Washington. Roger said he may skip the Open with Nalbandian playing this well,,,,,Roger said he has no Hope...:)

Sadly, the only thing Nalby will dismantle at the Open are tasty donuts.

Amen!

I mean how many times was he on "God mode" at ATP250,500,1000 events just to fail in early rounds at majors..
I don´t see him pass the 4th round of the USO.

nice catch there. clearly fedace tampered with the poll question to manipulate the results. oh wait i'm overestimating his intelligence

Nalbandian is godly right now?

Would that mean Gilles Simon is a demi-god, since he took a set?

Typical TW overreaction: Clownbandian beats Mugdhatis in a MM event and suddenly he's a threat for USO? Get real please.

Nah. The USO winner will be a young player or Fed.

Fed is the only older(late twenties) player that can win slams these days.

Didn't you retire from making predictions after the FO and W where you failed miserably?

I hate to say that but vortex is right...
This is really typical for the members of TW, they act like he´s a newbie who won an ATP500.
Guys that´s Nalbandian who never fulfilled the expections he had of himself and the others had of him ..
He played some unbelievable tennis at masters and ATP500, only to fail at majors.
He has really great H2H stats against Fed 8-10 and Nadal 2-2 but is owned by Ljubicic 5-2.
Now he won an ATP500 and beat Cilic at his worst and Mughdatis.
I know he though played really well but now consider him as a favorite for the USO? No way.
Like I said he won´t pass the 4th because he´s NALBANDIAN. imo

Very glad that Nalbandian got a tournament win this year, but with those double faults, pitiful second serve and fairly slow first serve, he's not going to make it far at the Open...

Not to forget the ridiculous low percentage of first serves...

Haha, funny story. Seriously, let's see him carry this success over into next week. In my opinion, he will be lucky to make it past the third round, if he doesn't get hurt before the US Open starts...

I don't know if Nalbandian can keep his best tennis, we'll see at Toronto and Cincinnati first... But one thing for sure, if Nalbandian playing his best tennis, there is no way any pro player on tour can beat him, even 100% Federer, Nadal, or any other player....

Sure I'm glad that Nalby is in form again but let's be rational, he's not even a serious contender for two upcoming MS's. USO??? Not a chance imo. If he beats someone from top 4 in Toronto or Cincy than we can talk about it seriously.

Hold on, so re-reading through this thread, I realized something: are we discussing a video game? Seriously, God-Mode? Did Nalbandian unlock some cheat code or something and now he has the combined ability of all great tennis players? Because if so, do you think he'd let me in on the secret? I have been trying: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Select, Start; but it isn't working...

I think Nalbandian is the favorite to win the open. Last year Delpotro was the hottest player in the summer and Won the Open. This year Nalbandian is the hottest player going into the open so Nalby should be the Favorite...

He won one tournament, that doesn't make him the favorite. Besides, my vote goes to whoever can win at least one of the master's series convincingly...

Nalbandian=Agassi??? Overhyped, loses motivation quickly, injury prone, gets hot in a hurry. If he can stay as fit dave and found Roddick's motivation from wimby 2009 he can be a threat since his game isnt very taxing on him.

LOL What?? Based on Legg Mason? Maybe your favorite to win, but I wouldn't say "the favorite".

Actually Nalbandian is a player who can surprise everybody and shoot the Maestro, let's say in the second round of the USO(especially if Roger keeps his recent form)!David has beaten Federer enough times, even in the 04-07 period,he can do it again! The same applies for Rafa aswel!
For me Nalbandian is not the favorite for the title in New York ofcourse, but I wouldn't be extremely surprised if he reaches let's say the semifinals by beating Roger and Rafa or Nole and Murray! David many times has proven he can beat everyone......
....and also lost to everyone:(!

Wanna say Nalbandian at 100% vs Nadal at 100% - Nalbandian wins? And same for Federer?...
That´s ridiculous if everybody on this board thinks so Nalbandian is truly overrated.
