I think Wawrinka has a good shot of winning the event. Neither Fed or the Djoker are playing as well as I expected, and Stan isn't playing that well either but seems to be building gradually like he likes to do. If he gets past Anderson which is dangerous for him, I expect him to be playing really well by the semis and too well for Federer to handle if he doesn't play better than he did vs Isner.
The problem I see with Wawrinka is the speed of the court (and faster conditions overall, compared to AO/FO). He needs more time to setup himself optimally for his shots, especially the backhand (his long back-swing), and if someone can exploit that - it's Federer. He can play fast enough to have Stan on the run most of the time (on a faster court) and I believe that could be the case.

Just tuned in. Summary anyone? Is Novak not playing well or Lopez playing great?

I agree, Fed is 16-3 vs Wawrinka with all 3 losses coming on clay.

I agree Stan isn't as good on these courts as the Australian and French. However I still think he can win a U.S Open based on his 2013 performance here. With Djokovic and Federer not looking super great, it increases his chances.

I also think if he had match points vs Federer at the WTF (not super fast, but not much slower than here which is also not super fast) where he was playing pretty badly and got 2 games vs Djokovic, he could beat him here.

Djokovic especialy would be vurnerable to Stan if he reaches the final, losing sets to people like Agut and Lopez. I know Stan is losing sets to some weakish people too, but it is different from him than it is from super consistent machine Djokovic. It shouldn't be happening.

Djoker, Murray are both afraid to attack, they just want to rally all day long. This is what makes Fed special - he'd have eaten Lopez for breakfast by now.
