what about the umpire giving him a pep talk during changeover? has anyone ever seen such a thing before? is that legal?

would Andy Murray approve? He is exhausted due to all the twitter bullying he did yesterday. Go PHH!
Nice pep talk, it seems to have worked

Kyrgios with the double break in the 4th set.
Kohly leads Edben 3-0 in the 3rd. they split the 1st 2 sets.

I reckon the umpire overstepped the mark and will be cautioned by the authorities. Clearly Nick is the sort of player who would benefit from on court coaching such as they have on the WTA. Umpire should have let him implode.
Ben Rothenberg says that USTA is looking into Lahyani's conduct.

He may be a nice guy, but getting out of the chair to talk to Nick? this is way out of bounds to me.

Mo has a huge ego and makes horrible overrules but he's hilarious. He always interjects himself into matches and usually, he's more entertaining than the match itself.

And didn't Mo's actions prove he was successful? Nick was tanking and after the "chat," he went on to win the match! Mac just said there will "be an investigation."

I don’t think he was trying to influence the winner although he may have done that. Fans want to see an interesting and competitive match, not a retirement. He probably thought he was doing the right thing by keeping Nick from walk8ng off the court.

then this is I can respond to without adding all the stuff you mentioned previously.
No problem. Next time we talk on a long thread I will do it esp for you. I didn’t know it was a issue before this thread.

Tell that to Herbert. But of course i'm glad Nick came through, makes for a much more intriguing match against Federer.
