Med and Thiem were and remain my favorites. But my hopes always have been decimated

This looks such an uphill battle for Med. But I hope that he pulls this off. And if he somehow finds the form to pull this off, he is beating Djokovic too.
I’m with you on Thiem, been depressing to see his downfall. Not a Medvedev fan but I’ll take him over Carlos in a final..

Alcaraz was struggling on slow courts of Cincinnati throughout the tournament. Yet it took almost four hours for in form Djokovic to beat him. Here he is playing better. Courts are playing fast as well. He is not going lose to Med for sure. And I believe he will beat Djokovic as well. (Going to be easy win compared to Wimbledon)
What are you basing the playing fast on? Surely not number of aces that are very low this year

CMON MED.

In every logical iteration of this match's assessment I have done in my head, Med doesn't stand a chance.

But heart says miracles happen. I have had too many bloody heartbreaks when it comes to Timothy and Med.

I hope that some miracles are in store.

Pulling for Med. But, if Alcaraz wins the first set, it will be over in 3. Med will roll over like a lap dog.

Medvedev beating Carlos doesn't require a miracle or anything close to that.

Carlos is favored and rightly so but Medvedev can cause anyone problems if he has a great serving day and is able to keep the ball deep.

Alcaraz still needs to execute at a high level.

actually Meds win require miracle...and i dont understand how anyone who watched Meds game for the last few weeks can expect anything different...Iam a Med fan in some way but i do understand his limitations against Carlos... its mission Impossible for Danil specially in his current form

I think Tiny Carl has a slump when he’s up comfortably and gets complacent enough for the Mad Lad to steal a set but nothing more.

For giggles I’ll say Tiny Carl in 4 something like: 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

Meddy knows he needs his very best to have any chance. He literally needs to serve like Peak Sampras or Peak Federer out there. Or bring his 2021 us open final serving to this match.

Problem is he’s not served that well in a while consistently anyway.

I can't remember the last time we had a slam semi-final like this where I actually believed either player could realistically defeat Djokovic in the final.

It might seriously be like 10 years ago.
I personally would doubt Medvedev could realistically have any chances against Djokovic. Alcaraz on the other hand has been alternating wins and losses against Djokovic in their 4 meetings. Djokovic won the last encounter, so I hope they will respect the established pattern :)

The way he's handled Med in the last two matches is a testament to his greatness. Daniil isn't an easy nut to crack at all.

Med wouldn't be the favorite, but he's more than earned the benefit of the doubt that he can do it.

My instinct tells me that Medvedev is going to make Alcaraz suffer today. I still hope Carlos comes through eventually.

This will be a BRUTAL battle. 5 hours plus.
The winner will have NOTHING left for the final.
This tournament has hardly had any good matches. The final will be a damp squib.

Going with Alcaraz in 5. I think Medvedev is in good form but I think he'll eventually fold from the power although I don't mind who wins, either way it's going to be a glorious slam final rematch from either US open or Wimbledon.

Courts playing faster compared to Cincinnati. May it's slower compared last year.
Roddick and Tracy Austin were interviewed before today's semi, both are on site and both said the courts were "slow." Roddick then added, "slow as hell." Brad Gilbert and P-Mac have played on the courts and agree they are slow.

Alcaraz in 4. If he starts dominating the first 2 sets, wouldn't surprise me if he messes around and ends up dropping the 3rd set, which he's done a few times.

Brad Gilbert: "Meddy better change his ROS positioning or he's gonna get crushed. He didn't change it up in Indian Wells, he only tried it very late at Wimbledon. So Meddy either moves up to the baseline or he's gettin' wiped."
