Crawford will give Canelo hell but i want to see how Crawford reacts when Canelo catches him with a (and a lot of) power shot(s)
Crawford's good, and game, but too small- which is the only reason Canelo would take the fight. Not a fan of the latter, in case you hadn't noticed. He's good (for a doper), though. Mighta beat GGG once. ;)

I don’t know why people are so pressed about Alcaraz. Fritz wasn’t doing crap against him either. At least with Novak there’s a slight chance at a good match.

Happy Birthday to Tara!

Yeah, let's GO!
Incredible play from Novak, it was almost like he was raising his game bit by bit till the right moment to get a clutch break that would yield the set!
Also them Serve n Volleys man..
One amazing playah!!

Oh man......had the chance for the escape and just couldn't do it. DF.....wow.

Credit and respect for Djokovic - somehow at 38 gets to his 4th GS SF this season......6-3, 7-5, 3-6; 6-4.

Got a tall task getting a hot Carlos Alcaraz on Friday.
Djoko did what he can and remarkable achievement to get to SF again.

He super consistent even now but Alcaraz should win. That said djoko can just enjoy the occasion as the underdog.

4 SFs in the year he turned 38. 1st time ever in men or women's tennis and probably won't be done for a very, very long time again, if ever.

What that stat tells you should be cause for a lot of dismay and not celebration actually but I doubt you're too concerned with the level of the tour overall.

Commentators are like he is getting closer for Fritz.

You doff he was in finals last year.
There's no such thing as getting closer when the player who's dominating you is well past retirement age. Even if Fritz had won this match, his career record against Djokovic would have remained an embarrassment. A lone win when the opponent is 38 is meaningless. But as it stands, losing this match is a real legacy stain (not that Fritz has much of a legacy than anyone will remember anyway).

His girlfriend doesn’t give a crap about his tennis. She just sits down emotionless

His girlfriend is fine leave her out of this. No matter what she does some clown would say she should have done the opposite.

Fritz might have explicitly asked her to do exactly what she does.

Level of the tour is not great but you still have to be exceptional to do that at 38 when 85-90% of your opponents are at least 10 years younger than you. Alcaraz and Sinner have won the last 7 Slams. Go complain about their Slam wins if you like.

The difference was Novak's play at the net and his serve IMO. Otherwise Taylor probably pulls out the match.

A for effort after coming out tight as a drum, but American men's tennis is still effed up...light years away from another major

Two tall and lanky white guys with similar strokes, black hair, black shirt, black shorts black socks and black shoes...bad look on the screen

We already know the big 3 are exceptional but Novak should be losing to players besides the 2 top guys at this stage.

His level is a shadow of what it was and if this were the WTA people would be howling about this stuff.

Let's agree to discuss it Friday and see how it goes.

Carlos is at another level but a lot can happen in a stressful big match of course including injury.
Well I hope it's not injury. Earnestly hope that they both play their best.
Tennis wise no question. Alcaraz has what it takes to beat Novak. To say that his talent is immense is a massive understatement.
However, at the very top level, the game is played between the ears. So the question is: Does Alcaraz have the mentality to get into a dogfight and beat a determined Novak who is desperate as this is his very last chance?
We shall see. This match will tell us how much Alcaraz has truly matured. Losing to Sinner would be ok, but losing to a 38+ yr old Novak would definitely be inexcusable.

Crawford is tall and may have added a few pounds of muscle, but no doubt Canelo will be the bigger man in the ring. Crawford's tactical mind will be the key, as Canelo is not a young guy anymore and doesn't press as much these days, I feel. It will be a good, tactical match like GGG v Canelo himself. I wonder if Crawford can knock out Canelo though. Either Crawford by decision or Canelo by KO.

Should win? 22 year old Alcaraz should give Egg the type of beating that 22 year old Connors gave Rosewall in 1974. Though Rosewall was almost 40.

"The final was the shortest-ever major men's singles final, both in number of games and duration, lasting only 1 hour and 18 minutes and 20 games. Rosewall remains the oldest major men's singles finalist, aged 39 years, 10 months and 6 days"

Yes indeed. My guess is that Carlos is already a different player mentally from last season or even January but there's no way to establish that beyond a doubt besides playing the big matches against other big match players.

That was just pitiful serving at the end by Fritz. That’s purely mental.
When your biggest strength becomes a weakness, you know you've failed badly, at least for that encounter. If Fritz had blasted in big first serves and Djokovic had nailed them for winners, fine. Good for him. But serving into the net over and over again is, unfortunately, one of the clearest indicators of choking.
