us open dark horses thread

Harrison is through. We will have an unseeded R16 competitor from that section with this and the minor upset by Baghdatis over Benoit's Balls.

If Nadal serves as badly as he is tonight, Kuznetsov could be a tussle for him.

Meanwhile, the roof is closed for the first time...so impressive!!!

Konya is a dark horse in the women's.
There are no dark horses in the men's field - winner comes from Djokovic, Murray, Stan or cilic.

Interested to see if the young Russian Khachanov has enough to support his huge serve vs Ninjakori, who can be troubled by Big Boy tennis.

Dimitrov is the only men's dark horse I can see.

Bencic on the women's side, but these two tourneys are going to be really top heavy. You'll see Djokovic/Murray and Serena/Halep taking the titles.

Del Potro? Kuznetsov? Baghdatis/Harrison? Almagro? Edmund? Dzumhur? Donaldson?

Bad news for dark horses: Khachanov (down 2-1 on resumption; 4-6 to Ninjakori third set); Busta baked a breadstick in set 3 so Tipsa lead is sliced to 2-1.

3-3 fifth set, PCB vs Tipsy. This would be Busta's first win in five while Tipsy has a big advantage in marathon experience and success.

The Donaldson in charge vs Troicki, up a set and a break but this is USO'16 at the new Henry Heimlich Tennis Center. No lead is safe.

Exactly where i was going!!! Was on the Iphone, couldn't add this gif...

Everyone but Djokovic and Murray is a dark horse to be honest. Could possibly throw the likes of Monfils and Kyrgios in the mix as well but they are very dark horses. Thiem doesn't seem to be in the form of earlier in the year and I'm not sure this is the best surface for him. As for Zverev don't think he's ready to be in that conversation 4th round would be a good tournament for him I think and making steps forward. The other 4 not really worth talking about in my view.
Delpo and Thiem have a shot. May the best horse win.

Skull in his hangbag???

Does that mean you imply his head is in his *******???
Before the internet, entrepreneurs in Eurasia who lacked personal office and transport used to walk around with bags hanging around, to keep their hands free for business activity. It's a historico-cultural reference that may not be easy for the masses to grasp.

No dark horses. No real upsets in this one. Novak will win it against Murray or Nishikori in the final. Probably Murray.
