Sabalenka/Dimitrov and Osaka/Kyrgios are not in the draw per the press release July 29. And Badosa is now playing with Draper instead.

Wonder who the remaining 2 teams will be.

This appears to be a wide-open draw.
But it is a pointless exercise to predict this as absolutely nobody knows how seriously the singles players will take this.
The only thing we know is that the doubles specialists and slam champions Errani/Vavassori will be playing for their lives.
Highly doubt Vegas will even have a betting line on this reimagined Mixed event.

Navarro, Paul and Badosa have withdrawn! So Sinner has to find another partner, does he really care enough to do that. 3 teams are still to be announced. Have a feeling this could turn out to be a disaster(maybe Zverev or Shelton withdraws next)
This is still ultimately an exo for the top players, any niggling injury doesn't make it worthwhile to play the week before a slam. I kinda hope there are some walkovers, USTA sort of deserves it.

The top players in singles have to focus on their game in singles. Playing doubles alongside may more often be a distraction and a risk getting injured. Those players quickly calculate what's better to them and their coaches, whose financial well being may depend on their players' success, are most likely anxious too. The ones that push to see those top players and their beauty on the mixed doubles courts aren't acting in the best interest of the players or tennis but on behalf of wealthy conglomerates who seek profits mostly.

OMG, so many of those FAMOUS mixed doubles pairs are unpairing and pairing and unpairing and pairing. Apparently, Sinner has till 2 PM Sunday to pair up with someone else for Emma Navarro has changed her mind and decided to play WTA 500 in Mexico prior to the USO. What a shame for the USO to allow all this nonsense to happen. Did they really think they could run their tournament the way the stock market functions?

It’s imploding in their faces.

How many more with withdraw from this farce.
Zverev is sick, jannik wont find/accept new partner.
Swiatek and Rybakina, one of them may quit.
Only Alcaraz may still play to keep the gossip mills running

Yeah, and if Paolini joins the winner of Swiatek/Rybakina in the women's final, that will be 4 entrants from individual teams in the Cinci finals meaning 2-4 of these are likely to not play the new mixed event.
With Sabalenka no longer playing, and Gauff never having entered, it's looking like a lot of the top players may be absent which lowers the hype for the event immensely given the whole event has basically been a hype generating machine so far.
There's also been a fair amount of scepticism over how seriously the top players will even take the event and if it will feel more like an exhibition quality wise. Someone like Draper coming off a decent layoff may be likely to take it more seriously as it's essential his only matchplay preparation before the singles draw.
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. If it's a disaster of an entry list they will need to massively reconsider the schedule for next year or revert back to the standard mixed doubles format.

Many of the players on the list are lousy doubles players.
Emma Navarro said that she didn't want to play with Sinner as he was a bad doubles partner but accepted it later saying she'd find someone better the next year. Eventually, she cancelled so that she could play the WTA 500 in Mexico. Me think this format may actually be messing up professional relationships on the pro tour.

Without this format, nobody would be talking about MIXED Doubles.
There were other ways to stimulate the interest. This format is an insult to people's intelligence and professional tennis. Without taking pro players' previous success in mixed doubles into consideration, there is no professional MIXED Doubles.

Mixed doubles is a limited pro competition. This week in Cincy, a Masters, there's no mixed doubles. I love pro doubles, but mixed not so much. The US Open mixed is just a fun event.

Mixed doubles is known to be "a limited pro competition". Whether we love it or not, the event is played in pro tour selected major tournaments and so a difference in between "fun event" and pro event must be made. We can agree to disagree on TTW but USO is just bad optics.

One speculative data point and a big conclusion

Sinner smiled when Tiafeo stuck out a middle finger behind his trophy photo shoot. Somehow I doubt he would hold a grudge against Emma.

If no pros actually serious about this event, why would they like their potential mixed doubles partner any less because of it?

We'll see how this show play out. I think USO is quite smart. It's great for marketing and mix doubles. Tennis fans only care about singles slam wins obviously think this event is a hassle. Mixed double tennis is a very unique sport for playing and watching. I hope this USO arrangement works out and attract many new fans.

Kind of a kunt for her to publically announce this unless he was being persistent or disrespectful. No wonder he doesn't say "hi" to her anymore.
And I don't really like Rune that much.
Yes sounds like a text exchange that should be dealt with discreetly and not made public. Publicizing this makes both of them look bad. Not much to gain from it.

Lol.
My thoughts were she brought up she was too old for him first , then that she was married.
Then makes a comment about him not saying hello after she rejected him.

Think she liked the attention and attraction.

I mean something tells me Rybakana and Fritz might win this.
She’s a power player and can take over matches from the women’s side. They played well in Indian wells together. Both big servers.

To be fair, Kudermetova told the story about Holger as part of her friend Elena Vesnina’s podcast. I guess we'd need to listen to the podcast to understand the context of how this story came up. From there, it sounds like some newspaper writer picked up the gossip and published it out further, which is probably not something Kudermetova was expecting to happen.

Additionally, I'm just an average tennis fan and barely know who Kudermetova is. I've only seen her play on TV a handful of times. And yet, even I knew she was married and at least 6 or 7 years older than Rune. With Holger being on the tour, you'd think he know this also... but maybe that's the point... perhaps Holger knew she was older and married, but he shot his shot anyway?

So Alcaraz and Sinner are playing tomorrow in high heat/humidity in a match that may last 3 hours and will be ready to play mixed at 11 am est on Tuesday? Hope they have another team on standby.

They can be in NYC tomorrow night. The mixed will be less taxing than a regular practice session.

True. Flight time from Cincinnati to New York City is 2 hours, and I guarantee that they'll be on a private chartered plane and picked up in limos to their hotels with no delays. The final is at 3 PM EST, and they'll be at their hotels in NYC no later than 11 PM. They certainly won't be first up on the schedule for mixed, and the matches are only Fast 4 format anyway, so it's not going to be a big lift.

People are making this fun little exo out to be more than it is. These guys sometimes do two practice sessions a day and they'll play sets. This mixed format is a walk in the park. And if they're tired they can dump the match. There is zero pressure to perform. So long as they entertain the crowd a little is all anyone cares about. All Charlie has to do is show up with Emma and they'll have won the crowd.

Mixed in only played in slams and olympics

Kudermetova shouldnt have taken the name of player. It was a private message.
Was holger knowing she was married. Probably not

Oh god. U didnt get the context. See the interview..she was kidding, making a joke.
And in later part she said (jokingly) that she got so excited after paired with sinner that she rolled on floor
Another line she made was that she will stay in sideliens and let Sinner hit his groundstrokes in the match and they will win.

Tiafoe incident was a joke. Sinner had bigger problems to worry about.
And he doesnt hold grudge. He is respectful with Novak even after all the unkind comments he made. He doesnt talk about Nick who has dished him so many times
