US Open moves from Sky to Eurosport in the UK

this is the best news ever. eurosport conveniently available for online subscription for 5 pounds for one month then you can cancel. and for those 5 pounds you get access to all the courts.

sky is more expensive, you have to get it for two weeks, and you couldn't choose which court to watch. was an omnishambles, since I am not a regular subscriber.

couldn't be happier!!!!

It always makes me laugh when people say it's good for consumers having the Premier League/Champions League on different channels (Sky, BT, Setanta etc..).

In reality, you end up paying £60 a month for Sky and an extra £20 for BT! Plus the competition means they have to pay big money (which they recoup through higher fees for the consumers), and lose other sports!

This time it's not so bad though, Eurosport do a good job :p

Sky Sports cost £30 a month?

Ah might be around that yeah. I've had the full package for years so never really check the bill anymore.

Thinking of giving up the movies to get the new Sky Q though. Wonder how long 4K tennis will take!

This is great, sky is so expensive, I couldn't care less about the commentators. I wish all the masters were eurosport too.

Just get Kodi. Problem solved, it allows me access to all channels everywhere.

That's a shame. I really enjoy Sky's coverage of the Open. Do Eurosport have the red button?

Oh no! I will miss Marcus! Eurosport Player is good stuff, but Sky's red button option with 5 or 6 courts or whatever it was I liked too! The coverage better be as comprehensive as it is with Roland Garros, or else

Sky customers are set to lose Eurosport from midnight.

Some sort of dispute. So a lot of us will no longer have access.

Eurosport has exclusive rights to the US Open in the UK and also shows many 250s

I'm going to cancel my sky instantly if they lose Eurosport. I only have Sky for tennis. I live in an area where I can't get virgin TV so I might not be able to follow the masters and grand slams (legally) anymore.

Are Eurosport gonna broadcast Wimbledon live too? I know last year they signed a deal to show highlights but are they gonna provide live couverage like all the other slams this year?

Eurosport aren't as important as they once were tennis-wise. There was a time when the vast majority of tennis TV coverage was on there (back in the 1990s). Today, the M1000 events are on Sky Sports, the French Open is on ITV, Wimbledon is on the BBC, and Sky Sports/BBC share the World Tour Finals.

If Eurosport goes from Sky, I will miss it, but I'll survive. I don't use Eurosport for much else except tennis these days. Having said this, I hope Sky and Discovery (owners of Eurosport today) come to an agreement soon.

I paid £20 for the year eurosport player. Was an offer for a little while.

Who has the right to the Masters 1000 and French Open? At least we can rely on the good old BBC for Wimby and WTF.

How do you get BT into your house, my street doesn't yet have the new fast broadband. So in theory I could be stuffed!?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Didn't read your post earlier.

So in reality we only lose the US open and Aussie next year if we remain just SKY customers?

Eurosport also show some ATP 500 and 250 events and Davis Cup ties. Don't get me wrong, it will still be a blow for tennis fans if Discovery take Eurosport off the Sky platform, but in the 1990s Eurosport had most if not all the Super 9 events, showed the Australian Open and French Open in massive detail, as well as some Davis Cup ties and a load of what are now ATP 500 and 250 events.

Eurosport have long shown the French Open in massive detail going back to the 1990s, but ITV (usually on ITV4) have also showed the French Open in massive detail since 2012. The Masters 1000 events have been all on Sky Sports since 2000.

Prior to 2012, the BBC showed highlights of the French Open and the finals in full, but never showed the event in the kind of detail that Eurosport have, and what ITV have since 2012.

Very helpful @Mustard thank you!

One further point, will SKY enjoy exclusivity for the Masters 1000 or will you be able to get them through the BT package or Virgin?
