Makes me remember I have to concentrate very hard to understand English people speaking, well... English. Australians and Americans are much easier to understand TBH.
Exactly. There was a spammer on here a few months ago and he created a few threads in Russian..![]()
I can understand that perfectly. There was a Portuguese user the other day who was accusing me of being unpatriotic and kept posting in Portuguese. I kept replying in English and then the thread ended up being deleted. A shame, too, because the rest of the thread had some interesting points and discussions.
So happy to see him get this win! Aside from being tired out from another 5-setter, I'm almost happy he had to go the 2 sets up route to prove to the naysayers that he could do it. I hope this is a sign he'll have a good fall. He only made round of 32 in Shanghai and Paris last year so lots of potential points to gain. Of course he has 250 points to defend in Bangkok.
I'm both French and American and I support a Spaniard and a SerbMind you, despite my fluency I don't usually support the French in sports. Especially in football, where I find them particularly annoying. I suppose I can attribute this to the Belgian in me.
I'm both French and American and I support a Spaniard and a SerbI guess I'm not big on jingoism. I react to style, talent and personality. I don't care where they come from. I like different things in different players too. I admire Seles and Azarenka for their fighting spirit for instance. Serena is the best female server and the most powerful player ever. Graf is the most elegant athlete ever.
Team sports is different, it's harder to go against your community.
Thank you. Yours too. I completely understand what you're saying. It's possible to like players for opposite reasons (like strength vs finesse). I'm not even sure you always know why. It's like relationships. It clicks or it doesn't.Makes sense. In team sports I either support Portugal or Belgium. Not much to cheer about lately, but oh well. I admire individual sports precisely because they're parables of life, success and failure. I tend to enjoy players who are strong in the mental department (Sampras, Graf, Nadal) but also very flaky and unreliable characters (McEnroe, Korda, Mandliková) for their sheer humanity. Nice to make your acquaintance, by the way.

I like diversity. I don't like being imposed a party line or an all-encompassing authority figure. Maybe that's why I am more interested in Roman and Greek mythology than in the bible! (Despite being born in a Christian family).Yeah, it's a bit like the Ancient Greek gods vs. the Judeo-Christian god. Whereas christians have to accept god's infallibility and worship him no matter what, the Greeks were actually encouraged to have "relationships" with their gods and could choose their favorite ones and ignore the ones they didn't really like. I was reading the Iliad last week and that's exactly what happens: different human beings helping or being helped by different deities. They sort of took it for granted that gods were not perfect, they behaved just like humans with superpowers. That's a bit like sports personalities nowadays. You get to choose your favorites, like a celestial buffet. And it's all based on instinct rather than fear or piety.

A lot of times in online communities when someone finds someone else who is a lot like him or her - whether they speak the same language, are from the same city etc. - he or she gets excited and wants to feel like they're in some exclusive club of their own. I've seen it a lot.
[Well, it wasn't the case then. This guy (who I believe is a veteran user here) was offended because I stated that Portugal wasn't exactly a "powerhouse tennis nation". Something that can hardly be argued. Mind-boggling.]
Anyway, let's hope Gasquet pushes Nadal (or Robredo, hah) to 4 sets. I would like to see him throw the kitchen sink at the Spaniard, even if he loses in the end.

Well we have a good reason to be happy. Generally speaking, we were more or less waiting a miracle from Tsonga...so the Gasquet thread becomes the french thread ?
oh well..., it's not everyday Gasquet reaches a GS SF
Gotcha. It would be interesting to know some time what his arguments were.

Gasquet doesnt have much to hurt Ferrer with. He isnt explosive enough to hit through him, and in fact Ferrer's forehand is much more powerful. He isnt any of fast, durable, fit, or consistent enough to grind with Ferrer. He isnt a true attacker, and he isnt tactically astute enough to come up with an efficient game plan how to move Ferrer around and create openings regularly. Maybe a set for Gasquet at best.

As of now, Gasquet is undefeated in slams QF.
It kind of annoy me since I had sent him yesterday some infos on me to avoid this. Of course I am going to send a mail to him.my friend: u can write to Helix on classim, apparently you have been banned  these guys are hopeless and i'm sorry they thought u were me![]()

Hope Gasquet pulls the upset again. But Nadal is in such a form, I don't know what or who will derail him from his road to the title. :/

You're right, you shouldn't feel sorry. It's more the fault of few users who despite the lack of any proof, will rather think that it has to be the same person again. They should meet BP, 1-3-0 or few people like this to see what actual flaming is about. :lol:by the way i'm sorry even if i should not... i haunted the forum last year i was posting a lot in the ATP section, they thought i was posting too much, then i started trolling more and more and obviously got banned forever  anyway it's a shame that new members have to pay the price
Gasquet hasn't changed a lot TBH. However, Nadal barely plays the same today.Yup, that's a classic. Damn, was Gasquet some kick-arse kid! It is a pity he peaked too early. And it is nice to see Nadal serving without all the ceremonial check up of his own body.

I live in France. I just happen to be good in English.you live in france by the way or US?
Got Hélix by mail. Dude basically told me that I was banned because I may or may not be faking my ID despite the fact I sent them my licence number, because I post a lot, and because they're trying to choose who will be there or not even if you don't do anything against the rules. So he's wondering if I may or may not be the holder of my own licence, which has absolutely nothing to do with having multiple accounts or not. Especially since at least someone at Classim actually read the threads here and knows it.Three people on this topic have been banned on classim.
