Great reaction from Gasquet!

That's a point to get excited about, not when your opponent misses and you scream "vamos", David...

If Gasquet can overcome Ferrer today, he will win a few slams, if not this US Open.

I thought the same thing when Yevgueni beat Grandmaster Youzhny at the AO earlier this year. But not it seems that Mikhail might win the USO this year?

That is absurd. At least Gasquet has variety and a different game than Rafa. Either match would be a straight set beatdown, I'd prefer to at least see nice looking tennis.

Ferrer is the lost boring "top" player of all time, imo. It's just taxing to watch him play.

Doesnt seem to tax him. I heard he will go on a bike ride after this. He hasnt played enough sets in this torney yet. He needs to burn off some energy.

Rafa vs Gasquet would be a bigger snooze.

True. Gasquet coming off two 5 setters would probably go down in 90 minutes to a burgeoning Nadal. He matches up horribly vs Nadal to begin with, and this would just make him even more a lamb to the slaughter. Atleast Ferrer has confidence having beaten Nadal twice in hard court slams, and isnt affected by one long match.

That said I still hope Gasquet can pull it out.

Winner here has two days of rest, though.

Gasquet has been the one playing like roadrunner with his winners coming from passing shots while Ferrer makes all the play yet David is the one considered 'boring' Gasquet does look good doing though and hope he wins.

Rafa crushes both of them. Joker will be Rafas only tuff match. Battle of the six million dollar men. Sort of like Bonds and Sosa that year if you guys remember. You know the one were bonds hits 73 homers and sosa hit 66. Boy those guys were just in really good shape. Funny they were both so much better when they got older to. Hmmm
Neither Rafa nor Novak is old. Mid-20s (23/27) are normal peak years for pro players.

Wouldnt matter. Gasquet who has never beaten Nadal and coming off two long and super physical matches would still be spanked silly. Reaching the semis with one of his biggest ever slam wins (beating Ferrer) would still be huge for him. I was responding to the point that Ferrer vs Nadal would be a boring match though. Whoever Nadal plays in the semis will be a boring match, and nowhere near as good as the Kohlschreiber vs Nadal match was.

Come on rich! Hopefully Skill will beat SUBSTANCE for once. Now he will need a miracle and hope Rafas patella bone falls out of his knee during the match or something.

It's opposite day :-D

Exactly. I don't know what TW's problem with Ferrer is.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one side I don't like Spanish players because of ******** and all their PEDs but on the other hand I know that RG will be totally dead for his Q with ******** and Ferrer would actually put up a fight in the Q. Hmmmmm....

That's true, but personally I feel Gasquet plays a more aesthetically pleasing style, so even long rallies seem fun to watch... Ferrer trying to force the play just seems like grinding nonetheless... probably why he's considered "boring"
