Don't you think there's a possibility that this mentally improved Gasquet with a ferocious backhand could trouble Nadal? I think he's more dangerous than Kohlschreiber.
Rafa will eat him alive. Watch and learn. Tough 1st set followed by poor Richie getting blown off the court like a straw hut by a tornado. All my condoleances in advance...

Ferrer is 2-0 vs ******** on hard court slams. Dammit I can't believe ********'s luck. Not a single decent opponent till the final again. 2010 is back. I hope Murray loses in his Q in a 6 hour match that will leave Wawrinka limping in the semi.

Do you honestly believe Ferrer beats Nadal on hardcourt in this kind of form he's in at the moment?

Didn't matter who he had to face, Nadal got a pretty straight forward path to the finals regardless.

Kohlschreiber has actually beaten Nadal before, unlike Gasquet. He also didnt play Nadal in the semis, but the round of 16. He is the one who probably has helped Nadal be in top form the rest of the way by giving him the "test" he needed. Lastly he is more of a relentless power hitter than Gasquet, and that is the only way to succeed vs Nadal (or be able to grind like Djokovic).

The best I would see Gasquet doing against Nadal is maybe a 7-5 or 7-6 set in a straight sets loss. Who knows though. I didnt expect him to beat Ferrer today but am glad he did.

Gasquet also has beaten Nadal once. He said in the interview with Brad Gilbert. It was about 14 year ago....

Awesome win for Gasquet. Made it home from work just in time to watch him serve it out. Couldn't believe Ferrer was the one to make an error at 30-30!

Hmm,... I'm not so sure. Rafa should win I agree but Gasquet is very very dangerous talent.

I guess it's understandable how cocky you are about Rafa, but in the unlikely event he loses, either today or in the semis against Gasquet, I hope you have the guts to admit you got way ahead of yourself, rather than spew out a bunch of ridiculous excuses.

There are some Nadal fans here that get obnoxious when he's winning and either get even more obnoxious with the excuses when he loses, or are suddenly nowhere to be found. Again, if he does lose, I hope you're better than that veroniquem.

Congrats to Rishard for earning the right to be pummeled by the goat. He used to wear out and lose all the long matches, great for him to have a breakthrough, this is his 2nd slam semi ever, and his 1st slam semi was in 07.

He is, but not enough of one to beat Ralph at the moment. He has one major weapon, and he cannot use that all the time against Ralph's forehand and speed around the court.

I agree with Vero on this one.

Gasquet is playing great, but he will be gassed after these two consecutive marathons he had.

I can't see Gasquet playing just another marathon match in the SF....

way to go Richard, good match. I doubt he will put up much fight vs. Rafa but he has taken a big step toward qualifying for YEC

Well Gasquet does everything Nadal does much less fast and has much less stamina too so... Well, since I'm French there's still hope for me. :)

With a draw like this, if Rafa loses before final, he deserves the flak, no problem. Heck, if he doesn't get through such a godsent draw, I'll go to the USO myself to give him an earful! But something tells me I won't have to ;) If I'm not confident when Rafa plays so well (and is up 20-0 vs competition), when will I ever be?

I meant from a mental POV.

Ah, I see. Well, in all honesty, I'd LOVE for him to beat Ralph, same as I wanted him to win today. I just can't see him doing it. To even think of beating Ralph you need to take his time away, and standing so far back continually (as he tends to do) just doesn't help the matter.

Fingers crossed for him though :)

Sounds good to me.

I am trying to decide how I am going to spend all my I will win after Gasquet wins the US open this year........LOL. I put a nickel down on this guy to win the US open.

One thing in Gasquet's favour, he hasn't met Nadal at all in nearly 2 years, or on a hard court in 4 years.

It makes their semi final more of an unknown for me than another Naderrer match anyway.

Waited years for Gasquet to pull through. Feels good. Think I started to tear up :-P

This will now be the dawning of Gasquet 2.0!

What the heck difference does it make how she feels? She thinks he will get through. Based on who is left in the draw he should. It's not a matter of being cocky or whatever. Based on the matchups and the guys he's up against Nadal is the heavy favorite to make the final. This years draw just broke wide open for him. I agree with her, if Nadal loses before the final he screwed up.

So you want Veronique to feel bad or something if Nadal loses now before the final? Seriously, who cares? Some people will be happy and some people will be sad. That happens on every match. Let people feel what they want to feel.

I don't get it.

Good win for Gasquet, I like the guy. Very talented player with a beautiful game. Hope he doesn't beat Rafa though, should Rafa proceeds.

Well at least he's much more fluent than Nadal so you still can understand what he's trying to say, but yeah. I actually wonder if French accent works well with people in America... :)
I am French so his accent is very, very easy for me to understand!

I have been living in Australia for 2 years and no way people could understand me if i was speaking like Gasquet
Makes me remember I have to concentrate very hard to understand English people speaking, well... English. Australians and Americans are much easier to understand TBH.
