SAM WARBURG will take it all this year.

Wrongace is your new username.

I vote for Willy Canas :(

Me too. I like his game quite a lot, he's got a great defensive skill set and it was sweet to see him whip Federer twice a few years ago, and it'd be great to see him do well in a major.

Oh well, just found out that Warburg went down to Berrer in the 3rd set tiebreaker......What a Heartbreaker.....

So now, your record for predictions is still at 0%, you've made about 10,000 predictions in your posts and not one of them has been correct. A whopping 0-for-10,000!

I see Devvarman beat Bogomolov. In that guys face.

Somdev deserves a break, he's a lot better than his ranking suggests. I hope he does well, it'd speak volumes for the quality of collegiate tennis.

Devvarman plays Janowicz next match. Should be good since apparently Janowicz is the next Marin Cilic and Devvarman has had good matches with Cilic in their last 2 meetings

He won Gstaad after the MD cuts were made.

yes. not sure exactly how it works, but according to his rankings page, bellucci's points increased by 262 on august 2nd, after he won gstaad.

http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Players/Top-Players/Thomaz-Bellucci.aspx?t=rb

guess you subtract 262 from the 813 that he has now, and that would put him at 551? which is under the current top 100 ranking ..... question: Is it the top 100 who are automatically in the mains? :?:

The top 104 get Direct Acceptance into MD of Slams, minus people who withdraw because of injuries (ie. Nalbandian, Moya), or suspension (Gasquet at Wimby this year), then the next highest ranked people at the cutoff, 6 wks prior to start the Monday the tourney starts, get in as alternates.

Stinks for Bellucci but he will make it to the MD anyways

true, but everybody is subject to the same rules ..... for example, delPotro was unable to play rogers cup or cincinnati in 2008 (even tho he had won two of his four 2008 titles prior to those masters) for the same reason, namely otherwise having enough ranking points, but not in time under the rules ....... OTOH (even tho i have not seen jenkins play in over a year) i have no doubt in my mind that thomaz will be playing in the main draw of USOpen 2009! :)

Thanks, RobC! :)
Going back and checking the rankings page at the atp website, the 551 points that bellucci had before winning gstaad 4 weeks prior to the start of the USO would have put him him at the same level as no. 114 on the current (08/24/09) rankings list!

another question: since the point total for winning gstaad was 250, did bellucci earn the extra points for getting through the qualies there?

Here is a wrap of of yesterday when i was at the qualifying.

First i saw kimiko Date Krumm play Yurika Sema, both from japan. First set, Sema was leading 4-2, before Kimiko clawed her was back and forced a tiebreaker. There she was leading 5-3 and serving, then handed over the next 5 points to sema to take it 7-5 in the breaker. I stayed for the next set, which kimiko played a lot better in and won it 6-3, then i left.

Then I headed over to Laura Robson's match, which i only saw a few points of. Got a quick bite to eat

Went over to the practice courts and saw Tommy Haas, Janko Tipsarevic, Marin Cilic, Ivan Ljbucic, Sania Mriza, and Nicolas Almagro.

Then, i went over to court 4 to see Shanay Perry against Lauren Embree, saw the first set then left. After that i watched the beginning of Grigor Dimitrov against Thomaz Belluci. After, I saw the end of Scoville Jenkins beating Michael MCclune

Then, i stumbled on Louis Armstrong stadium and saw a practice match between Shahar Peer and Nadia Petrova. Then once they were done, Li Na came on and started practicing. As i was walking out, i passed Gilles Simon, who three feet away from me!Quickly, i ran towards the Grandstand and saw a parctice match between him and Marin Cilic, which was very exciting.

Then i left to see Khristie Ahn get destroyed 6-1 6-2, which was dissapointing since last year i saw her qualify :(

The two last matches i saw were Asia Muhammed against Anastasia Rodionova, which she lost in a tight affair, and Donald Young.

I will answer any qusetions about the matches if you want and will try to post some pictures as soon as i figure out how! Anyone know?

Q: I want to post pictures in my thread, I have no clue how to go about doing this, any advice?
A: Sure! Provided you know how to take pictures (preferrably with a digital camera) and get them on your PC, here is what you need to do.

1. With your pictures on your computer, please ensure they are sized appropriately (800x600 is a good resolution). Also ensure they are in a web-friendly format, such as .jpg, jpeg, gif, (and less common .png). RAW photo data, or BMPs are NOT encouraged, as they are uncompressed, and take up a lot more space.
2. After resizing and compressing (into .jpg or .gif), upload your photos to some sort of host. If you do not have your own, personal web space, I suggest using free photo uploaders such as http://imageshack.us, http://tinypic.com or http://www.photobucket.com
These sites offer free hosting for your photos, as well as instructions on how to access them through other sites.
3. When inside your thread, click the "insert picture" button using the editor.

A pop up window will appear, asking you for the "URL" of your picture. If you are using your own webhost, insert the address of your picture. If you are using a free uploading site, such as photobucket, or imageshack, insert the URL that was provided to you.
4. If you inserted the URL correctly, the image should show up when you hit "OK."

This should help.

It's raining........hmmmm........:neutral::neutral::neutral::neutral:

another question: since the point total for winning gstaad was 250, did bellucci earn the extra points for getting through the qualies there?

The original cut was #102, and ended up being #108 after withdrawals. Thomaz was #117 (that was before adding the 250+12 points from Gstaad - you were right, Love Gome, he got those 12 extra points for qualifying for the main draw)

...
100 Cipolla, Flavio ITA 99
101 Odesnik, Wayne USA 100
102 Pavel, Andrei ROU @100
103 Granollers, Marcel ESP 101
104 Ramirez Hidalgo, Ruben ESP 102

Alternates
IN Navarro, Ivan ESP 103
IN Beck, Karol SVK 104
OUT Nishikori, Kei JPN 105
IN Lapentti, Nicolas ECU 106
IN Cuevas, Pablo URU 107
IN Ram, Rajeev USA 108
1 Mannarino, Adrian FRA 109
2 Ouanna, Josselin FRA 110
3 Berrer, Michael GER 111
4 Guccione, Chris AUS 112 (WC to MD)
5 Zeballos, Horacio ARG 113
6 Machado, Rui POR 114
7 Ventura, Santiago ESP 115
8 Levine, Jesse USA 116 (WC to MD)
9 Bellucci, Thomaz BRA 117

The cut for slams is always top 104, then 16 Q, plus 8 WC = 128.
