US Open - Women's Singles Draw

Hi - just making a thread for the women's draw. (Although I know that the women's tour is less liked than the men's.)

http://www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/draws/index.html

Should the top 16 seeds make the fourth round, here is what would happen.

(1) Sharapova vs (14) Molik
(9) Petrova vs (5) Kuznetsova

(4) Clijsters vs (16) Bovina
(10) V.Williams vs (8) S. Williams

(7) Henin-Hardenne vs (12) Pierce
(13) Myskina vs (3) Mauresmo

(6) Dementieva vs (11) Schnyder
(15) Dechy vs (2) Davenport

Another potential Williams match-up...

Who do you think has the easiest/toughest draw?

Henin & Clijsters have tough draws(Pierce is the most dangerous lower seed). I doubt the Serena-Venus match will occur in the 16's, it didn't happen at Wimbledon either.

It could be Wimbledon semi's all over again! :) Although I think Clijsters will get to the finals in the upper bracket. It's a great draw for Lindsay...

Great draws for Sharapova and Davenport.

The rest of the field is a total question mark.

Kuznetsova is playing terribly.

Serena's injured and still out of shape (all these months later)...

Venus is returning after being out with an (alleged) flu.

JHH is still playing her way into form...which as KP points out could make her matchup with Pierce a tricky one (even though she normally dominates her).

Clijsters' draw is all about her head. On paper, she should get to the finals in the top half. I'm skeptical that this will occur. I see her dropping a tough quarterfinal matchup to Venus, setting up a repeat of the Wimbledon semi.

I wonder if Venus can find the magic again. She's won the US OPEN every year she wins Wimbledon.....so perhaps a history will repeat itself!!

It'd be nice to see Mauresmo or Clisters win, that way at least one of them could finally shake the choker label.

It's too late for Mauresmo unless all of the elite players are injured. She's proven over the years that she's just too mentally unglued to win a major title. Even Novotna won 1 Wimbledon title! Amelie, in spite of having immense talent, hasn't reached the final of a major in 6.5 years. She just isn't mentally capable of stringing the wins together.

I think Clijsters is a better bet to come through. Maybe in NYC or in Australia. But hopefully soon...or else!
