Interesting match going on, its 5-5, Roddick serving, 30-30, first set.He is playing Pavel.
Rodduck takes the first set from Pavel, 7-6 on a tie-breaker.
Pavel stinks!Roddick up 3-1 in the second set
Pavel's just old. Roddick's play has been erratic today--it's kept Pavel in the first and third sets.
Good think Andy pulled out that TB, he may have needed to find another coach
Yes, Pavel isn't what he was 4 years ago, when he beat ARod, but he's creating him huge probs now ...
Andy is down in the 4th set 4-1 right now. I hope he can some how win the 5th set.
Is it true that Andy is hurling on court?
Pavel takes the 4th set 6-2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! A-Rod must wake up and beat the old sucker.
Pavel knows more tennis than ARod and that won't be simple if he (Pavel) doesn't tire out. Well, he just broke ARod ...
How did Roddick get broken on the first game in the 5th set after having 40-15. Roddick has a big chance of losing here unless a mirical happens.
Yes Roddick breaks back! Tied 1-1 in the 5th set now
and Pavel breaks him back again!
looks like Roddick's brother as coach is paying dividends already.
BTW, the match is shown live in Romania on the main national TV (and it's of course night-time there)
I'd like to see more of that in US and Canada, but imagine NBC or ABC doing that ...
Does Pavel has good returns or is Andy serving badly? He had 17 aces so far but, Pavel keeps breaking him.
Pavel up 3-1.
Holy s**t!!!! Pavel breakes Roddick AGAIN! He's up 4-1 now.
he beat ARod in 2001 in Montreal no probs, guess he sees better the ball on returns than others.
ARod needs some heroics here and quick
Blake is gonna be under so much pressure in the 2nd match...
Andy has called the trainer out for an injury to his hand. He has also thrown up during changeovers twice. Something odd is happening to him out there.
5-2 Pavel will now serve out for the match.
is Pavel S-V a lot?
I don't see the match here, just the score ...
Not that uncommon in hot & humid conditions. Roddick has thrown up at this venue before a few years ago. So has Agassi, I think.
hope it's nothing serious and he can still play on Sunday.
When has Andy ever played in La Jolla before?
It's 60 in La Jolla - I don't think it ever gets above 80 there.
My bad, I thought this tie was in Florida.
I don't have TTC, but the stats as they are being updated on the Davis Cup site look bad for Roddick today. At least matchwise (I haven't broken them down set for set yet).
38% points won on Second Serve...
However, looks like he was fighting hard at 5-2, since he kept up on the deuce points.
Roddick breaks Pavel. Pavel still up 5-3.
Pavel gettin pummelled, does he have the stomach to close out this match?
Roddick holds. Pavel trying to seve out the match at 5-4
omg 30-30 im so nervous C'mon RODDICK
Deuce, with Pavel serving at 5-4... C'mon roddick, tough this out!
omg, what a puke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Game, set, match, Pavel.
Good show from the veteran, bad one from Roddick.
will Roddick fire his brother any time soon?
Still no go for pounding so many aces but low 1st percentage serves...A Pavel congrats...hands down to the old veteran
when I saw on the serve diagram at the damn CD site that serve in the ad from Pavel, I knew it was over, it was too much into the corner I guess for ARod to return it
this was a very important win for Pavel ...
just like 4 years ago, he showed ARod who's the craftsman/master and who only plays with power ...
How did Roddick lose that match after winnind the first 2 sets
Eww, I've just seen some screen shots of Andy's vomit festival. Not quite as neon colored as Murray's was at the USO, but still icky enough. Hope he feels better by Sunday. Hope James doesn't get all mental in the next match.
2nd serve percentage, when you really need to play the ball, not just bash it.
If the US loses this tie & Pmac still keeps his job, he must have pictures of some of those USTA guys...
He will fire him anytime soon and beg Brad be his coach again. If this happens I hope Brad gives him an another chance.
The meltdown continues - I'm sure it's bad coaching (lol), not that Roddick's lost enough off the forehand and serve to make his one-dimensional game vulnerable to even second-tier players.
Andy was helped off court by a doctor at the end of the match. He may be headed for the hospital.
Yeah, SCRIPPS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Psychiatric Unit
Was just watching the Live Scores on the DC web site and was getting pretty frustrated with AR. However, after the fact, learning about how he might be sick, he put in a good effort to come back in the fifth set. Just didn't have quite enough. We'll see how he does on Sunday.
James now with two break points in the fifth game of the first set.
Wow, here i am saying Pavel sucks and the guy pulls this off:mrgreen: , alot of credit to Roddick for finishing the match but he should have won this match, even if he was sick, he needed just one damn set!
I was really hoping they would let Robby Ginepri instead of Roddick. Roddick is really slipping, Ginepri is the best American player for now.
lol, you're serious???
the last time I've checked he played pretty bad...oh wait that wasn't long ago
