September 14-16, Nadal announces he won't play. Held in Spain, on red clay.

Team USA will probably be Isner, BB's, Fish? or Queerey?

Spain will probably be Ferrer, Almagro and 2 other chums who will lose to the Bryans.

Who will win?

Ferrer is 2 guaranteed wins against any American. Isner has a chance against Almagro, but no other American does now that Fish is probably out. Spain wins either 3-2 or 4-1.

Spain will win, they don't need Nadal.

If Ferrer is playing that is. If I remember correctly he and Nadal were saying last year they wouldn't play Davis Cup in 2012. If that's the case it can be close, although Spain will still be the favourite.

The Davis Cup still exists? Thanks for the heads up. :)

So the US has to play 3 straight on the road on clay? Nice 'tournament'. Davis Cup was relevant back when the players went between continents on ocean liners; now (and with tennis in the Olympics), not so much.

Bryans would win.

Isner might sneak a win against one of them.

It's not entirely impossible for USA to win. But I'll go with Spain 3-2.

Ferrer will win his 2 matches. Bryan wins their doubles.

It up to the second player of Spain to decide things.
Almagro is hurting on his shoulder and legs....so we will see.

Courier would be wise to swap out Querrey for Brian Baker...Baker did very very well for himself on the clay this year, and his game suits it more than Sams.

Isner has to win his two matches for USA to win. This time Isner won't win because everyone expects him to win.

I like our chances, Isner is probably our best clay court player right now (as odd as that is). With a Bryans win and a win over their #2 (Almagro?) we have a good chance of making it happen.

Team usa and spain confirmed today no surprises.

Courier would be wise to swap out Querrey for Brian Baker...Baker did very very well for himself on the clay this year, and his game suits it more than Sams.

He maybe would have picked brian if he had beaten almagro but he lost to him i think that swayed his mind.

Most likely scenario: Ferrer 2-0, Bryans 1-0, Isner 1-1...it all comes down to Sam! USA advances if he wins one match; if not, Espana por favor!
