Using the modified western fh grip?

I adopted this grip not knowing it, but just through personal preference, and I guess it has been effective so far LOL. In the semi-western and western fh grips, your knuckle is on a specific bevel. On my grip, my knuckle is on the edge which is between the semi-western and western fh bevels. Any other players hit the fh with a "modified" western grip?

When I just started to play, I was using the eastern. As I got better, the eastern became uncomfortable so I just tried something which lead to using my current grip and I have been using it ever since not knowing it was called the modified western.

Ive been playing for 4 1/2 years. I started out with a full western then went to a semi western this past June after a tennis camp. In september i got a new racquet and the semi wasn't getting enough spin and i was hitting long so i went to my current modified western.

I think we don't need to be bother by which grip we are using. I think there are lots people playing w/ "in between grip". Just play w/ the grip you feel comfortable and effective. My forehand grip is between eastern and semi western, and im very happy with it. (i place my base knuckle of my index finger on the edge between bevel 3 and 4.

I don't like to hear people say that modern tennis should be play with full western FH and 2HBH bla bla bla.(not offend anyone on this board) Tennis is not like computer, we don't have to chase the "update" technology. Just Persist in any style of grip you feel comfortable and play hard, you will be good player.

The base knuckle of the index finger is centered on the crease between panel 4/5. Well this grip is called "Extreme semi-western", or "Mild Western".

I hope this helps.

Yes, that is where the knuckle of my index finger is centered on, between the panel 4/5. I did not know that this grip was call the extreme semi or mild western, Mahboob. This is a lot of help for me to be sure that I am correct. This grip was not really what I meant it to be; it really just came naturally to me and it is what I am comfortable with. Thanks again for this help and I love to read all the insight you post here on the boards Mahboob. One can learn a lot of things from such a knowledgable poster as you in the 'Tennis Tips/Instruction' section. While I am praising, big thanks to Marius Hancu and Bungalo Bill who also have very knowledgable and helpful posts in this section.
